Video Transcript for Epicord 30 Amp Twist Lock Power Inlet Installation - 2018 Nissan NV 2500

Shane: Hi. I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at and I'm going to walk you through the installation on the Epicord 30 Amp Twist Lock Power Inlet on our 2013 Nissan NV 2500.Now, this is going to be great for getting your vehicle 30 amps of power or 125 volts. Like a lot of people are doing nowadays, they're taking vans like this then they're turning them into their own camper, so they can design them the way they want. A plug like this is going to allow you to run your lighting, run your refrigerator, run your air conditioner if you add one one, which generators, a lot of generators aren't going to be able to do. Or maybe you're like our customer here and they're starting a mobile grooming company for animals, or for dogs.

This is going to allow them to run their water pumps and their vacuum. Our plug's going to have a nice cover that's going to help protect all of our connections from any dirt and debris. It's going to have a seal right inside it. It's actually just like a piece of foam. It seals right around this edge. It's going to help keep any moisture or anything like that from getting in.

You can hear it kind of snaps into place, so it stays closed when you're not using it.It's going to work with your standard three-prong plug, RV plug, that has the twist cap or twist ring on it. You're going to stick it on, twist it, and then you turn the ring and it actually locks that plug into place.A great addition to this or the plug itself would be the Mighty Cord 90-Degree RV Power Cord Adapter. It's going to be 30 amp female side on one side that's going to hook in here and it's going to come down 90 degrees, so you're not putting pressure down on this edge. Then on the other end, you can hook just a regular plug into it and hook it into your house wall outlet. Maybe you have a small refrigerator or something inside that you want to keep cool or cool it off overnight, you have it parked in your driveway, you hook it up, add that adapter on, and hook that cord up to your wall outlet at home, you can have your refrigerator running all night long. Now I'm going to go over some of the features and show you how to get it installed.

First thing you're going to do is determine where you're going to put it. You can see our customer wants it right in this area. Before we start drilling it or cutting the hole in the side of the vehicle, we need to check on the inside to make sure we're not going to be hitting any wiring or anything like that. Our customer already has a panel up here, so what I did is I pulled it back and there's a large opening there. They had filled it with insulation, so what I did is I pulled the insulation out. Now, I know I'm clear.

I'm going to go ahead and drill my hole in the outside and then I'll come in here and I'll drill a small hole just big enough that I can fit my wiring in that's going to go to the plug. The 2-7/8 hole saw bit is not a common one, so you are probably going to have to special order it. There is not a lot of stores that are going to carry it. Now we're going to start drilling our hole. I'm actually going to move it up just a little bit, right at about the corner where they have it marked here.I'm going to take a file. I'm going to knock down all the burrs. Then you can either spray it with maybe clear coat or something. You just want to make sure you cover that bare metal. I'm actually going to use a paint marker. This is all going to be covered up by the plug, so we're not going to see any of it. Just want to make sure if by chance any water or anything like that gets in there, it just keeps it from corroding.Next thing I'm going to do is I need to mark out four of my screw holes. The directions tell you to use #8 stainless steel screws. What I'm going to do is I'm actually going to use a #8 stainless steel bolt, a pan head bolt, and a lock washer and nut on the back side. Now, all we're doing is installing the plug.If you are adding the wiring onto it now, what you want to do is you want to pull your wiring through the hole. You're going to take this cap off. You're going to feed . You're actually going to put your cap, this cap here, on your wiring, feed your wiring through here. It's going to come out here, and then you're going to wire it to the back of your plug. You're going to take this cap. You'll tighten this down, and that'll lock your wires in place. Then you can bolt it to the side wall of the vehicle.Because my customer has not ran any of their wiring yet, they're going to wire it their self, and we're only putting the plug on for them, we're going to go ahead and mark our holes, drill our holes, and put the nut and the bolt in. 1/8" drill bit. Now your nuts and bolts, or your screws, actually, do not come with the plug, so this is something you will have to pick up.Now, I'll pull this back off. Again, I'm going to take my paint marker and cover up that bare metal. Again, we're not wiring our plug, we're just pre-installing the plug for now. It's a good idea, if you have your wiring ran, to go ahead and install it onto the plug before putting your plug or mounting your plug to the wall, because that plug has to be off, the twist lock has to be off, in order to get your wiring through, and it's all on the outside.Again, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. I hope this video has helped you, whether you're still deciding on the plug or installing it on your 2018 Nissan NV 2500.

