Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

This hitch-mounted bike rack lets you securely transport up to 4 bikes on the back of your vehicle. Its tapered dual arms provide excellent support for adult and child-size bikes. The anti-sway cradles securely hold your bikes during transport. Plus, the rack tilts away from your vehicle for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Tapered, Dual Folding Arms

Curt premium 4-bike carrier with tapered, dual arms.

The tapered dual arms on this rack are ideal for securely carrying bikes for the whole family. The arms are 14" apart near the mast for carrying mom's and dad's bikes. The spacing between the arms then narrows to 8" at the end of the rack, making it easier to carry the kids' bikes. Because children's bikes have small frames, they often require the use of a bike frame adapter bar to span the width of dual-arm bike racks. Because the arms on this rack narrow at the end, a child-size bike will fit without the need for an adapter.

Curt premium 4-bike carrier arms fold down when not in use.

When you're not carrying bikes, simply remove the tethered bail pin to fold the arms down. This folding design allows you to leave the carrier mounted on your vehicle when it's not in use.

Anti-Sway Cradles

Curt premium 4-bike carrier anti-sway cradles.

Anti-sway cradles with rubber straps help to hold your bikes securely on the rack. The straps secure each bike frame to the cradles in 3 spots - 2 on the top tube and 1 on the downtube - to help prevent bike-to-bike and bike-to-car contact. And, the cradles rotate to grab your bike frames at optimal angles. Grooves in the cradles keep your brake lines from getting twisted or pinched.

Tilting Mast for Easy Access to Cargo Area

Curt premium 4-bike carrier tilts down for easy access to your cargo area.

Getting into your rear cargo area is easy. Remove the tethered bail pin at the base of the rack. Then lift the spring-loaded, T-shaped handle on the back of the mast to release the rack from its upright position.

Built-in bar at the base of the Curt premium 4-bike carrier.

A horizontal bar at the base keeps the mast from pivoting too far forward and holds it in place while you access your cargo area. When you raise the mast back up, the T-shaped handle will snap back into place. Then simply reinsert the pin and clip to secure the mast in its upright position.

Tie-down rung on the mast of the Curt premium 4-bike carrier.

A built-in rung on the back of the upright mast provides an anchor point for a stabilizing strap or cable lock (each sold separately) to keep your bikes' handlebars and wheels from moving during transport. Simply thread the strap through the rung and through your bikes' wheels to immobilize them. You can also use a cable lock in conjunction with the stablizing strap to secure your bikes to the rack.

Anti-Wobble Hitch Pin

Threaded hitch pin and shank prevent rattle and wobble of the Curt premium bike rack

The included threaded hitch pin helps to keep the rack from moving and rattling around inside of your vehicle's hitch by pulling the shank tight to the side of the receiver.

The bike rack is great. It was easy to put together, and it is very silent when driving around, with or without bikes on it. The fold-away feature is great for getting into the back of my car without taking the hitch off. Despite the moving parts it doesn’t rattle or shake. The rubber straps are nice to use, much easier than plastic straps or metal clamps. See the photo below of it installed on my 2016 Subaru Outback; license plate edited out. Highly recommended.

After less than one year, and only 5 or 6 uses, the threaded stabilizer--the one just below the spring-loaded, T-shaped handle used for tilting the mast--stripped out the hole it passes through in the body of the rack. Now my rack wobbles like crazy. I'm still within the warranty period, but in order to get it fixed, I have to return the entire bike rack and cover the return shipping . I'll just keep the broken rack and find a way to deal with the issue. Hopefully you have a better experience than me.

This Curt bike carrier is ideal for my front hitch that I recently installed on my 2005 GMC. I had to remove my front tag holder for clearance but it works perfectley. It can be easily removed and installed on the back hitch when I'm not towing my camper. This is a well built and solid bike carrier. It was delivered very timely and well packaged.

Comments
Only used it once...its heavy and well made. I used it on the front hitch, it sits high and obstructs my driving view. But it worked ok.

