    Hello Ron, The Optronics LED RV Step Area Light # ILL86CB draws a paltry 0.25 amps because it's an LED, so very, very little power is needed. As for a light that mounts horizontally and shines down, the only option we have is 0.107 amp draw Optronics LED RV Step Area Light # ILL85CB.

  • Can I Wire ILL85CB Into A Dimming Rocker Switch?
    Hey June, You could absolutely wire it into a dimmer switch like # 37212275. That is something you would wire to the power or ground wire of your porch light. I reached out to the manufacturer about the wire size, but have not heart back. Most commonly wire sizes for a light like that are between 14 and 18 awg. That is most commonly found for RV lighting like that. How has it been working out as a porch light? That is pretty unique application.

    I pulled a LED Step/Area Light # ILL85CB from our warehouse to measure the wire that comes from the assembly and found that the portion that has the black cover over the wires measures 41 inches and the exposed white and black wires measure an additional 5 inches.     The LED Step/Area Light, # ILL85CB, includes a foam gasket for a weathertight seal to protect it from the elements. You would not want to submerge the light underwater. In order for something to be considered waterproof, it has to be able to be submerged under water for a certain amount of time and a certain depth and remain functional. You will also need to make sure that the wire connections are sealed by using shrink tubing or some liquid electrical tape, # SWC50122.
