Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this smart plug RV internet inlet. Now this is going to be an ethernet data port that's going to provide a reliable hardwired internet connection so you can access the internet while you're walking on the road. This is rated for CAT 6 ethernet cables. And then of course you are going to have the signature smart plug design that's going to allow you to match your other smart plug inlets for cohesive setup. You have your same integrated seal inside the cover that's gonna keep the elements out when you don't have this in use.
It is gonna have the same UV and heat resistant plastic construction as well as the external metals that are marine grade 316 stainless steel. So it will hold up really well for you and match your other inlets. Very easy to get this installed. It does come with the silicone gasket that's gonna sit flush against your RV. You're not gonna need any clamp.
It does have the self adhesive on the back there so you can just peel off that backing, stick it in place and that's going to provide a nice snug fit so you don't have to worry about water getting your back behind there. This does not come with mounting hardware. You'll have to provide that yourself, but it should match up with existing holes if you are replacing another inlet. And this is made here in the USA so you can trust it's made to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US. And one more thing, you can notice that not only does it have the one ethernet port but it also has this blank port that you can easily remove if you want to add a second connection in the future, you've got that available for you.
That completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

Visually matches other SmartPlug inlets.Used for an outdoor Ethernet port on my garage deck. Works and looks great. And it’s water tight.
This awesome smart plug was installed on a 89 feet Azimuth yacht, it was easy to install and it looks like factory.
The ethernet p[lug has failed and I replaced it. Overall the smartplug is working great.
This is amazing. Easy to order and the product is a really high quality. I actually ordered this for our yacht.
Excellent product, good communications and quick shipping. Thanks!
Expensive!, But the absolute best there is! SS on your RV beats corrosion and failures.
Very nice plug, well made and looks great. I swapped the RJ-45 that came with it for one with a longer profile so I could use both the housing of the Plug and the connector to sandwich the unit to the trailer. I have an Airstream and that worked better than the shorter connecter that came with the unit. I also purchased additional RJ-45 connectors to add to the interior bulkhead that had a dust cover on it so I could cover it up if I didn't want to use it. Nice for when the trailer is at home and I want to connect to directly to my router in my home.
Does exactly what it’s supposed to do. No joke. It’s a pass through Ethernet port and guess what, it passes through your Ethernet. Can’t imagine a better product.
this will work for mu starlink connecti on
This lined up perfectly with the existing holes on my Airstream! Took all of about 1/2 to remove the old one feed the cables and get my starlink connected and online!
This was a relatively easy install. I had to make a 5/8 hole in the inner skin of the Airstream to get the cat cable through, but that wasn't hard.
Now I hook up my Starlink with running a cable through the main cabin door. Slick! Love it
A good idea, but has a couple issues. The ports are too close together, and make it difficult at times to put one in, while there is a plug occupying the other port. The "coated" screws that came with the connector have already started to discolor. Overall, it is a good, heavy duty product and works as described.
Great product, easy installation. Put it my camp trailer.
This is a very expensive piece but a great way to get an ethernet port cleanly added to your trailer. I simply replaced the existing port that had two coax connectors and installation was a breeze using my existing screws. The silicon gasket compresses nicely and looks watertight. My complaint about this product is the ethernet coupler. The coupler is plastic; it is not a shielded metal coupler. So if you are using shielded ethernet cable you are going to have to jury-rig a solution to maintain the continuity of the shielding. When I terminated my cable on the interior side, I made sure to have an extra long length of the drain wire. I threaded that through the plastic coupler to the exterior so that it would make contact with a shielded connector that was attached to the exterior of the port. It is annoying that on a part this expensive the manufacturer decided to save fifty cents by using an unshielded coupler.
The SmartPlug coax/Ethernet connector has allowed me to set up a Starlink dish outside my travel trailer with a clean, easy-to-use connection to the router inside my rig.
I have an issue with the smart plug. I asked in a chat before I placed the order if the plug came with just one coaxial plug and I was advised that that information was correct. They are shown in your website in that configuration, but it came as shown above. I intend to use the smart plug as an entry point into my airstream travel trailer for my Star Link satellite cable, so I will need to fabricate the back plate to allow me to drill a hole in it for the cam lock connection fitting. Had the unit come with just the one coaxial plug, I could have simply increased the hole size to accommodate the cam lock fitting. Needless to say, but I am less than excited. Perhaps I need to be more clear when asking a question relative to a product.
Excellent for bringing StarLink v2 into our trailer
Well made. Too bad they don’t make the fitting for a starlink for this plug. The conversion may be too difficult but that would be with the cable itself and not the plug.
Easy to install and hook up. I didn't have a way to run Starlink into my trailer, since it uses a proprietary cable and would require a large hole to fit it. With this plug, I can keep my Starlink modem and all the cables in a weatherproof box under my trailer.
I was concerned that the ethernet pass-through was below 1 gigabit, while my trailer's network is running 2.5 gigabits. I contacted the manufacturer and they confirmed that it supports 2.5 gigabit transfer rates.
Awesome product! Great company to work with. I gave it 4 stars because they only issue i see is when you plug your cables in, the cover doesn't close all the way becuase it would pinch the cables, it would be great if there was a cable pass-through on the bottom so you could close the cover and have the cables still come through. Just a notch with a rubber gasket. Food for thought.
So far we really like the product. We have an airstream Bambi and we wanted to replace the plastic factory cable outlet with a stainless steal. Installation was very easy, I took about 15 minutes. All the factory holes aligned up and no other modifications were needed.
The product I received does not have the same center orange insert as pictured. Instead it has an orange insert with two rectangular cutouts, one of them containing the coax. This is a problem for me because I intended to remove the coax and modify the orange insert. Now I have to find and modify a piece of plastic and hope it keeps its watertight integrity.
Good for job. Expensive, but well made.
