Approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs - not approved for fifth wheels, motorhomes, towable campers, or flat-towed vehicles

The RockyMounts MonoRail Solo platform-style rack lets you easily carry 1 or 2 bikes using your 2" or 1-1/4" hitch. The front bike position can be removed, so whether you're riding solo or with a friend, this rack has you covered. Ratcheting arms and adjustable wheel straps secure your bikes without contacting the frame. A front-mounted release lever allows you to tilt the rack down and gain access to your vehicle's rear cargo area, or it can fold the rack up for a simple storage solution. The included hitch lock secures the rack to your vehicle, and an integrated cable lock secures your bikes to the rack.

Wheel-Mount Design for Easy Bike Loading

RockyMount MonoRail Solo Bike Rack Adjustable Arms

The rack allows you to quickly and easily load and carry 2 bikes on the back of your vehicle. The ratcheting arms securely hold your bikes by the front wheels so there's no frame contact. Simply push the button on the hook and slide it firmly into place over the front wheel. The wheel hooks are coated for grip and work with tire diameters up to 29".

Pivoting Rear Wheel Cradles with Ratcheting Wheel Straps

RockyMount MonoRail Solo Adjustable Ratchet Straps

The pivoting rear-wheel cradles allow the rack to accommodate bikes with wheel bases up to 48" long. The cradles include ratcheting, rubber straps to hold your bike's rear wheels securely in place on the tray.

RockyMounts MonoRail Solo 2 Bike Fat Bike Straps

The MonoRail Solo also comes with wheel strap extensions that attach to the standard ratcheting straps to increase the usable length and secure wider tires. This allows the cradles to hold fat bike tires up to 5" wide.

Adjustable Bike Trays

RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Adjustable Bike Trays

The front and back trays adjust 3" side-to-side to ensure you have enough space when loading your bikes. Just remove the bolts where the tray attaches to the bottom of the rack, slide the trays left or right to achieve the desired spacing, and then reinstall the bolts. This will prevent your bikes' handlebars from becoming tangled, and it eliminates the fear of bike-to-bike contact during transport.

Front-Mounted Release Lever for Easy Tilting

RockyMounts 2-Bike MonoRail Tilt Access

The front-mounted release lever allows you to easily tilt the MonoRail Solo. The rack tilts down with or without your bikes loaded for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area

RockyMounts 2-Bike MonoRail Solo Fold Up Design

The lever also lets you fold the rack up for storage when you're not transporting the bikes. This is great for parking in places where space is limited such as a parking garage.

Easy Installation with Threaded Hitch Pin

RockyMounts MonoRail Anti Rattle Hitch Pin

The MonoRail Solo installs quickly and easily with a threaded, anti-rattle hitch pin. Simply slide the shank into your 2" hitch receiver, insert the threaded hitch pin, and tighten it down with the included tool. This will reduce noise and movement while the rack is installed.

RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Hitch Adapter

A removable adapter sleeve is included so the rack can be converted for use with 1-1/4" hitch receivers. The sleeve attaches to the shank with a single screw and can be installed or removed quickly.

Complete Security

RockyMount MonoRail Solo Built-In Cable Lock

The rack comes with a hitch lock and a cable lock to deter theft of both the rack and your bikes. The cable lock wraps around your bikes' frames and secures to the rack with the included lock core.

RockyMount MonoRail Solo Locking Hitch Pin

The hitch lock simply snaps onto the hitch pin and locks in place. The cable and hitch lock are keyed alike, so you'll only need 1 key for both locks.

Very nice bike rack. Easy to assemble and to mount your bike. I have not yet driven on rough roads but around town the rack is very solid with little sway.

The rocky mounts bike works great. It is sturdy holding two bikes and it is easy to mount bikes and remove them. The wheel mount rack secures the bike much better than the frame mount rack I used to have and it is much better for the bike to be mounted this way. My only suggestion would be to make it easier to install/remove the rack from the vehicle hitch receptacle as it can be a challenge to reach the securing bolt. Aside from that, this is a great product that I have recommended to friends.

Had the rack put on, and the fellow that helped me felt it was the nicest rack to work with. I have a extremely heavy Ebike, and this rack makes my job a dream. Load it on, and away I go. The tires fit nicely in the holders, and everything is secure. Highly Recommend.

