When you’re loading up for a big trip, you need bars that can handle the weight and stay solid. The Thule SquareBar Evo Roof Rack uses galvanized steel crossbars built for dependable strength. Each bar supports up to 220 lbs?(as long as it’s within your vehicle’s roof load limit), so you can carry kayaks, canoes, or camping gear without worry. The steel build gives you the stability and durability needed for long hauls and rugged use.
Nothing’s worse than gear shifting while you’re on the road. The polymer coating on these 53" x 1-1/4" x 7/8" bars adds extra grip so your cargo stays put. It also helps prevent corrosion, which keeps the bars looking sharp and performing like new after rain-soaked or salty road trips. Whether you’re hauling a cargo box or paddleboards, that coating adds peace of mind every time you tie down your load.
You don’t need a new set of attachments just to use these crossbars. The square shape is ready for most clamp-on accessories—cargo boxes, kayak carriers, or other gear holders—making it easy to keep using your favorite mounts. This rack setup gives you flexibility to bring along whatever fits your adventure plans.
The system includes two SquareBars, four Evo Flush Rail feet, and a custom fit kit designed for a secure installation to flush rails. Once mounted, you can add Thule One-Key System locks (sold separately) to deter theft of the rack itself. It’s a straightforward setup that feels solid once in place and offers an easy upgrade if you want extra protection for your gear.
This roof rack is designed for years of use under every kind of trip—cross-country drives, lake weekends, or daily hauling runs. With its steel construction, protective coating, and Thule’s limited lifetime warranty, it’s a setup that’s ready to go wherever your plans take you.

The crossbars are great. I’ve used it many times for my kayak using it with Thule kayak carrier. To eliminate the whistling sound I ed some insulation foam in each end of the bars. Now it’s totally quiet.

The square bars are known to whistle compared to the aerodynamic cross bars. I recommend the Thule AirScreen XT part # TH22WV to divert the wind up and over the cross bars to eliminate some of the wind noise.

After having the rack on my car for about a year I can say the bars are still pretty noisy even with my modification. I know theyre square bars and by definition square bars are noisy but I frankly think Thules design of the feet that attach the bars to the roof is not particularly aerodynamic either and so the feet are contributing significantly to the wind noise, too. I bought square bars because I have some older roof attachments that were designed for square bars and I wanted to reuse them instead of having to buy all new ones for a different bar shape. The old attachments fit just fine on these bars so Ill save the money and live with the wind noise.
