When you’re driving down the highway, the last thing you want is a constant hum from your roof rack. The aerodynamic design of the WingBar Evo helps smooth out airflow to reduce wind noise and vibration. The split rubber strips in the top channels close around your mounted accessories, sealing out the wind so you can focus on the road instead of the whistling overhead.
These bars make it easy to haul whatever the trip calls for—cargo boxes, bikes, kayaks, skis, or camping gear. The top channels let you slide in channel-mount accessories without trimming any strips, while the rounded bar shape also works with clamp-on attachments. It’s a flexible setup that fits how you adventure, whether it’s loading up for a weekend getaway or a day at the lake.
Each bar is made from durable aluminum and designed to support up to 165 lbs of gear (always follow your vehicle’s roof load limit). At 50" long x 3-1/8" wide x 1" tall, the bars strike a balance between strength and low weight. It’s a solid system that can carry everything from fishing kayaks to heavy cargo boxes without flexing or rattling.
You can add Thule’s One-Key System locks (sold separately) to secure both the rack and any channel-mounted gear. It’s an easy way to deter theft when you’re parked overnight or at a trailhead. The same key can work across multiple Thule accessories, keeping your setup simple and protected.
Installing this system is straightforward thanks to the Evo Raised Rail feet that clamp directly to your vehicle’s raised rails. No drilling or complicated setup—just a snug, custom fit that stays put mile after mile. Once everything is tightened down, you’ve got a sturdy base ready for just about any kind of outdoor or travel gear.

Hi, this is Scott with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at and installing our Thule WingBar Evo for Raised Rails on our 2025 Subaru Forester. Our Thule roof racks we have on our Subaru today are gonna be a good option for anyone looking for a good way to carry their kayaks on the roof of their Subaru. Or I've seen people even use bike racks up there, that mount, you know. Rooftop carriers are also a good option. Gives you a little more room to put some stuff on top.
These look really good and they function really well. The security on these is also really nice 'cause you can change it up. You can add on security features like locks on all of your mounts. As far as measurements go, from our roof to the bottom of our bar, we're looking at three and three quarters inches. And with that measurement you'll be able to decide if you have a sunroof or a moon roof, if you'll be able to open that up.
And that's how much clearance you're gonna have. Now, as far as overhang for the edges of your bars, they do stick out a little bit. I'd say maybe three to four inches on the sides. So, it's not something you're gonna be bumping your head on or anything like that. And also, where you mount these, you can kind of move these around where you want 'em, and to have 'em.
It kind of depends on what you have for accessories, but you can loosen these up and move these back and forth wherever you want them. To start our installation, we got all of our parts out and we wanted to make sure we had everything in our kit. So, what we have is this rubber strip and that's gonna come as one piece. So, what we want to do is just pull that apart, (strip pulls) all the way down, and we're gonna have a flat side. We're also gonna have a side with arrows on it.
Now, the side with arrows, we're gonna want on this part that's wider in the front. All we're gonna do is get that lined up on our ends and go along and pop that in place. Now, for our flat strip, we're gonna just pop that in place on the other side. Now, in your kit, you're gonna have this plastic piece. You're gonna have four of these. And what this is gonna do is it's basically gonna slide into this end of our bar. And we want our notch to go all the way to the end. And what this is gonna do is it's gonna serve as a built-in tape measure, but also what it's gonna do once we get our ends in place, these are gonna go towards our ends and act as a wind dampener so we don't get any whistling. So, they kind of serve a dual purpose. After we have those installed, we'll take our ends and we'll just get that slid in place (end rattles) and we'll do that on both sides. Now, we can get our end caps installed. We're gonna have this little end here that's gonna have a little clip and we want that to match up with this. What we'll do is get that started, (hand taps) just give that a tap. (hand taps) They can be a little tricky to get installed. (hand taps) (hand taps) Give 'em a tap and those will click in place. Now, on your end, you're gonna have these end caps. Just wanna pop them off. Just push that little tab and pull them off on both sides. (end cap clatters) Now, we can get our bars put on top of our vehicle. Now, you're gonna have two different sides. You're gonna have this side that kind of tapers down. You want this wider part to be facing the front of the vehicle. Now, when we get these put in place, you're gonna have this rubber flap. You want this rubber flap to be out. You don't want that bound up, up under here. You want that to kind of lay over the top of your bar. Now, once we're getting our racks put in place, we wanna make sure that we check our measurement between these two points. We wanna make sure it's the same on both sides of our vehicle. Another thing we want to check is our measurement from the edge of our rack out to either the end of this or to the silver point. We want those the same on both sides. And we'll do the same with the rack in the rear. We want the measurements to be the same here and that same on the other side. Once we get to that point, we can come back through and we'll just tighten down our mounts with our supplied wrench. This is gonna be basically a torque wrench. We're gonna tighten it down so far and once it gets to the torque that it needs to be at (wrench clicks) it's gonna give us an audible pop. And once we have that tightened down, we'll take our cap, pop that in place. Now we'll turn the little cylinder and that will lock our cap on. The Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars were very easy to assemble. I used a YouTube video to review assembly. Assembly was a breeze. The crossbars and attachments made the task of installation of the rook rack simple. The Thule Evo roof rack system is sturdy and good looking.

