Built for RVs

Swagman Original 3-Bike Hanging-Style Rack

The Swagman Trailhead is built to withstand the added vibration and stress that comes from being installed on the back of your RV. The base has no moving parts, and the mast attaches to the shank with steel-reinforced brackets. These overbuilt components ensure that the rack can take any punishment that the road may inflict.

Dual Folding Arms with Anti-Sway Cradles

Swagman Trailhead 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Dual Folding Arms

The Trailhead has dual folding arms that provide excellent support for your bikes. They slope up to provide ground clearance for steep driveways and bumpy roads.

Swagman Trailhead 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Hitch Switch Lever

To fold the arms down, remove the pull pin at the top of the mast. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And when stored in this configuration, it doesn't take up as much space in your garage.

Swagman Trailhead 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Anti-Sway Cradles

Anti-sway cradles with rubber straps hold your bikes firmly in place. Each set of cradles has three straps that secure your bike along the top tube and one that secures the seat post or downtube. This multi-point contact helps keep your bikes from rocking back and forth, reducing bike-to-bike contact. The soft rubber cradles rotate around the rack's arms to accommodate bikes of different styles and shapes.

Threaded Hitch Pin

Swagman Titan threaded hitch pin

A threaded hitch pin is included to help eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport. To tighten the pin in your hitch, use a 5/8" wrench (not included). A clip is also included to keep the pin in place.

Available Seccurity and Adapter Bar

Swagman hitch lock and cable lock

An anti-rattle hitch lock and cable lock (sold separately) are available to secure the rack to your vehicle and your bikes to the rack.

Swagman Bike Adapter Bar

If you have a women's bike, kid's bike, or any other bike without a straight, horizontal top tube, you will need an adapter bar (sold separately) to properly mount your bike. The bar fits between the seat post and handlebar stem post of your bike to create a top tube so your bike hangs level on the rack.

  • 5th Wheel Approved 4 Bike Rack Recommendation
At this time we do not. This is due to the harsher ride quality found at the rear of fifth wheel trailers. Would a roof mounted bike rack work for one of the bikes? If so what vehicle do you have what's it's roof look like.

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Tongue of R-Pod With Electric Tongue Jack
To mount a bike rack to the tongue of your R-Pod you will want to start out by using the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk Trailer-Mounted Bike Rack Carrier for A-Frame Trailers # CC-275. This will give you a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver opening for you to use a bike rack with. From the top of the A-frame of your R-Pod to the top of the cross tube is 33-1/2 inches, which should clear your electric tongue jack, and it has a weight capacity of 100 lbs. The bike rack that I recommend using with...

  • Is there a Shorter Shank to Move Bike Rack Closer to Trailer when Using the Jack-It
I checked with Lippert, manufacturer of the Jack-It # LC429756 and they do not list an alternate shank. The only thing I can think of is that people are modifying it to fit their needs. You could instead use the Bike Bunk, # CC-275, with the Swagman Trailhead, # S63381. This will allow you to place the Bike Bunk on the A-frame at a spacing as narrow as 12 inches and as much as 52 inches (and basically anything in between).

  • What Makes a Bike Rack Rated for Trailer Use
A trailer rated bike rack like the Swagman Trailhead# S63381 has been tested and approved by Swagman to be used on a trailer. The Thule T2 Pro XTR # TH69TX is not. What this means for a customer is that if you were to use the Thule T2 Pro XTR behind a trailer and the rack was damaged it would not be warrantied because it was not used in the fashion intended. The # TH69TX is rated for use on a motorhome, but not other types of RVs. The reason some racks are not approved for trailer use...

  • 4 Bike Rack Recommendation for Use at the Rear of a Fifth Wheel Trailer
At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use. The platform bike racks are longer and heavier which adds even...

