Video Transcript for Review of TRC Enclosed Trailer Parts - Butyl Tape - 362BT-18X1-50

Today we'll be taking a look the butyl tape for enclosed trailers. Now this is going to be an essential part of your install for any kind of vent or fan that you might put on your enclosed trailer. This butyl tape will create a nice watertight seal for that fan or vent. It can adhere to not only roof membranes on your trailer but also to glass, aluminum and galvanized steel. So it's kind of this putty-like really sticky material. It comes pre-formed and it's a synthetic polymer base.

So you pretty much just unroll it as you need. Stick it where you need it to go. Whenever you unroll it, you can just tear it off into however big a size, chunk, you need. This roll here is going to be 50 feet long. It's an eighth-inch thick and an inch wide.

So I'll show you that on the ruler here. Roughly an inch wide as far as the butyl tape itself. Of course, it has that little brown backing so it doesn't completely stick to itself. And, again, we're going to get 50 feet total with this. So it should be enough to get most of those enclosed trailer accessories, like a vent or a fan installed and still have some extra left over.It does remain flexible even after being on the roof for a long time, going through hot and cold and, again, it's going to create that nice watertight seal.

If you need any other accessories for your fan or vent install, like self-leveling adhesive, which is typically going to go over the top of that shroud off of that vent or fan, we also have that available here at etrailer.com if you want to pick that up. Hardware, the vents and fans themselves, we've got all those accessories for you and more right here at etrailer.com. And that's going to do it for our look at the butyl tape for enclosed trailers.

The packaging of this butyl tape was horrible. It is usable but will be difficult to use. The pictures shows how bad it is beat up, looks like a potato chip.

by:

Used the Butyl tape to seal off the solar slide out topper in stalled on a 2021 Winnebago micro Minnie. 2108 DS
The tape works well as a sticky place holder while installing the top slide rail and under brackets

by:

Due tyo flopping around loosely inside the large shipping box, the roll was pretty beat-up and misshapen around the outer edges. However, it unrolled OK as long as I was careful to not "get ahead" of myself with the brown paper and the butyl tape, and working to not let the tape stretch longer than its original length.
Applying it to a powder-coated aluminum flat bar, it wanted to stick to my fingers more than the bar, so that part was a bit tricky. Once pressed in place, on the fiberglass side of my trailer, it made what appears to be a water-tight bond, all's well.

by:

The service at the trailer was excellen t.

by:

Its butyl tape, looks like it will do the job.

by:

The way they package their product creates a lot of chance of being damaged. It was great working with Will!

by:

arrived smooshed and heavily damaged. am having to install everything in 18" sections and mate them together

One year later still no leaks around solar panel install.

by:

Ordering was simple, and shipping was quick. The project is still in process so I can't comment of the product.

by:

  • Slider Awning Topper for 2020 Winnebago 2100BH

  • Recommended Slide-Out Awning For 2021 Jayco White Hawk 28RL With 141 Wide Slide Out
Since the 2021 Jayco White Hawk 28RL you are looking at has a slide out that measures 141" flange to flange the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning - 12'1" Wide - 48" Projection - Black # LCV000177334 you were looking at is the correct size as it is designed for slide outs that are 140"-145" wide. Using Butyl Tape # 362BT-18x1-50 when installing the brackets on your slide will seal the screw holes to prevent water from getting in your travel trailer. I included a video of the # LCV000177334 being...

  • Mounting of Solera RV Slide-Out Awning
For the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning, # LCV000165063 and all other awnings in this category, if at all possible, you will want to mount with a three inch height above top of slide out flange so as to provide the needed slope for proper draining when extended. Please note the linked installation video where Shane walks through the steps of measuring and installation. I highly suggest that you use Butyl Tape, # 362BT-18x1-50 when making the installation.

  • Slide Topper For A 2018 Avenger 28dbs With A 14' Slide
For your 2018 Avenger 28dbs I recommend the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning - 14'7" Wide - 48" Projection - Black Item # LCV000251477. This topper provides you with 3" of over hang on each end. You want the edges of the canopy to at least meet the outer edge of your T-molding that runs vertical on your slide out. This ensures you have a 3" overhang on each end past the edge of the inner box to prevent anything from blowing onto the top of your box from an angle. I also recommend putting Butyl...

  • Correct Slide Topper For A Slide Out That Is 103" wide
For a slide out that is 103" wide you need the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning - 9'1" Wide - 48" Projection - Black Item # LCV000168325. I also recommend using Butyl Tape for Enclosed Trailer - 1" Wide x 1/8" Thick - 50' Roll Item # 362BT-18x1-50 in between your mounting bracket and the wall. As the screw goes into the wall it grabs onto the butyl tape and pulls some into the hole to help seal the hole from water entering into your wall. If you have to use the extrusion rail I recommend putting...

  • Solera RV Slide-Out Awning Bracket Dimensions and Attachment Instructions
I have linked the photo I believe you are speaking of. The bracket on the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning part # LCV000182037 is right at 2" which should allow you to mount it in the space you have. We have always used the supplied fasteners which are threaded screws and have had zero issues. Using butyl tape like part # 362BT-18x1-50 also helps out in sealing the holes you create but acts as a slight buffer and helps keep any wiggling or movement to a minimum.

If your 2018 Lance 2375 TT slide box measures 90" then yes, you are correct. You would want the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning - 8'1" Wide - 48" Item # LCV000163289. Since there are so many different variations of campers and RV's, the awning extrusion rails are included in every kit. Not all campers and RV's will use them. • Slide Toper For 2020 Sierra 321RL
Ideally when you put a slide topper on, you would have a couple inches of overhang on the right and left sides. However, in your case, there just is not room for that. To have a slide topper you will have to buy one that is a little smaller than your slide. This means that instead of having a topper that is a couple inches bigger on each side - you will have a topper that is a couple inches too small on both sides. Most RV'ers will say that a slightly smaller topper is far better than...
