Randy: Hey guys. Randy here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at an AC register heat vent from Valterra. This one I really like. I think it's got a lot going for it. Basically we have the option to rotate the vent in any direction.
That's going to direct the airflow where we want it to go. But also we've got a knob here. We can open and close that. I think this is a really good idea and I think it's a great design. Not only do we get to get the air in the direction that we need it the most, but we can shut it off when we don't need it.
Basically, if we're at nighttime, maybe we're sleeping back in the bedroom, but we need the heat, we don't necessarily need to heat the whole RV. So we can shut a few of these off and be much more efficient than what we would if we we're trying to heat the whole thing or in the summertime when it gets hot for running the air conditioner, we want to cool certain parts at certain times.So out here during the day in the living quarters and then back there in the bedroom at night. I think it'll just help out a lot when you're on the dry camping, when you're out boon docking. If you're plugged into shore power, it doesn't make that big of a difference I guess. But overall I think as far as being able to open and close it, it's one of the simplest ones out there and as far as being able to direct the airflow, just works really well.
All right, for the replacement process of course we need to get our old vent removed. You can see this is the type that spins all the way around the outside there. It has a center push pin. Now they can be varying in tight. But most of the time you're just going to have a cover on the outside that kind of protects and covers those screws, makes it look nice.
So in this one we want to pull out on both sides here. I'm just going to gently wiggle it side to side.You can see that center section is going to come out and there we've got our four screws. A lot of times these are going to have a square bit. You can see there's a square in the inside. But a Phillips will also work for it. Let's just get this taken out, just going to be kind of like wood screws there. Not much to it. Then we'll pull that out. You can see there's our ducting material just like a dryer hose really. You just kind of want to pull that out and to begin our installation, we just need to slide our vent to over the back of the vent here. Get it on there as far as you can. Sometimes you can gather up a little bit of extra and slide it on there just depending on what you've got to work with. Once we get it in position there, I'm going to reuse our existing hardware. You can also use the hardware that comes with it. We'll just get them lined up and secure here. All right, at that point, you can see our vent's ready for use.We can direct our airflow where we want it. We can also open and close it for when we want air and when we don't. So as you can see, really easy to install. It doesn't take any more or any less time than a lot of the other ones out there. I guess the only negative I really see about it is there's really no cover for our screws. We're reusing our original screws. It's also going to come with a set of screws if you want to use those. So that would be my really only negative thing is you see a couple of screws. But outside of that, it's definitely one I would like and something I would replace my vents with.

The pressure from the furnace keeps closing this adjustable vent, so it really isn't functioning as expected.
This was a perfect replacement for the OEM one that was in my motorhome. The screw holes even lined up. The only issue I have is that it wont stay open. I can set it to open and sometimes it will stay that way until the furnace cycles off then comes on again. It always gets blown closed. But most the time, I set it open and it will be blown closed by the furnace air within a minute. This is the closest register to my furnace so the air is coming out full blast. I'm ok with it because that register will be closed 99.9 percent of the time anyway.
These are OK, I needed these to operate at an almost closed position but they are not tight enough on the gear to hold the flaps back at an almost closed position, instead the air pressure would just force it closed.
Looks great, easy install, control mechanism bad design. I bought this to replace a furnace vent in my 5th Wheel bathroom that had one that was not adjustable. This one is adjustable, BUT the force of the furnace air causes the vent to close all the time. Since my bathroom is small that's exactly what I wanted but would have been nice to be able to open vent when needed, it just won't stay open. I have solution by using toothpick to wedge adjust knob at position I want, but this is not ideal. Not sure if it's just high air pressure or any air pressure that will cause it to close.
Fast shipping, part as described. Switching a dampened control in the bedroom of our motorhome. Worked perfectly

It was purchased to reduce heat flow in the bedroom. Has done just as I wanted. Keeps it cooler in the back and directs more flow to the rest of the motorhome. Recommended.
Delivery was quick and easy. I love the communication for every phase of the order. I think etrailer is the best at communicating status! Installation was simple and took about 5 minutes to replace the oem vent cover in my travel trailer.

Good product. Sometime the vent shut close from the force of the heat. I wish it comes with a matching color screw.

Not impressed with the slow shipping and that there wasn’t a good way to track shipping. I got an email from Amy when the part arrived, but that was it.
Valterra makes good products. Our new 5th wheel toy hauler came with non-adjustable heater vents and the bathroom and the bedroom would be hot but the kitchen/living area would be cool. I got these to replace those heater vents it came with so I could close off the bathroom and bedroom and force more hot air to the kitchen/living area. These adjustable vents make that happen very efficiently. Shipping was fast and well packaged, installation is simple and these accomplish exactly what I had hoped they would accomplish.

A year later and I am very pleased with the operation and design of these vents and they are still working as designed. No issues with the openclose adjustment knob. They have stayed in place even after towing the trailer on some very unkept roads and highways. I highly recommend these vents.

The vent covers have worked well. Very stable and great for keeping the rain off of the vents so that they can remain open when it’s raining.