  • Recommended 4-Bike Hitch Rack For A 31-Foot Travel Trailer
While the Curt 4 Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # C18030 is a great bike rack it is not compatible with travel trailers, unfortunately. Instead, I recommend checking out the: -Swagman Trailhead RV Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches # S63381. This hitch is capable of carrying up to 4 bikes weighing 35-lbs each, will work with a 2" trailer hitch receiver, and is also compatible with travel trailers. Attached are a couple of videos for you to check out as well.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Cargo Carrier for RV with 4 x 4 Square Bumper
We currently have five bumper mounted 2" trailer hitch receivers that will work with the 4" x 4" bumper on your trailer. I have attached these options for you but I recommend using the Curt RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver part # E-100. This trailer hitch uses steel plates to surround the bumper as opposed to the u-bolts in the other options. The steel plates will provide more support and also look much better than the u-bolt options. If you also need a cargo basket for your generator...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch And Hitch-Mounted Bike Carrier For 2010 Toyota RAV4
The hitch I recommend for your 2010 Toyota RAV4 is the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C13149. This is a Class lll hitch and has a 2 inch receiver opening. I have attached a link to an installation video for this hitch on a RAV4 you can take a look at. • How to Determine If Swagman RV 2-Bike RV Bumper Mount Rack is Right For Your Application
Many RV bumper manufacturers construct their product with a plastic cap or a hinged door instead of endcap, allowing bumper to be used for storage; apparently you have this type. Open that end piece to examine if the seam has spot welds (short welds at a number of separate points) or one continuous weld running the full length of the bumper; take note of the thickness of the metal while doing so. Some bumpers, frequently identified as heavy duty, will not have a weld seam at all but are...

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver and 4-Bike Rack for 2016 Jeep Patriot
The hitch I recommend for you is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98836 since it bolts to the existing holes in the frame of your 2016 Jeep Patriot and requires no drilling. It will give you a standard 2 inch receiver for a bike rack and its cross tube is hidden behind your bumper, so it looks nice and clean. For a 4 bike rack that is both budget friendly and very functional, your best option is the Swagman Trailhead 4-Bike Rack # S63381. Keep in mind that if any of your bikes have...

You'll need to measure the distance between the side stanchions on your Grand Design Imagine 2500RL to determine which hitch will fit, but the Curt Adjustable Trailer Hitch Receiver - 18"-51" Wide - 2" Drop - Class III - 2" # C13701 is a great option that can be bolted or welded on. • Bike Rack Recommendation for the Bike Bunk on an Aliner Trailer
Since the Stromberg-Carlson Bike Bunk # CC-275 is rated for 100 pounds and mounts on a trailer I recommend going with the lightest 2-bike, RV and trailer approved rack that you can. I recommend, is the Swagman Trailhead, # S63381, which weighs 30 pounds. This would leave you 70 pounds to hold the bikes.

  • Swagman Titan vs Trailhead Bike Rack
The Swagman Titan # S63410 will give you more room between the center of the hitch pin hole to the center mast. It measures about 14-1/2 inches and the trailhead # S63381 only has 9-1/2 inches. The bike racks are about the same besides some minor things, one of those being the distance between your hitch and the start of the bike rack. I would go with the Titan!

The # MO34VR uses nuts and bolts where the # MO22FR uses self tapping screws. Since both have the same 400lb load rating I recommend going with the # MO22FR as it will be the easiest to install. • Why Cant Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack be Used on Trailer or Motorhome
Only certain hitch-mounted bike racks are rated for use behind a trailer or motorhome. This is simply because of the extra movement and bounce that a bike rack endures behind a trailer/motorhome as opposed to one a standard passenger vehicle. The extra movement is due to the rear bumper on trailers being extended much further out from the rear axle than on a passenger car. Bike racks that are approved for this use have been tested for this application and can withstand the additional movement...

The reason why we don't recommend the Saris Freedom 4 Bike Rack # SA4414B on an RV, motorhome, flat-towed vehicle, or 5th-wheel trailer is because of the added torque experienced at the rear of those vehicles while traveling. The added force can damage the bikes, the rack, or the hitch receiver, and it can be dangerous for other drivers on the road. Since your bumper is customized for extra support and has a welded-on receiver, it should be better off than a bolted-on hitch. However, the...

  • Class III Vs Class II Trailer Hitch For A 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
The main reason you should use a class III hitch vs a class II hitch is that a class III hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13416 has a 2" x 2" receiver opening which is the most common opening used and manufactured, to carry hitch mounted accessories like the Swagman Trailhead 4-Bike Rack # S63381.
