Valterra electric valve pieces

The switch plate, wiring, seals, and hardware needed to install this electric waste valve on your RV's black water tank are included. The switch plate installs in the RV's control panel. The waste valve secures to existing pipes using ABS solvent cement (A05-0303 - sold separately). A booklet with step-by-step instructions and a template for drilling are also included.

Valterra electric valve gray water switch

You can also adapt the valve to work with your gray-water tank. A gray switch plate is included for that purpose. For this installation, you will need to use adapters (sold separately) to convert the valve opening from 3" to 1-1/2" in diameter.

Valterra electric valve manual use

If you're dry camping or in the case of a power failure, the manual override is easy to use. Simply remove the pin from the valve's lift arm and turn the handle 90 degrees clockwise. Then pull the handle to open the valve.

So far they have been great
Now lets

Perfect product.... my 72 yr old dad had the cable black water valve and had trouble pulling it when needed, so, I installed the Valterra EZ valve and put the electric switch inside for him and he loves it, no more outside in the cold or heat to dump the tanks.

Highly recommend this for anyone and was a easy install....

by:

So far a very good valve. I just removed the old cable valve and this slipped right into it's place.
There was one little surprise, the instructions did not indicate which 12v wire was positive. There is a black and white wire. I assumed black was positive, it's not. So of course the valve opened when I connected the wires.

by:

I would recommend this product to anyone who has long remote pull drains.
It made both the black and gray water work without a hitch. Just smooth full open to full closed. Well worth the money. Install them myself with the help of my son. They bolted right up no problem.

by:

Appears to be a very nice setup! Looking forward to installing it!!!!

by:

I bought this item hoping it would fix the issues I had with the factory installed cable, NOPE. This part is no better than the cable system. The clip that hold the valve handle to the electric motor doesn’t clip on correctly, I even tried making it work with zip ties, it worked for maybe two weeks, now I just crawl under the RV and operate it manually. Don’t waste your money.

This is such a great product,I don't know why it is not an option more often on a rv.I installed the control switch inside my rv near a window that looks out on the sewer connection.I have the clear 3" elbows on both hose ends of my sewer hose, and can observe from inside, the operation of emptying my black tank.Being able to do so during rainy or cold weather is such a great luxury.I have had this in operation for about a year now and it has performed flawlessly.I chose this brand over others due to the ability to manually operate valve in event of a power loss.Installation was very simple and instructions were very detailed. Will never have a rv without one now.

by:

The Drain Master cam-lock waste water hose is second to none, but after having to use a small allen wrench to manually open/close a failed Drain Master black tank valve, I replaced both with this Valterra assembly. They require a fair amount of space above them to open, but it is much easier to manually operate them, if necessary. They are well-constructed. No leaks, no problems after a year of use, and etrailer offered quick delivery and excellent customer service.

Keep in mind-- the switches are a rocker design that makes open/close positions less obvious, and in bright sun, the red led may be hard to see. I learned this while flushing out my black tank. After I was finished, I reinserted the stopper, thinking the black tank valve was closed. The next time I went to drain the tanks, I took the stopper out, and had a 40 gallon gusher of raw sewage! One thing I can say about all my RV mistakes- I never repeat them!

by:

it makes it easy for anybody to dump the tank great product

by:

Every things was in the package , arrive at the time its was schedule .
The installation went very good and easy , to dot it your self if you are manuel its will work find.
I change a existing cable valve with this electric waste valve , the only bad situation was to work under the RV .
The valve work great .

by:

Except for having to make some minor modifications to my flanges (they were bowed out between the bolt holes) so the actuators were clearing the flange, the install was easy. The flange issue is not the valve manufacturers fault, just how the flange was made. My old valves were cable style and cheap and these will be a great upgrade on Leaky crappy valves. I was tired of getting the sewer surprise every time I dumped. etrailer delivered on time and at a good value.

by:

I replaced the 2 manual valves with 2 E40A-8’s...one of the best upgrades I’ve done with my Renegade RV.... Easy installation......Great product..... Great price..... Thanks etrailer.... You’re still the best.....

by:

Nice valve for remote operation . The wiring is 4 ft from switch to motor/valve, and 3 ft of wire for power. I replaced power wire with a 10 ft piece which was only $9 bucks. Take pic of switch wiring cause you need to remove wires from switch to pass wires through any holes you drill in floor and cabinets, etc . Watch out for water , electric wires when drilling holes. Hole needs to be at least 1/2”for wire ends to pass through. If wood is thick I would do 5/8” hole . Pass big wire ends through first and smaller next. Or cut wire ends off and recrimip new ends after running wires.

by:

Installation was easy…. Getting to them was the hard part.
Taking down the underbelly was less than fun. Cutting holes in it was even a worse idea.
But, installation went well. Great product, super fast open and close, easy to wire and made my own console for the switches which wasn’t hard either.

Had to put them in different directions due to the main sewer drain being in the way but the auto gate valves do not care which way they go, they work fine either way. Just hope they last as I really don’t like working on my back….

by:

I decided it was time to install the 12-volt Black Water tank valve. Before doing the install I used RV seal Lubricant and installed it at a 45-degree angle.

It is my opinion that a 45-degree installation will help the life of the valve.

I'm very impressed by the quality build of the unit.

by:

Fast shipping and correct part.
Very
satisfied!!!
Thank you

I am very happy with the Valtera product. Etrailer is typically a very good supplier. But this is the reason for the 3 star average review. First, I think my valves were returns from someone else’s order. Not all of the hardware was included. The mounting screws and the grey tank valve switch plate (as seen in the product photo) missing. I reached out customer service and they sent a lame response saying they do not sell those items separately. OK you missed the point. So at the end of the day I paid about double for the ones I got in 2021 got less, and lame customer service. Hence an average rating, as that pretty much how things are now days. The Valterra valves work great and were easy to install.

It’s been a year now since I installed this control valve.
I am very pleased that it works perfectly. I will be buying two more for my other two tanks. I highly recommend this purchase.

by:

Connected it to a small duck pond drainage system. Has worked flawlessly even during could winter months.

by:

Fast service, product works great

I installed 3 of these valves on my RV, i've had them for a year now with no problems with the valves themselves the only issue was one of the switch red lights that lets you know it's open went out but really don't need it, I am very pleased

  • Can Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve Be Installed Sideways Under 5th Wheel Trailer
Yes, the Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve for RV Black Water Tank # E40B-8 can be oriented sideways so it's able to open up under your trailer. The 3" to 3" hubs mentioned in the description are included with the valve. These are the pipe ends on either side and the hub terminology means that they are the "outer" connection - so your existing pipe will need to fit inside of this at both ends. Since it looks like you have one hub and one spigot (the inner connection) on your setup...

  • What is Shortest Cable Length for RV Sewer Dump Valve
The shortest cable length for the RV dump valves is 36 inches like the part # 34466N4AB36GM you referenced. You can loop the cable to take up the extra slack and it will work fine. The bigger the loop you can make the better as that will allow the cable to slide the easiest. We do have an electric version of this with the part # E40-8 as well.

If you need more space between the valve and switch then you can certainly extend the wires as needed with some butt connectors. That said, just be sure to cut far enough behind the connector that you still have room to attach the butt connector.
