This aluminum, folding rack lets you safely transport 1 kayak on your vehicle's roof. Folding arms pivot to accommodate almost any size kayak or paddleboard. Universal clamp-on brackets mount on most roof rack crossbars with no tools required.
Features:
Specs:
Each cradle has an integrated lever that allows you to adjust the upright arm to fit virtually any size kayak. Simply rotate both of the side levers forward and pivot the arm to the appropriate angle to ensure that your boat sits properly in the cradle. Notched pivot points allow for precise positioning. Rotate the levers back to lock each arm into place.
Installation is quick and easy and doesn't require any tools. The included mounting clamps on these cradles fit round, square, aero/elliptical, crescent-shaped, and most factory crossbars. First, position the cradles so that they are lined up correctly and are sitting at least 24" apart. Then slide the mounting clamps underneath your roof rack's crossbars and attach them to the cradles with the included hardware. Use the included hand knobs to easily tighten and secure the clamps around your crossbars.

Good quality materials and easy to install - and uninstall. Two changes would give this product 5 stars: Some type of strap holder at the top of the back rack would make it easier to strap down the kayaks and some type of security lock so someone doesn't borrow your new racks while you are out kayaking. One unique thing to remember for the 2017 Toyota RAV4: the back OEM cross bar is about 3" shorter than the front cross bar - this takes some adjustments for the placement of the racks to fit 2 kayaks and still open the rear hatch.
Used them a couple times and they are performing as expected. I have to mount the kayaks a little forward to clear the 5-er, but they road well at 65 mph into a head wind. Yes, bow straps are used.
These carriers held fast as we headed home during an awful storm. Passing semi-trucks caused some shaky nerves watching the bows of our 12' kayaks wiggle a bit in the heavy cross-winds. A quick stop a couple times en route proved they were still nice and snug. Getting the straps in place per the manual takes more than one try sometimes; no big deal. These are excellent carriers
Quality of the devices is great. Ability to strap an inflatable paddle board to them is atrocious.
Ordered 2 pair of Curtis kayak carries and they arrived sooner than I expected. Tracking info provided by etrailer made it easy to follow my order up to and including delivery. etrailer’s price of the carries was lower than competitors with free shipping. Very satisfied with my purchase through etrailer.
We love these foldable kayak carriers! They have worked well for us each time. The fact that they can be folded for going under the garage door is a definite plus!
Kayak racks work as described and have held up to the elements. Very easy to install and holds kayaks securely at highway speeds. I’m happy with the purchase.
I only used this product one time thus far; however, it worked well. It was the product I needed and the organization to purchase it from was etrailer.
Well made, decent price, free and fast delivery. My only complaint is about how awkward it is to get the straps up and over the kayak. But that is true of most carriers of this design.
Excellent product! Comes completely assembled and easy to mount and use. Which we did within hours of receiving. No problem mounting 2 sets on the car and carrying 2 kayaks at the same time.
Quick service! Box was not damaged at all. Just what I wanted.

I am sorry to hear that Loren, maybe these tricks will help: When carrying an inflatable paddle board on the Curt 18320 J-style carrier, it helps to leave the board slightly underinflated, around 80 to 90 percent. This gives it enough shape to stay put while allowing some flexibility so the straps don’t create pressure points. Adding padding to the J-cradles, like foam or pool noodles, will help protect the board and spread out the contact area. When strapping it down, use cam straps only and run them over the widest part of the board. Tighten just enough to keep it from moving, but not so much that the board visibly compresses. Using bow and stern tie-downs is a good idea to reduce lift and keep the board stable at highway speeds. It’s also smart to stop after the first few miles to recheck the straps, since inflatable boards can settle slightly once you start driving. Please let me know if that helps =)