Swapping lock cylinders with the Thule system is easy. I have several Thule products including bike rake with built in lock, locking cross bars for our cars, cargo box, and bought cylinders and the Change Key to replace cylinders so I only need one key for all our Thule products. etrailer delivered them fast.
My order was processed very quickly and shipped in a timely manner. Everything arrived in great shape. I am pairing my Thule crossbar kit with a Thule Force XT cargo box to increase my capacity for hauling camping gear for a family of 4 in a 2019 Subaru Forester. The Thule Evo Rail feet with 60" wing bars are an excellent choice for folks who routinely transport bulky equipment on their vehicle rooftops. The instructions for mounting were straightforward and easy (especially with the installation video link). I had to extend the slots under each wingbar to make them fit my 2004 Dodge Durango roof rails, but besides that, I'm thoroughly happy with the product. Do order the key locks separately, as they do not come with the feet.

Installed these with the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars on a Mercedes GLS 450 SUV. It was a pretty quick install however, they impede the panoramic sunroof from opening. The locks that come with are plastic and they're okay, but I'd recommend getting the metal locks that you can order separately for more security. They do make a whistling sound when driving, but it's not loud enough for me to care. All in all, these are great.
Bought these for our Jeep Cherokee but they struggle to fit the wider rails on the vehicle. Have to lubricant these to slide on. Often the boot come off when removing them or just transporting them from storage to the vehicle. I wish the locked cover was made of something stronger since someone could easily break the plastic and use a Allen wrench to remove them rack and what’s mounted to it. Otherwise I’m happy with these. I like the size and torque limiting features of the included wrench
I really like the included tool used for tightening to the roof rails. I have a tendency to over tighten things and this tool prevents that from happening.
I ordered the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - Silver - 50" with the Evo Flush Rail Feet for Thule Crossbars - Flush Side Rails and the Fit Kit for Thule Evo Flush Rail and Edge Flush Rail Roof Rack Feet for my 2020 Mazda CX9. I appreciated the product selector to make sure I was getting all the correct parts. I was happy with the products, but I did run into an issue where 1 of the rail feet had a defective bolt which required a replacement. I was very satisfied with etrailer's customer support, and how well they worked with me to get the part replaced quickly. I'm giving this a 4 start only because of the hassle of receiving a defective one initially
I needed to update the feet for my Thule areo blade cross bars. With ease I was able to swap the feet and transfer the locs to the new feet. The install was super easy. Finding the right product was a breez with a quick email to Etrailer customer service.

If you haven't been able to find it, we carry the replacement - part # TH49VW. One of the nice things about Thule is that almost every part is replaceable. :)

I’ve been searching for a set of crossbars for my 2021 Crosstrek. After looking at several different companys,, I decided to go with etrailer.com and get the Thule Wingbar Evo Crossbars and Evo Raised feet. Ordering was quick and shipping was even faster! This is my first Thule product but not my last. etrailer was great to deal with the videos on how to install the product were so helpful. Between etrailer's help and all the reviews that other people had purchased and posted made this a very pleasant purchase and install. I highly recommend etrailer and the complete Thule WingBar system including the keylocks that worked perfectly. I typically don't write reviews but this one was worth doing.

Thanks to etrailer.com, I found out these crossbar systems are just bags of interchangeable parts! So glad I didn’t toss my 2019 53” crossbars when they started whistling (Screeching!) at speeds above 45 mph. I had them removed from my ProMaster City van when I couldn’t stand it any more. Luckily i did some research and took them totally apart. The old raised rail feet were pretty trashed, but was able to clean the bars up and reuse the existing end caps and locks. The video instructions on etrailer.com were invaluable, and I was able to find the exact parts I needed. My 2019 crossbar system is like new at a fraction of the price id have paid for a new system!
The crossbars don't make noise while driving and the aluminum bar itself is 50" not including the plastic end cap, unlike some other brands. Perfect size. The rubber strips are badly designed, though. One blew off in a thunderstorm. Etrailer was great about addressing the problem. Even though it wasn't covered under warranty they promptly sent new ones.
Awesome, literally showed up overnight and didn't have to spend extra money to have that happen. The item is wonderful. Easy to install. Read the instructions make sure orientation is correct.
I had my old feet from my Jeep Cherokee on my Jeep Compass and realize they were not secure. So now I have the right feet on my car,

The raised feet help to bring the crossbars up in height so that when we haul our canoe it does not hit the top of the car. We are still enjoying the car now that it is accessorized.
