Question:

Folded flat, without a bike, can you fully lower the tailgate on a 2016 Ford F-150?

I spoke with my contact at RockyMounts and they informed me that in order for the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo 2 Bike Platform Rack part # RKY10007-05 to clear the tailgate while folded down you would need to tilt the bike rack away from the vehicle but it would not do so while folded flat and not tilted. If you like you could tilt the rack with one bike attached on the outside cradle. The other option I have for you is the RockyMounts BackStage 2 Bike Platform Rack part # RKY10002 which has a swing away feature therefore allows for access to the tailgate while folded down with both bikes attached and you would not have to tilt the carrier.
