Question:

We are getting a new Grand Design 2600RB and have some fears about the black and gray tank valve placement under the slide. We plan on going on 2-3 month extended stays, and would have to climb under the slide to pull the black tank handle, which is difficult having both knees replaced. Can we use the present plumbing and just replace the bayonnet and gate housing and screw the flanges to the valve itself? Thanks

You're on the right track here- the Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve for RV Black Water Tanks # E40-8 is the part you're looking for to put an electric open/close function on your black water tank. Adding in this electric switch for your sewer will allow you to avoid having to crawl under your slide out each time you want to open/close the black water tank- no more pulling the tank handle.

You will use the present plumbing and replace your existing cable/handle with the # E40-8; the spigot end will fit into your RV black water drain pipe and the hub end will allow you to connect your RV waste hose. You'll want to seal everything up using some ABS Solvent Cement like # A05-0303
