Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

This hitch-mounted bike rack lets you securely transport up to 4 bikes on the back of your vehicle. Its tapered dual arms provide excellent support for adult and child-size bikes. The anti-sway cradles securely hold your bikes during transport. Plus, the rack tilts away from your vehicle for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Tapered, Dual Folding Arms

Curt premium 4-bike carrier with tapered, dual arms.

The tapered dual arms on this rack are ideal for securely carrying bikes for the whole family. The arms are 14" apart near the mast for carrying mom's and dad's bikes. The spacing between the arms then narrows to 8" at the end of the rack, making it easier to carry the kids' bikes. Because children's bikes have small frames, they often require the use of a bike frame adapter bar to span the width of dual-arm bike racks. Because the arms on this rack narrow at the end, a child-size bike will fit without the need for an adapter.

Curt premium 4-bike carrier arms fold down when not in use.

When you're not carrying bikes, simply remove the tethered bail pin to fold the arms down. This folding design allows you to leave the carrier mounted on your vehicle when it's not in use.

Anti-Sway Cradles

Curt premium 4-bike carrier anti-sway cradles.

Anti-sway cradles with rubber straps help to hold your bikes securely on the rack. The straps secure each bike frame to the cradles in 3 spots - 2 on the top tube and 1 on the downtube - to help prevent bike-to-bike and bike-to-car contact. And, the cradles rotate to grab your bike frames at optimal angles. Grooves in the cradles keep your brake lines from getting twisted or pinched.

Tilting Mast for Easy Access to Cargo Area

Curt premium 4-bike carrier tilts down for easy access to your cargo area.

Getting into your rear cargo area is easy. Remove the tethered bail pin at the base of the rack. Then lift the spring-loaded, T-shaped handle on the back of the mast to release the rack from its upright position.

Built-in bar at the base of the Curt premium 4-bike carrier.

A horizontal bar at the base keeps the mast from pivoting too far forward and holds it in place while you access your cargo area. When you raise the mast back up, the T-shaped handle will snap back into place. Then simply reinsert the pin and clip to secure the mast in its upright position.

Tie-down rung on the mast of the Curt premium 4-bike carrier.

A built-in rung on the back of the upright mast provides an anchor point for a stabilizing strap or cable lock (each sold separately) to keep your bikes' handlebars and wheels from moving during transport. Simply thread the strap through the rung and through your bikes' wheels to immobilize them. You can also use a cable lock in conjunction with the stablizing strap to secure your bikes to the rack.

Anti-Wobble Hitch Pin

Threaded hitch pin and shank prevent rattle and wobble of the Curt premium bike rack

The included threaded hitch pin helps to keep the rack from moving and rattling around inside of your vehicle's hitch by pulling the shank tight to the side of the receiver.

Video Transcript for Curt Premium 4 Bike Rack Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt Premium Tilting 4 Bike Rack for 2 inch hitches, part number C18064. This Curt Hitch Mounted Bike Rack is going to allow us to transport 4 bikes on the back of our vehicle safely and securely while we are on our Adventure and with the nice tilt out feature, we can gain access to our rear hatch. We'll come down here, we'll unscrew our thumb screw, remove our pin and clip, pull up on our T handle and then we've got it, to remove any cargo, gear or groceries, anything we might have with us on our trip. To put it back into place is pretty simple, just lift up on our center mast, make sure our teeth in goes back in the hole, replace our pin and clip and we'll come down to our thumb screw and tighten up that center mast. The bike rack is made out of a sturdy steel construction with a nice black powdered coat finish, it is going to resist rust and corrosion. It has a weight capacity of 180 pounds which will be around 45 pounds per bike. The dual arms pulled up from storage and are going to provide excellent support for our 4 bikes.

The taper design is going to accommodate children's bike a lot easier and are going to cut down underneath for our bike bar and at the rear of our dual arms, we've got 2 reflectors which will make it more visible at night. The universal frame cradles have a triangular design, it is going to help accommodate a variety of bike sizes and frame styles. They secure our bike at 3 different points and its grooves built in for our cables to run through and help protect our bikes finish. The frame cradles are also going to help prevent bike to bike contact as well as bike to vehicle contact. The built in round on the back of our center mast here provides a good anchor point for our strap or a cable lock around through. Curt makes a strap with part number 18050.

