Retracting Kwikee Steps On 2016 Newmar Bay Star Sport
Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/11/2025 >
Question:
JUST purchased 2016 newmar bay star sport and I find no way to retract the step unless ignition is on and door closed. Am I missing something?

Hey Dave. So what you described is actually how these steps are designed to work.
Once you're parked at a campsite, the assumption is that you'd typically leave the steps out when the door is open and the ignition is off, so the opposite would be true once you're ready to head out and the steps need to come in (door closed and ignition on).
Is everything else working correctly? Steps remaining retracted once out, etc?

Hey Dave, did the step operation on your Bay Star Sport end up working as expected once you tried it that way? Your update could make it easier for others learning how their steps are supposed to function.