Works great! I wanted to add another outlet to my RV, so I could plug in a generator. It was perfect for this and easy to install.

by:

Great service! My part arrived on time, and was as advertised. I will absolutely use etrailer again.

by:

Not the best picture, but the only one I've got. This gives power to all my 120-volt circuits in my mobile home. I've needed it 6 times since installing. Everything is easier when you have power to the refrigerator.

by:

Solved my problem of mice entering camper thru plastic cord door, they chewed a hole in it this product replaced that entryway. No problem with installation

by:

Doesn't begin to compare with the quality of the receivers already on my ambulance that are still working on this 32 year old rig. However, they are 30% of the cost of those plugs. Time will tell if the prongs hold up. Very pleasantly surprised by the delivery time.

by:

A year after installing my Epicord 30 Amp Twist Lock Power Inlet, I would recommend it for anyone with a light-duty needs.
It works just fine and is sturdy enough, but a bit difficult to line the plug pins up when plugging in at night. The pins tend to bend just enough to keep things from lining up.
Still, for the price it's tough to beat the function.

by:

I wanted to add 30A power to my trailer so that I could run install and air conditioner. This inlet was easy to install.

Drpcfix

Trailer has been plugged into my home for nearly a year without an issues related to the inlet.

by:

Even though the product was backordered it came in and was shipped in a reasonable amount of time and look of good quality have not been able to install it yet because of weather

Its been a year this product continues to preform flawlessly

by:

Nice quality replacement male plug. Easily installed and working great.

Guy T.

It got a lot of use over last 3 months and working fine.

by:

I placed an order online then realized I needed something else. I called a few minutes later to add something to my order, the woman I spoke to said my order was already being prepared for shipment then she went the extra mile to add the power inlet to the order so I would still get the free shipping. Two days later I had my order.

by:

I'm redoing a 1959 Scotty Serro Camper but upgrading the electrical and plumbing etrailer seems to be a one stop shopping spot. One suggest would be to list other parts that would go with the assembly. Otherwise great job and the part works great also

by:

Great replacement piece and very easy to install. Was not quite as solidly built as the original piece, but I expect this item will last for years. etrailer probably stocks a heavier-made power inlet, but it's difficult to tell which piece better suits your needs if you only look through the website. A phone call will produce better results if you're unsure.

by:

My issue is the setup required a new hole to be drilled as the receptacle would not fit the hole for my old pull out plug. Otherwise I do like that the cord can be wrapped up and stowed instead of shoved through a hole. The cord has also been plenty long and hooks up easily.

by:

Using this product for a back up plan for electrical problem I had for a small building. As always etrailer had the wright product for a great price. Shipped fast and on time with tracking. Great products, great people, and fast sevice.

by:

Nice product. I bought a pair, one black, one white. While the product is nice, it's etrailer that makes the difference

Finding a piece-part like this can be a challenge. I'm an engineer and know how to do it and it's hard to plow through mfg catalogs specifying a part number among dozens of options. Even then it's hard to buy just one. OEMs and distributed want to quote a hundred or a thousand.

etrailer has done all that work, has it in stock, with helpful people and complete info in easy to understand language.

Good part, good price, in stock and delivered on time.

by:

Product is excellent. As in shipping my own post office received but did not get to me. Possibly put in someone else's mail box. But the great news is etrailer sent me another an made sure I received. Very top line action for customers

by:

Well its been a year the twist lock 30amp plug looks and works Great, thank you. the mice dont like it, no more getting in the RV.

by:

Simple installation and perfect match to the previous one, which was scraped off by my storage yard neighbor. His son's trailer backing lesson could have gone better, but he will never forget that one...

by:

The people at etrailer.com were prompt, courteous and the product was exactly what I needed at a great price. This is the second time I purchased from them and they are now in my favorites list on my browser.

by:

I sold the trailer on which I installed this device. It still worked well when I sold it.

by:

Good product, fit and finish are what was needed to replace the badly arced original power inlet. Thanks.

by:

This is a very good shore power plug. It does exactly what you'd expect.

by:

Excellent match up for the power cord I bought from etrailer. The lid shuts tight and stays tight. The connection is easy to make and stays secure with the screw on ring.

by:

Excellent!!

I actually could
talk to them on the phone!
They were very helpful determining which electrical connector I needed.

Good quality, fit correctly & the price was right.
Item #277-000137 & F30FMPSY

by:

Only thing I did not like was that the mounting hardware did not come with it. the product was exactly as specified and good quality, and looks great
