Question:
Hi. I have a 2014 f-250 Super Duty with the 6.7L powerstroke. My toe either a 37’ 5th wheel toy hauler or a 23’ surf boat. I am looking for some good helper bags and I am caught between air lift loadlifter 5000 and Firestone ride rite. Which would you recommend for my truck and why?

Expert Reply:
The Firestone # F2597 are the air bags I recommend for your 2014 Ford F-250. Firestone quality and durability is far superior to the Air Lift air bags like # AL88395. The Firestone have 4 layers of reinforced rubber and a braided wire girdle which increases burst pressure. By comparison, the Air Lift only has 2-ply fabric reinforced rubber.
Firestone also uses a superior anchor system with the rolled crimp seal to keep the air bags secure. The Air Lift may include a jounce spring but that isn't necessary for the Firestone with better overall performance. Both offer a lifetime warranty on the air bags and are made in the USA.
I also recommend getting an air compressor like the Firestone Air Command II # F2178. This will allow you to control the pressure in your air bags no matter where you go from the cab of your truck. This is a dual path system which will allow you to adjust the air bags independently or together. The dual path is especially handy when you have a toy hauler with slide outs to help with side to side leveling.
I have attached some installation videos below for your reference.