Very happy with the bike rack. And customer service from etrailer was very good. When I was trying to assemble it, couldn't quite figure out one step They worked with me on the phone and we figured it out I have had the hitch for a year and would buy it again.

Review from a similar MonoRail Solo in Hitch Bike Racks

Feels solid, minimal wobbling. Easy to get bike on and off, and to access the trunk with the bike on. Like that it can be expanded to hold 2 bikes, and the relatively low cost. Used with a Curt hitch from this site on a 2017 Miata.

Comments
After a year of constant use, its still good, but requires occasional lubrication. Also the extension for the second bike has trouble with bolts coming loose, and requires loctite every time its installed. Finally, the wobble with 2 bikes on the 1 14 reciever is enough to make you drive a bit more carefully. If you can fit it, get the 2. For a single bike use I think this is still best bang for buck.

Review from a similar MonoRail Solo in Hitch Bike Racks

I just finished installing this rack on my 2017 Subaru Outback. I've been researching platform racks for about 2 months now, and the most important things to me (other than a reasonable price) were no frame contact, ease of getting the bike on and off the rack, not too heavy for me to take it off the car, and enough clearance in the back for me to close my garage door. This rack is perfect for me. And I like that it's expandable to two bikes if I want to do that down the line. It came very well packaged. I am a single gal and not handy AT ALL, but I was able to do the installation with no problem. I did put my bike on the rack and took a short test ride, it was very stable. Very solid well made product!

Comments
One year later, still loving my Rocky Mounts bike rack. Easy to get on and off when the seasons change, easy to take my bike on and off, doesnt interfere with my tailgate at all. I get lots of questions about it!

Review from a similar MonoRail Solo in Hitch Bike Racks

This was my very first purchase ever of a bike rack and I have to say that not only was etrailer.com the best price I found but also the most helpful with information on the various racks available. I wanted a single bike rack for my new eBike and after looking through numerous possibilities, finally decided on the Rockymounts Monorail Solo as not only did it fit the bill for a single bike but also has the advantage of an add-on rack should I ever decide I need to haul around two bikes rather than just one. My major priorities were a rack that would safely hold the additional weight of an eBike, be easy to mount as I'm older and have a bad back on occasion and not break the bank with cost. After watching the available online video and using the easy-to-follow enclosed instructions and tools, I was able to install the RockyMounts Monorail Solo rack quite effortlessly by myself in less than 30 minutes. Loading and unloading my bike (which weighs about 50 pounds) is quite easy and when not in use, the rack folds up close to the back of my car. Should I need to access the back of my Tucson while the bike is loaded, it's very easy to lean the rack forward and open the hatch. Overall I am very pleased with this product and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a solo rack.

Review from a similar MonoRail Solo in Hitch Bike Racks

I bought this rack to carry a Trek Verve+2 electric bike on back of 2019 Tundra. The rack was easy to assemble, only 6 screws and fitting to hitch. Instructions very clear, overall quality excellent. It doesn’t wobble at all because it is bolted to the hitch. Note that bar that fits across front wheel needs to be past top center of wheel, preferably against fork. So, if you have a front fender, you may have a problem. My Trek has a front fender, but I was able to go under it after adjusting it higher. I am close to forks, but not up against them, and it is very secure. On theft security, the two matching locks for hitch and a separate cable work well.

Review from a similar MonoRail Solo in Hitch Bike Racks

Great rack! I bought this to take my bike across the country. Needed something that could easily allow me to ride when I wanted. It fit perfect on my Subaru Baja. The tilt function really made this rack functional while en route. I drove on some pretty gnarly roads and the rack held up great. It did get a little shaky and noisy when on loose gravel but that was to be expected. I've had the rack for about a year now and still no complaints. When I received the rack the box was damaged and the rubber parts had some dings on them. Customer service was super helpful and made everything right. Definitely recommend these guys over competitors.

Review from a similar MonoRail Solo in Hitch Bike Racks

Installed easily. Solidly made. Reasonable weight. Ample space between rack and hatch when not in use allows the hatch to open and close normally. Handles work properly. Easy to put the bike on and take off. Wheel tray distance from the ground is manageable, even with the higher weight of an e-bike. Tilt-away feature adds convenience. I use this rack for an e-bike with a downtube battery. By grabbing the front wheel and rear tire, the retention system does not interfere with the e-bike battery in any way (though I routinely remove it for travel) while leaving frame untouched. I only needed for one bike - the others easily go on the roof, but I like the option of adding a second carrier if and when needed.

