Recommended Bike Rack for a Class II Hitch and Fat Tire E-Bikes

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/21/2025

Question:

We have the ebike rack and our bikes have fat tires so the straps dont work. Weve been using velcro straps but the bikes are coming lose. Do you have fat tire straps?

Anna, if you're referring to the OnRamp then there used to be a set of longer straps Yakima offered for fatter tires, but they've since been discontinued, unfortunately.

Since it sounds like your tires are exceeding the max limit the rack can handle, then I'd suggest looking toward an upgrade like the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # RKY10007-05 which can handle up to 5" wide tires.

This rack will also work with 1 1/4" receivers, has a 60 lb per bike capacity, and a max wheelbase limit of 48".

Hey Anna, did you end up trying the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo rack for your fat-tire e-bikes? It’d be great to hear if that setup kept the bikes more secure on your trips. Your update could make it easier for others with similar racks to find a good fit.