It tool just a few minutes to set it up by myself. It fits snug into a 2" hitch, and holds bikes with sufficient spacing. The spacing is adjustable by hand. The rack can tilt away easily if you need to load something into the trunk/boot. Overall, this is a very sturdy product.

Quick and easy to install. Most of my time was trying to get three bikes on. I wasn’t able to attach my daughters 20” mountain bike. But very solid and well made product.

Very sturdy and works great. It is pretty tight fit with four bikes but they will fit after some work.

Another Curt high quality product. Very well designed and easy to use. High quality finish. Assembly was very easy. Lots of great features like tilting of the rack so that you can open your back hatch of your car. The anti wable and sway features for your bikes . The ability to lock your bikes to the rack with a cable or strap (sold separately) . The ability to fold the rack down when not transporting bikes. Over all extremely satisfied with this purchase.

I will adjust my review after our family vacation I'd necessary. For now the Curt bike rack seems sturdy, is easy to mount and stow bikes. Assembly was quick and simple. Fitting 4 bikes was a simple challenge but easily accomplished.

- C18064
by:

Very solid construction. Great price compared to other brands. It would be a 5 star rating except for the cradles that come with this rack. They are large, bulky, and hard plastic that do not work well with some bike frames. Plus they are always in the way just trying to get the first bike on in the back. Its the only negative on this rack, but to me its a pretty big one. For the price and small amount of use this item gets for me I would still recommend it. If I used this rack several times a month I would probably look for something else.

- C18064
by:

Much less expensive than similarly designed Thule/Yakima racks with no downside I can see after using several times. Only reason to spend more is if you need the one with platforms the wheels rest on. For the hanging type racks, this one works great and much less $.

- C18064
by:

As some others have noted, upon receipt the package containing the rack had torn open due to rough handling by the carrier and the wrack was heavier than I thought. Lastly, assembly constructions could be improved. On the other hand, the rack appears to be durable and well constructed. I suspect my bikes will suffer much less jostling and damage to their finishes than from the cheap rack that I bought from Harbor Freight. Since I'm considering purchasing a couple of bikes, it made sense to buy a superior rack to better protect them. I may end up cutting off the ends of the rack that have places for holding two kids bikes since they stick out behind my pick-up than I care for. Still, I would recommend these racks to other bicyclists.

- C18064
by:

Pros: Excellent bike rack, very solid, very strong. Easy to install, very straightforward. Your bikes aren't going anywhere. Great price point. Cons: Very heavy. We use it on the back of our minivan, so we often need to get into the back hatch. The rack has a tilting feature to allow you to open the rear which is great theoretically but between the weight of the rack plus if you have any bikes at the time you're trying to tilt it back, it's not very usable. If you're looking to leave the rack on the car/suv/van for a while it's a perfect bike rack. If you need to take it off and on fairly frequently (like I do) I suggest looking for something lighter weight. If I had to do it again that's what I would do.

I held off reviewing the rack for a few months so I could give a fair reflection on how it is to live with. After many trips with different numbers of bikes fitted here are my honest thoughts. It's a good value well made rack, but I cannot recommend it for frequent use. If you want to load the family bikes for a road trip infrequently then it'll probably be ideal. Positive: The wide/narrow arm configuration is really useful if you are carrying bikes for the family. My boys bikes fit nicely onto the outer narrow arms without the need for additional mounting bars. The rack is very well made and has very little wobble or rattling. I'm pretty sure that it'll still be going strong in many years time. It's light enough to easily install and remove. A nice design feature on this model (compared to my friends racks) is that with the arms lowered it looks very tidy on the back of the car so I'm happy to leave it on between rides. Negative: The plastic triangular mounts are a real pain. If you have an aluminum road bike with down tube cable routing you may not have an issue, but when mounting our bikes I find the raised clips for the rubber straps catch the cables repeatedly. The large plastic triangles are awkward to weave between bottle mounts and frames. The hard plastic finish also rubs the paintwork. The lowering mechanism is overly complicated and requires three separate actions to release. While the belt and braces approach is reassuring, it's annoying that the pin and clip are not tethered (as they are on the arms) so you run the risk of losing them when loading the trunk at your local trail head. The lowering mechanism is livable, but the mounting points are a significant issue with this rack. In fact, they are such a pain to live with and I cannot recommend buying this rack solely because of them.

