Advent Air Dometic Plug-In

This AC unit from Advent Air is designed to replace the old or broken Dometic air conditioner on your RV or camper. It plugs directly into your Dometic setup and works seamlessly with your existing, in-good-working-order Dometic air distribution box and thermostat. This eliminates the need of an adapter wiring kit, which saves you time and effort. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace your AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), youll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

It has been a good unit. It is still kicking out cold air. It would be even better if it wasn't as noisy but I have yet to see any rv acts that are. The price was the main reason I went with this unit along with free shipping, couldn't be beat. Also the customer service was top notch. Thanks

Just had it put in and love it. Had the best experience with yall.i like how I was able to track my package. I will be sending other people your way. Ashley was great on the phone. Thanks alot

If it's still blowing air but it's not as cold as it should be, it could be an issue as simple as the filter or coils need to be cleaned. I will attach a link to our help articles with troubleshooting for AC units. If its not the filter, it could be a bad compressor or capacitor.

best price on ebay and super quick deli very

It was installed as a second unit with manual controls and heater upgrade. It has performed great, no complaints. Love having a cool trailer on just minutes.

Very satisfied with the quality and performance. I use a 2400 watt generator and the AC unit starts up with ease. I installed the hard start kit. The heat setting takes the chill off, when I have shore power. I’m glad I installed the heating kit.kp

In a three year period I'd replaced two Dometic HVAC units on my 2016 Forest River TT that I'd purchased new because they'd completely stopped producing cold air during the hottest months of each summer. I google searched for an exact replacement unit and came across Advent Air, it truly was an exact replacement and fit perfectly without any modifications, the price of the unit was appealing as well. It's been an year now and it has performed as well as an HVAC is expected to perform and is also running at half the noise level the Dometic was. I can actually hear my television now while it's running. Great product so far!!!

by:

Working well so far - no issues. Just make sure the start capacitor wires aren't hitting the blower fan when you install. That was my mistake.

by:

Works great. Had some issues with shipping. It was damaged but the folks at etrailer took care of my needs very quickly and made it right

I couldn't be more disappointed in this unit. I initially bought as an alternative to a 15k ducted Dometic unit that went bad and quit cooling in my 2018 Heartland Bighorn. The description at the time said it was a direct replacement and was 1/3 the price so I bought it. Like a lot of others, it showed up with a damaged cover. etrailer says they'll ship a new one when they get back in stock so that's no big deal. The issues began when I started the install. I got my old unit off the roof and the new one up. The footprint is considerably smaller so all the old mounting holes fell outside the gaskets area so I had holes to patch in my roof. The cutout size was exact, but there was no center divider to separate the return air from the supply air so I had to make one of those too. I went to hook up the wiring and, lo and behold, the control box wasn't included and wasn't compatible with my Dometic unit and there isn't an adapter available. Back to etrailer to order the control box I needed. Finally figured out how to rewire my camper to match the new box (again, no adapters or instructions are available) and found out my Dometic thermostat isn't compatible with the new control box. Finally sourced one from Amazon since etrailer doesn't sell it and got that installed a few days ago. Turned everything back on and it started to run. Checked all 3 fan speeds and everything seemed to be working good. It was 87 in the camper after sitting in the Spring sun of South Carolina all day. Let it run on high for an hour and a half and went back out to check on things. It had only dropped to 84 degrees! It's not even remotely hot outside yet. The air was coming out cool, just very little volume. If this is how it's going to be this thing is getting ripped back off and I'll bite the bullet and buy a Dometic again.

Long story summed up - compatible doesn't mean anything and upgrade is a complete lie. This is the first time I've truly been let down by etrailer.

by:

The main problem with these units is the shipping container. This was the third unit that arrived damaged. UPS must have flipped the box over on its top and crushed the compressor terminal housing. The impact was hard enough for one of the terminal screws to punch a hole through the top cover of air conditioner. I waited weeks for this unit to be in stock again and now they want me to wait weeks more to get a replacement. as for the quality of the unit itself: unknown since I can't get a fully functional unit to install. Probably going with a Furion or Dometic at this point.

by:

Advent 15000 BTU AC. Best price I could find on the internet or anywhere else for that matter. I received the unit 4 days earlier than expected which was a good thing. The installation, including getting it on the roof, was about 30 minutes. The Advent was a direct replacement for a 4/5-year-old Dometic Brisk II that quit cooling. The Advent is slightly quitter that the Dometic but of course that is only my subjective opinion. On low speed you can continue an intelligible conversation. The Advent has been installed 3 days now and it is working great.
I have purchased from etrailer in the past and have been completely satisfied. There are three concern/issues that need to be mention/address. (1) Packaging could have been better. The box it came in looked like it had been rolling around in the back of a UPS truck. (2) There was no installation instruction or owner’s manual whatsoever that came with the unit. I pulled mine off the internet. (3) the unit had minor damage on the base or main frame of the unit (I hope it does not cause issue later). The damage was not so bad as to cause forgoing the installation. Since the shipping box did not show any noticeable damage at the location of the damage on the unit, I can only assume that it was shipped by etrailer that way which is a QC issue.

by:

The last 2 AC replacements I had to do I went with Advent instead of Dometic for several rteasons including quality and price. And etrailer has the very best customer service and prices around! Good AC at a good price with good service. What more could you asl for?

by:

The unit was very easy to replace. The old unit was a 13,500 Btu Dometic. I was told (by etrailer) this unit would be a plug and play type since I had a previous Dometic system. Both units have the same wiring system, and they do. I simply unplugged the quick connect from old unit, removed the cooling sensor from the fins, removed the 4 bolts securing the unit to the RV, replaced the old unit with the new upgraded Advent #ACM150 15,000 Btu unit. Repeated the procedure in reverse with the new unit and the process was complete. I'm 'EXTREMELY PLEASED' with the new Advent unit and the ease of switching both units out. I Highly recommend 'etrailer' for Quick delivery Service, Reasonable Price and Professionalism. P.S. I apologize for not taking picture's /video of procedure.

by:

Shipped quick , once was restocked, came in with small damages to outside shell and small dent on side, almost pinched copper line, should be packaged better from company for shipping (not an ETrailer issue)so far unit seems to be working better then the original (never worked) and replacement 13500 units that Camping World had put on trailer (took off another trailer) so I decided to buy my own to replace since no trust in Camping World and work performed

by:
