Features to know about

Why Use a Soft Start for Your RV?

A soft start device reduces the initial inrush current when an AC compressor kicks on. Instead of that harsh power spike that can trip breakers or overload generators, the soft start gradually ramps up the compressor's motor, making it easier to start an AC unit on limited power sources (like small generators, shore power, or inverters).

Power Up and in Seconds

Not only will this device reduce your startup power demand by up to 70 percent, it's going to make your AC startup quieter, and reduce wear on the compressor. Plus, you can skip the complicated install and fumbling with wires. Just plug ActiveStart between your RV and the power source, and you're ready to run your air conditioner in less than a minute. It's as simple as brewing coffee. And with the included dogbone and ground-neutral plug, you're able to power up from a 50-amp hookup, a generator, or a household outlet.

Dual AC Operation with Redundancy

Designed for 50-amp RVs, ActiveStart can run multiple air conditioners at the same time. "Redundancy" means there are two independent circuits inside the device. Each one handles one leg of your 50-amp RV power cord. If one circuit ever fails or shuts down, the other keeps working so you don't lose all your power or air conditioning and can stay comfortable. This feature is going to be great for those of you who camp in hot weather or are full-timers!

Whole-RV Surge Protection

Built-in surge protection guards your entire RV against voltage spikes of up to 5,250 joules, shielding all connected appliances and electronics from harm while you camp or travel. To get the full benefits of redundancy and surge protection, be sure you're plugged into a 50-amp hookup.

Real-Time Power Monitoring From Your Phone

The mobile app makes it easy to check real-time voltage and status for your power system. View and adjust settings right from your phone for added control and peace of mind.

And you're going to get the added safety of surge protection and EMS built into this one unit. So you're gonna be able to start ACs without a bulky generator and soften startup noises from appliances and pumps.

That's gonna make your RV evenings more peaceful and efficient, and you're gonna be able to run your entire rigs 50 amp system without needing a bigger generator, making every watt count. This does feature dual soft start circuits, so two independent circuits are gonna cover both legs of a 50 amp power cord. And then this is going to let you protect your sensitive electronics from power spikes with 5,250 joules of built-in surge defense. And the surge protection module can be replaced if it wears out. And we do have those modules [email protected] if you ever need to replace them.

So as you saw, you're just gonna plug this into your power pedestal for a quick and easy setup. This also includes a 15 to 50 amp dog bone that's going to let you plug into any residential outlet. Bonding plug will be needed for use on some generators with hassle-free power. So it includes everything that you see here. And you do have status indicator lights here.

And then you'll have a label attached here to help you decode what the lights mean that are illuminated in case there's an issue. If you notice here at the outlet, we do have a spring loaded (spring snapping) cover here that's going to protect that outlet. Instructions are also going to be included. And a quick start guide to make sure that you're running this the way that it has been intended and designed. And let me go ahead and get my tape measure here, give you some overall measurements that might prove helpful for you.

So just a basic length from end to end. We're sitting pretty close to 19 inches long. And then looking at the unit itself at the widest point, we're sitting pretty close to about almost six inches wide. And then just the height of the unit, I'm gonna say right at about almost a foot. And then in regards to the depth or the thickness, I'm gonna say right at about a little under three and a half, just kind of give you an idea of the size. Now, if you decide this is going to be the one that's gonna work best for you based on the specs that we went over with briefly and you decide to pick this up, we would love to hear how it's working out for you. So give us a call, send us an email, send us some photos of your setup, just so we can see what this looks like in operation for you, just so we know how it's working out for you. Well, let's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

  • Can SoftStart be Used with Surge Protector
Hey Allen, yes you can definitely use the SoftStart part # AS34FR with a surge protector. You would want to plug the surge protector in the power source first and then plug the Softstart into the surge protector. This order ensures that the surge protector handles any initial power spikes before the soft start manages the inrush current from the appliance, offering protection against both mechanical start-up stress and electrical surges.