They also have a cable lock with part number C23666. Now for our taper dual arms, here at the wide end it measures roughly 14 inches from outside to outside and then at the narrow end it measures roughly 8 inches from outside to outside. Now that we've gone over some of the details and features, I'll go ahead and show you how to install it. You will need to make sure that you have a 2 inch by 2 inch receiver. We'll go ahead and take the shank and feed them to the receiver tube until our pin holes line up. All right that looks pretty good, then we'll take our included anti rattle bolt and thread that through.

Once we get this hand tightened, we'll take our socket wrench and tighten out the rest of the way down. Now the nice thing about this anti rattle bolt it is going to help reduce the play, and the rattle within our hitch and our bike rack as you can see there. Let's put our clip in place and then we've got it. Now we'll come up to our dual arms and raise this up. Remove the pin and clip here, just pop it loose and pull it out, raise them up, align the new pin holes, replace the clip and we've got that. Now we can prepare for our bike, we'll undo our straps.

We'll grab our bike, come up over the arms, and work our way to the back. We want to make sure the center tube of our bike is pushed up nicely against the cradle here and then we'll start by bringing our anti sway strap around and putting that in place and that's going to help cut down the sway in our bike while we're driving down the road. Let's finish up on our last few straps. We'll come over the top and pull it nice and tight and then we've got it. Now with my second bike loaded up as you could see I've used the Curt Bike Adapter Bar. This can be used with women's and children's bikes or bikes with alternative bike frames and that's going to be part number C18016. Now let's go ahead and load up 2 more bikes and take the bike rack out and see it performs on our test course. First let's go into our slalom, this is going to show side to side action such as going around corners or evasive maneuver. Then onto our alternating speed bumps, this is going to simulate going over a pot hole or uneven pavement. Then finally onto our solid speed bumps, this is going to show an up and down action such as coming in and out of the driveway or out of a parking garage. That's going to complete our look at the Curt Premium Tilting 4 Bike Rack for 2 inch hitches part number C18064. .

I replaced an old Hollywood bike rack with this new Curtis rack. It was easy to assemble and install. I would recommend this product. 639966

- C18064

We use this bike rack 2 or 3 days per week. It easy to load and secure bikes. Would recommend this to all my friends and family. Thank you 584172

- C18064

Haven't had a chance to use this with our Hybrid trailer or our Volvo XC-90 yet, but the product was very well packaged and looks like it will be the perfect method for transporting our family bikes. $100s less than other very similar options on the market. 569174

Following-up been using this great rack for 4 family bikes 2 adult 2 children and our favorite features are the tilt for tailgate access and fold-down when leaving the rack installed during parking.

- C18064

When carrier arrived the box it was shipped was damaged. The box seemed to be very light weight for as heavy as the carrier was. Did not appear to be damaged. Much heavier then expected. Seems like it is well made. Have not had a chance to try it out yet. Should be shipped in better packaging to avoid damage. 636245

- C18064

Pros: - Super solid construction, heavier than I expected. - Fold up / Tilt-away features are fast and easy - installation was incredibly easy - packaging was solid Cons - Not a fan of the rubber straps. They're not difficult to install...but don't always create an exact snug fit depending on your bike frame. You also must pay extra attention to ensure the strap sits fully within the nubs - I had one pop off during travel as it may not have buttoned down perfectly. - There is A LOT of 'tolerance' in the hitch insert tube - this creates a lot of sway when turning corners. Not a reassuring feeling to see the entire rack shaking left and right! 542654

- C18064

Love the product! Thanks guys! 665139

I will adjust my review after our family vacation I'd necessary. For now the Curt bike rack seems sturdy, is easy to mount and stow bikes. Assembly was quick and simple. Fitting 4 bikes was a simple challenge but easily accomplished. 688815

etrailer was on the money with a CURT hitch for my 2015 Subaru Forester... Along with a CURT 4 bike hitch carrier, adapter bars and straps, my family is ready for a summer road trip... with bikes for all ! 208935

- C18064

Great quality, easy to assemble, good looking. Great service. 566606

- C18064

Product it great, box arrived in damage condition but the product inside was not noticeable damaged. 590370

- C18064

The carrier is easy to attach / use / store, durable construction. The only drawback - you have to purchase a hitch lock and bike lock separately. 270220

- C18064

This Curt bike carrier is ideal for my front hitch that I recently installed on my 2005 GMC. I had to remove my front tag holder for clearance but it works perfectley. It can be easily removed and installed on the back hitch when I'm not towing my camper. This is a well built and solid bike carrier. It was delivered very timely and well packaged. 292567

