Most ladder racks don't work with your covered truck bed. The JayBar mounts directly to your Fas-Top rails, carrying ladders, lumber, or a kayak above your truck bed while your tonneau cover or soft topper stays fully usable.
Once you add a tonneau cover or topper, the way you use your truck bed changes. You still use that space for tools, groceries, and other gear you want kept out of the rain and out of sight, but most covers don't allow a rack on top for carrying ladders or other long items. Using the JayBar with a Fas-Top cover gives you a way to do both at the same time.
Loads change from one trip to the next. One day it's ladders, the next it's uneven stacks of lumber. Fixed tie-down points don't change, so straps end up pulling at awkward angles or wrapped around whatever part of the rack is closest. The JayBar has channels with sliding anchor points, so your tie-downs go exactly where the load sits. And when your straps pull straight, your ladders sit snug and won't rattle around or slide.
The JayBars handle long cargo on their own, but some loads need more than a flat surface. You may need to haul gas cans, recovery gear, and other accessories that can't sit on the crossbars. The optional side bars (FT28YJ - sold separately) give those items a place to mount along the sides of the rack and serve as the attachment point for other Fas-Top accessories.
Fas-Top tie-downs (FT25YJ - sold separately) add fixed anchor points on the rack, giving your straps a consistent place to pull from instead of wrapping around bars wherever they happen to fit.
The Gripstix cargo grabber (FT52YJ - sold separately) gives you a way to load, lift, and move items in your truck bed without climbing in or overreaching.
G-Hook Straps (FT65YJ - sold separately) hook directly into the rack and accessories, letting you roll up the sides of your Fas-Top truck topper and secure them out of the way. This gives you quick access to the bed and lets the topper function as a sunshade when you are parked.
Large and small cargo bags (FT72AB and FT75YJ - sold separately) keep items contained so they're not rolling around in your truck bed or getting lost under larger gear.