Easy to assemble, fits securely and works well!

- C18064
by:

Installed in 2020 Odyssey.

- C18064
by:

Sold build, but not designed for mountain bikes. Can’t fit 4, unless you take out front wheels or have handle bars through spokes. Bars need to be longer by at 6 inches. Lastly, the mounts really suck. Very hard to move and get in the in the way when trying to put bikes on. They are too bulky. Look at Yakima, there mounts are adjustable and can fold. Everything else is fine.

- C18064
by:

Easy to use and to load 4 bikes. Even our son's bike that has a shock absorber in the center of the bike frame.

- C18064
by:

This thing is robust and very well built. The triangular bushings can be tricky with full suspension, mountain bikes and children’s bikes (read: all 4 of my bikes). As such, it can be difficult to get those bikes on and off the rack, but once they are on you should not have any issues. The locking pin is very difficult to insert/remove under load.

- C18064
by:

Best customer service around, hands down. Lori provided the personal attention to help me find the right hitch and (4) bike rack for my Jeep Wrangler in a pinch. So helpful and such a huge difference when making this type of purchase.

- C18064
by:

Holds 2 adult bikes well, I really like it. Kid's bike (16" wheels) does not fit, but luckily the kids bike fits a back seat of my car. Also, it makes opening SUV rear gate more difficult.

- C18064
by:

It's inexpensive for a 4 bike rack. However the support blocks the bikes rest on a bulky and awkward. You will struggle to 'slide' smaller size frames and kids bikes onto the arms. The more expensive racks have much more convenient tilt feature but for the price this is a decent rack.

Haven't had a chance to use this with our Hybrid trailer or our Volvo XC-90 yet, but the product was very well packaged and looks like it will be the perfect method for transporting our family bikes. $100s less than other very similar options on the market.

Following-up been using this great rack for 4 family bikes 2 adult 2 children and our favorite features are the tilt for tailgate access and fold-down when leaving the rack installed during parking.

by:

This rack has been great. It’s nice that it tilts out of the way of the hatch but it would be even better if it could tilt with the bikes on it. (Instructions say not to do this).

- C18064
by:

Easy to install, nice and sturdy. My only complaint is that the blocks that the bikes sit on are bulky and hard to move. Depending on the frame of the bike it can be a challenge to get it on the rack and sitting on the blocks.

- C18064
by:

Love this 4 bike rack. When you get used to it, it makes much more sense keeping. I have kids bike drive around with 2 adults bike, no issue.

Very happy with this bike rack. Solid design that will last a long time. Easy to install and load bikes. Very sturdy and secure in all driving conditions. Good value. Would absolutely buy again.

I can confirm for you that the distance between the arms of the Curt Premium 4-Bike Rack # C18064 is 14 inches at the wide end and 8 inches at the narrow end. You can also see this at roughly the 2:10 mark of the linked video review I added for you to check out. Yes the Curt Premium 4 Bike Rack # C18064 can carry most kids and women's bikes without an adapter bar. The smaller and unique frames those bikes usually have creates issues on most bike racks when trying to keep the bikes level. Other times it is too challenging to get the bike rack arms through the frame or the arms are too spread out for the small frame. I actually have a REALLY good option for your bikes, but first I'll explain why the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR was not ideal for other users. The Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR is a very popular bike rack that has been enjoyed by A LOT of people even with 2-inch hitches. What might be causing extra sway is that an anti-rattle bolt takes away the side-to-side motion, but not as much of the up-and-down motion.
