Video Transcript for Yakima Bike Racks Replacement Secondary Pull Pin Assembly Review

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline, and today we're taking a look at the Replacement Secondary Pull Pin for your Yakima Bike Racks right here at etrailer. So we actually have Yakima OnRamp right here, and this is the original part that came with it. Now the cable got snagged and was pulled off of the pin. So what happens is when we take the pin out, you're just gonna have to hold onto it or lose the pin. So if that has ever happened to you, here's the replacement part for it. So this has the gray knob, you have your 16 millimeter barrel, you have your little push pin there and then you have this cable to secure it to the rack.

This also has a coating or a plastic cover over that metal cable, which is good because I definitely scratched up my thumb with the old one. This does not include the mounting hardware, so hopefully you still have yours on your bike rack. And you're also going to need a T30 sized torx wrench to loosen that bolt. So you'll find that bolt on this side of your OnRamp bike shank. And once that's loose, hold onto that bolt and that washer.

Now put your bolt in your washer through the cable of your new push pin and put that on your bike rack. With that tightened down, that's it. You are able to replace the secondary pull pin for your bike rack. So for the different parts of your Yakima bike racks we have the replacement parts for you. Hopefully this video will help you out with seeing what is included, what's not included, what you actually need.

If you need other parts, let's say these knobs for the track or parts of your wheel assembly, you can find them here at etrailer. Check out our pictures and check out our videos to help you out..

I would give you a 5 star rating but the Replacement Pull Pin does not have the black plastic clip to attach the cable to the hitch. I see you have it shown as being included in your current parts list. If you respond to this review stating you will forward the clip I will change my review to 5 stars. I plan to order two orange replacement end caps for my Yakima bike rack which are waiting to complete my order in the shopping cart. You could include the black clip with that order.

The Yakima bike rack with a ramp has been great for transporting our ebikes. We are currently on vacation in Cape Cod and have biked on the rail trail to Dennis and Chatham as well as the dunes in Provincetown. The rack has been easy to use, secure and very stable wherever we have been.

Perfect replacement. Exactly what I nee ded!

Excellent fit and thanks for the follow up and your reply to my question. I think the vendor should relook at the areas of the bike rack that our failing as much as etrailer does.

This product fit my Yakima bike rack perfectly. It helps hold the rack in upwards position which has helped stop the rattling and knocking the rack makes when my bike isn't mounted. The part was shipped out and I received it fast!!! In 2 days. Great service from this company.

Lauren was great at finding solutions to a not-so-easy problem. Good job!

First off, etrailer is awesome! They got my part to me quickly when I originally ordered it. The reason I ordered it in the first place is that there is a design flaw. The cable that is used to prevent losing the pin eventually gets chopped in half from shoving it into the rack over and over...and yes, you guessed it...you lose the pin. Also, the hole where the cable is attached is too far down on the pin. It needs to be in the head of the pin where it will not have any contact with the rack itself. This would also ensure that the pin is more secure in the rack since more of the pin is able to slide into the rack rather than stopping halfway. So heads up Yakima! I'm sure I will eventually have to order another one.

My wife and I have continued to enjoy our Yakima ramp on rack. Our electric bikes, each way is 65 pounds so the the ramp makes it much easier to load the bikes. The only negative that I would have to say is that it would be ideal. If the ramp connection to the rack was more secure, i.e. if it could be clipped on because impracticality, sometimes the ramp shifts position went offloading the bikes which makes it difficult to smoothly, offload them, and can result in one of the wheels coming out of the ramp track

@Jeffrey Thanks for sharing! I'm glad you all are able to enjoy your bike rack, even if the ramp isn't staying put very well for you. I do agree that a lot of the ramp add-ons would benefit from having some sort of clip or something on them.

Wasn't correct

I was pleasantly surprised to find this part available, ordered it and I was notified along the way of its delivery. It arrived ahead of schedule plus, it’s an original part so works perfectly. Thank you.

by:

Excellent product with fast delivery

by:

It is great that such a minor but easy to lose element of my hitch was in stock and affordable at etrailer.

by:

I lost this safety pin after only using my bike rack a few times. When I went to the site where I got the rack they were going to charge me over $16 for shipping of this $8 part. I called a dealer and he told me about etrailer. I was very pleased that they only charged $2.99 for shipping.

by:

Lost the original after I failed to install it on my Yakima OnRamp bike rack. The new one I will install with not only the steel cable, but a bungee cord as well…. So it won’t be able to bounce off the pavement until it breaks.

by:

Easy to order and delivered quickly. I know I can rely on etrailer!

The secondary pull pin for my ramp on 2 e-bike Yakima rack is working well, however it is easy to forget to attach this when finished loading 2 bike. The length of the stainless cable to attach this pin to the rack is such that if you forget to place it and drive away it will hit something as you drive and become detached and lost. It would be better to attach a shorter cable with elasticity to prevent this occurrence.