Only used it once...its heavy and well made. I used it on the front hitch, it sits high and obstructs my driving view. But it worked ok.
PAUL T - 09/09/2017

- C18064

Received it today. Went together easy. Looks nice and sturdy. Great value. 281921

- C18064

I ordered etrailer hitch and Curt bike rack for our 2015 Honda Odyssey. Happy to write that the install went as smooth as shown in the self install videos. Bike rack is sturdy enough to do pullups .... I waited long and hauled bikes inside the van for few years and this purchase was best for long distance recreational outing. If you know how to use a screw driver, you can do the install... You could also get the feel like a mechanic crawling under the van.. 591081

- C18064

So far, I took the hitch rack out of the box and put it together. It seems very well constructed, durable, and well designed. And the price is right! I will update this review after a few weeks of use. Customer service is excellent! After I purchased this rack and after it shipped (which seeemed right away!) 552545

It’s great. No complaints.

- C18064

Installation on my 2012 Odyssey. I thought these pics may be helpful. 539738

- C18064

Works as intended. Great feature with the narrow forks on the front to be able to get kids bikes on. Only reason I gave it 4 star is that I wish there were a little less slop in the 2 pivot points so the bikes can't bounce as much during travel. I might try to put a bolt and some extra plastic washers through instead of the pins that come with it. 622057

- C18064

It's inexpensive for a 4 bike rack. However the support blocks the bikes rest on a bulky and awkward. You will struggle to 'slide' smaller size frames and kids bikes onto the arms. The more expensive racks have much more convenient tilt feature but for the price this is a decent rack. 256087

Rock Solid after a year!
Chris K - 06/02/2017

- C18064

The rack is well built and can easily hold 4 bikes. I did find it difficult mounting my bike onto the cradles as the tube frame is too narrow and would not easily slide over the tabs. The rubber holding straps do not wear well. Out of 10 straps included at least half of them broke in half. 706621

- C18064

VERY substantial product, easy to do the minor assembly required, instructions were clear. I definitely recommend this product. 442292

- C18064

My only complaints are that it is a bit heavy and the braces move such that at the end of a longer drive, the bikes are blown to the back if there's just one or two. Also the spacing is such that my mountain bike only fits on the end spaces. Otherwise, it's a fine way to get up to 4 bikes around. I think I've only ever had up to three at once. 562907

- C18064

Very pleased. This is a well built bike rack. 201213

bike rack still works great with no issues
Gary S - 06/18/2016

- C18064

Easy to use and to load 4 bikes. Even our son's bike that has a shock absorber in the center of the bike frame. 254398

- C18064

Well built bike rack at a great price. Had no issues with assembly. All essential hardware was in package and is fully functional. etrailer is a top notch company with great products, service, and support. Looking forward to doing future business with etrailer. Thank you. 613945

- C18064

Solid unit. The fact that it is only for 2" socket has it stronger than others. 590665

The Curt Premium 4 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches - Tilting # C18064 is not rated for use on the back of a 5th wheel trailer. All bike racks that are RV rated can be used on the back of a passenger vehicle, but not all passenger vehicle bike racks can be used on an RV because of the additional movement and torque. The compatibility of the Curt Premium 4 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches part # C18064 with your 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler will largely be dependent on two factors, what trailer hitch you have and what size spare tire you have. The Curt Premium 4 Bike Rack part # C18064 measures 10" from the center of hitch pin hole to closest edge of carrier. You can also see this at roughly the 2:10 mark of the linked video review I added for you to check out. The narrow width section of the arms on the Curt bike rack # C18064 are spaced 8 inches apart (outside to outside) so while you could load your bikes there a couple of problems arise. First, when using a hitch mount bike rack you will want to load the bikes starting with the cradles closest to the vehicle in accordance with the instructions. Second, if you carried the bikes at the ends then they would not be level and one of the wheels would be down low and the other up high. You want...

  • Should Curt Bike Rack C18064 have Movement when Installed in a Trailer Hitch
It is normal. The size difference between the 2 inch shank on an accessory and the 2 inch receiver on a hitch is done so that the accessory can be easily installed and removed without binding up. Curt bike rack # C18064 has a threaded hitch bolt that, when installed and snug, will take up some of that play.
