Hi everyone. I'm Evangeline right here at etrailer. Today we're taking a look at our Romik Hitch Step. This is specifically designed as the RAL-TS Hitch Step. If you have the matching running boards, this is designed to fit perfectly together with that so you have this full system that not only looks good, but also functions really well. Now, the main purpose to a hitch step is if you need something that gives you good bit stability as you go up and get your boost.
This specific one is designed to have that nice aluminum finish, but then you also have your rubberized centerpieces just to give you a bit more stability there. And then you have your end caps. Now, while we have our bolt in there holding it tight, preventing side to side movement, there may be some up and down movement as well, but once you get up and onto that step, some things to think about are, while this does have a 500-pound weight capacity, that is not just designed for you as you go up and down that step, but also for whatever you may want to carry. This will be ideal if you have a ladder rack or a roof rack on your vehicle. You need to get up there and strap things down.
There is a little bit of side to side movement, which I would be mindful of as you are taking up those steps. Plus, this is a 36-inch long aluminum step, but those end caps are a bit more for design. Your actual step should stay mainly on the aluminum. Don't rely too much on those end pieces. With that in mind, I highly recommend taking a look at some anti-rattle collar options to use in addition to this step.
Since this fits into two-inch hitch receivers, this will fit nicely into your truck spot and then you can always get a two-inch anti-rattle collar if you are concerned with that side to side movement. I don't think it's that big of a deal. My main thing is, will it stay in there as I'm driving around and will it provide that nice sturdy step whenever I need it The answer's gonna be yes. The shank is made of steel and you secure everything with this included plate that goes inside the shank. Now, you climb up that plate with one of these three holes that are spaced one inch apart, and this gives you a little bit of freedom to figure out which is the best distance in your hitch for your purposes.
So the combination of that steel shank for stability paired with the aluminum step for design, as well as functionality, makes for a great overall step that you can rely on. Now, this is the anti-rattle bolt and then you also get a clip that goes with it and you do have to bring your own tools. I use a 7/8-inch wrench and you can find one inside your tool bench. This will secure everything to your hitch receiver. Romik has a bunch of different types of running boards, so it's really nice to see that they also have the hitch steps to match. I really like the design of this step, but again, most people choose between their different running boards and what types of styles they prefer that matches their vehicle. With this being more on the aluminum with the rubberized grooves inside the step, this will be ideal for if you're stepping up and down in order to strap things on your ladder rack or your roof rack. There are some bulkier or sturdier hitch steps too, like the Romik RPD Step, which will have serrated grooves, which is more ideal for muddy or snowy and icy situations. Whichever of those situations you may be in, it's nice to know that there is a running board and hitch step for you, and if you need help finding which one is the best fit for your situation or which one is gonna be the match for your running board, feel free to reach out to us right here at etrailer and we'll help you find the best fit for your adventure.
