Today we'll be taking a look the butyl tape for enclosed trailers. Now this is going to be an essential part of your install for any kind of vent or fan that you might put on your enclosed trailer. This butyl tape will create a nice watertight seal for that fan or vent. It can adhere to not only roof membranes on your trailer but also to glass, aluminum and galvanized steel. So it's kind of this putty-like really sticky material. It comes pre-formed and it's a synthetic polymer base.
So you pretty much just unroll it as you need. Stick it where you need it to go. Whenever you unroll it, you can just tear it off into however big a size, chunk, you need. This roll here is going to be 50 feet long. It's an eighth-inch thick and an inch wide.
So I'll show you that on the ruler here. Roughly an inch wide as far as the butyl tape itself. Of course, it has that little brown backing so it doesn't completely stick to itself. And, again, we're going to get 50 feet total with this. So it should be enough to get most of those enclosed trailer accessories, like a vent or a fan installed and still have some extra left over.It does remain flexible even after being on the roof for a long time, going through hot and cold and, again, it's going to create that nice watertight seal.
If you need any other accessories for your fan or vent install, like self-leveling adhesive, which is typically going to go over the top of that shroud off of that vent or fan, we also have that available here at etrailer.com if you want to pick that up. Hardware, the vents and fans themselves, we've got all those accessories for you and more right here at etrailer.com. And that's going to do it for our look at the butyl tape for enclosed trailers.

Use this butyl tape beneath the roof vent on top of your trailer. It adheres to roof membranes and surfaces such as aluminum, glass, and galvanized steel. The tape seals gaps and prevents water from leaking in.The packaging of this butyl tape was horrible. It is usable but will be difficult to use. The pictures shows how bad it is beat up, looks like a potato chip.
Used the Butyl tape to seal off the solar slide out topper in stalled on a 2021 Winnebago micro Minnie. 2108 DS
The tape works well as a sticky place holder while installing the top slide rail and under brackets
Due tyo flopping around loosely inside the large shipping box, the roll was pretty beat-up and misshapen around the outer edges. However, it unrolled OK as long as I was careful to not "get ahead" of myself with the brown paper and the butyl tape, and working to not let the tape stretch longer than its original length.
Applying it to a powder-coated aluminum flat bar, it wanted to stick to my fingers more than the bar, so that part was a bit tricky. Once pressed in place, on the fiberglass side of my trailer, it made what appears to be a water-tight bond, all's well.
The service at the trailer was excellen t.
Its butyl tape, looks like it will do the job.
The way they package their product creates a lot of chance of being damaged. It was great working with Will!
arrived smooshed and heavily damaged. am having to install everything in 18" sections and mate them together
Ordering was simple, and shipping was quick. The project is still in process so I can't comment of the product.

Appears to be ok. I haven't used it yet.