Review from a similar MonoRail Solo in Hitch Bike Racks

Bought this Solo RockyMount rack for my E-bike. Not easy to find a bike rack that holds fat tires and the weight of the E-bike. This bike rack is better than I had hoped for, very well built but light weight and my E-bike goes on it very easy.

Review from a similar MonoRail Solo in Hitch Bike Racks

Easy to assemble in a few steps, included all tools necessary, plus locks and keys. Lightweight but sturdy bike rack. Installed on a 2013 Prius C and the hatchback just clears the rack when not in use (added bonus!). Low profile design but with plenty of ground clearance. No wobble design is a plus too. Overall very impressed with the quality and fitment. And once again very happy with etrailer’s service and quick shipping.

Review from a similar MonoRail Solo in Hitch Bike Racks

I probably should have done a bit more research, but unfortunately I am unable to open my rear doors with mount attached, even in the titled form. Other than that, the bike mount is nice and very well built. It’s quite heavy but not too bad. It’s easy to put your bike on it and easy to remove.

Product came on the day they expected it to arrive. Was very easy to put together and install. Having the videos and information about product on there website you know what to expect and to do before it even arrives. Bicycle rack seems well built and sturdy. Thanks Etrailer. Will be ordering a trailer hitch for my car in a couple weeks.

Review from a similar MonoRail Solo in Hitch Bike Racks

I think this bike rack is awesome. I purchased an eBike which was too heavy to put on the car top rack. (in fact I bent my roof a little putting the bike on top.) The answer was to get a bike rack rated for the weight of my bike and us the hitch on the car. The eBike rides great, the rack is perfect for my needs, and it works as designed. Awesome!

Review from a similar MonoRail Solo in Hitch Bike Racks

This rack epicly FAILED. 1. First trip out the ratcheting hook loosened and the bike fell off the rack and was carried behind my RV so I didn't see it. Pedestrian flagged me down and helped me hoist it back on the rack. Am sick and fearful that the next time the hook FAILS will be on the interstate with much more disastrous results. A welder service staff ratcheted it down, much stronger than me, so am trying to decide next steps. 2. Video has no info on how to use the attached lock. Welder service staff knew what to do, 3. There is no reference on how HIGH the bike has to be lifted to sit in the really wide cradle. This is not meant for most women to lift a 55 lb. ebike above your shoulders to sit on the cradles. One male neighbor even struggled with it. 4. Sorry that it took me months to pick the bike and use the rack or else I'd be returning this bad choice of a product!!!

Comments
What sort of vehicle was the bike rack installed upon? As mentioned above in the product description, this rack is meant for motorhomes and passenger vehicles, but NOT meant to be installed on a towed trailer/camper of any kind. A towed trailer will have a much stiffer suspension and a longer rear overhang which will subject the rack to more bouncing and rattling than it was designed to withstand. This could very well lead to the hook being loosened and the bike falling over on its side. The lifting height of the bicycle will be a function of the hitch height of the vehicle. The rack does need to provide a certain amount of ground clearance at the rear of the vehicle or it will bottom out when pulling out of sloped driveways or driving over speed bumps.

Review from a similar MonoRail Solo in Hitch Bike Racks

I purchased this rack as it was one of the few on the market that would accomadate my 54 lb electric bike and was designed to hold a single bike. The rack was very well made with no vibration while driving my SUV. It took less than 1/2 hour to assemble the rack and hitch it to my vehicle. I plan to use the rack to travel to other locations, with my bike, here in Southern New England. I also plan to use the rack transport my bike to Florida, where my my wife and I spend our winters.

A preliminary review of the bike rack is it’s of nice quality, sturdy and finished well. Will add to this review when it’s installed. Thanks to Roger and the crew at etrailer.com. My original order was delivered to a wrong address by the carrier. I contacted etrailer.com and spoke to Roger. Once I had explained the problem he immediately shipped me a replacement for the lost bike rack!! Thanks again Roger.

The RockyMounts MonoRail Solo 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # RKY10007-05 is the only RockyMount platform rack we have compatible with both of your hitches. It will work just fine with both and will hold the bikes by the wheels so you won't have any frame contact. Rockymounts does not have the adapter sleeve available as a separate part.
