Hello, neighbors, Steve here with etrailer.com. Today, we're looking together at our Blue Ox Safety Cables rated at 15,000 pounds. Now, folks, you will get two of these safety cables. And, as you know, safety cables offer extra security for your tow system when you're flat towing behind an RV, and most states actually require them by law. Now these connect onto the RV on one end, spring-loaded tabs here, and connect to the front of the tow bar on the other end. Now the aircraft-grade steel cable is super strong and durable, and it has a nice plastic protective coating to prevent scratching your tow bar, your vehicle, the RV bumper, those kind of things, and the metal keepers that are spring-loaded, keep it from unhooking.
These are 84-inches long, or seven feet, they're coiled, so they spring right back whenever you're not using 'em, to help you put 'em away easier, and, again, rated at 15,000 pounds. And, once again, folks, they are gonna connect from the back of the RV, at the safety chain hookup point, to the front of the vehicle being towed, near the tow bar, at the safety chain attachment points. I purchased this as part of a package which included; Hitch and wiring for my 2022 Equinox, Base plate, Tow Bar, brake System and connecting air hose, break away cables, LED tow lights with wiring harness, and a trickle charger to keep the Equinox battery from going dead while I was towing it behind my class A RV.
I had etrailer do the install of all the components on my car and RV. All the workmanship was excellent and done in the amount of time they said it would take. Also because they did not have a video of this equipment being put on this year and model vehicle, I gave them permission to make a video(which added a extra day and a half to the install)and the installation was free. Everything has worked perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Etrailer is my go to for anything towing and also RV parts.
Safety must be reliable. These Blue Ox cables meet the requirements for my application. Katie helped meet sort those the complexities of toad life.

Advantage in the coiled design, keeps it from dragging...until it does drag. Then cable is ruined, where a chain would only chafe. I proved it. Price is stupid.

Great upgrade! I currently drive a 2023 Newmar Essex, on a Spartan K3 chassis. Unlike the earlier K3 chassis, this has a thicker hitch baseplate which means the spring loaded keeper on my 10,000 lb rated safety cables cannot spring closed (picture #1). I asked eTrailer for a comparison of the 10,000 vs 15,000 lb safety cable and Kate F sent me pictures and dimensions. I just received a pair of the 15,000 lb cables and they do fit, the hook is larger, so the spring loaded keepers can close (picture #2), providing positive locking security and peace of mind that they'll stay in place.
