Its great, but the right side bracket had interference with car frame at the installation location, which I had to modify the hole!!

Easy install, but I also fully removed the muffler considering it was just two nuts to prevent unnecessary stretching of the other hangers. The instructions point out removing the heat shield which at first glance I did not realize was the horizontal metal piece which is installed on the aft end of the muffler. Only problem was that when installing the horizontal M10 bolts, one of the welded nuts inside the frame rail broke off when torquing. Would recommend running a tap to clear the threads prior to lifting the hitch as well due to the undercoating sprayed on the car and dirt buildup. Have not towed or attached anything to it yet.

Haven't put the hitch on yet not sure if it fits but my other purchases have fit and easy to install.

Product did not include the correct bolts. The Kia Niro requires four M10x1.25 30mm bolts, but the hitch came with four M10x1.5 30mm bolts. If you try to install the included bolts, it will damage the nuts welded into the car frame. The instructions that came with the hitch list both bolt sizes in different sections, which match the instructions posted on this site. I can not recommend this product until CURT provides the correct bolts.
The product arrived as scheduled and in decent shape. It sits below the bumper, so you don't have to cut the plastic bumper cover, but you do have to cut a significant amount of the under-body plastic. You also need to permanently remove a protective metal piece from the exhaust, although I'm not sure what its purpose was.

I've been using my C12171 hitch receiver for my bicycle rack for the past year and am very happy with it. Since my 2018 Kia Niro PHEV is not recommended for towing, this is my only use for it. My only other comment is this is a Class II receiver, which is overkill capacity for this application. I would have been even happier if there had been a Class I receiver available to fit on my vehicle, since it would have been less dead weight impacting my fuel economy.

Excellent.
Wasn't a perfect fit for my car, but I was able to make some adaptations that got it to work. "45 minute" project took me 3 hours and a trip to the hardware store.
I followed the video and proceeded with install on the 17 Nero. I was worried it would be too much for me. Not an issue… all work I did was on my back without jacking up the car. Total job literally took me an hour sand a half. Instructions were ample and precise. It was a great buy
Excellent instructions and etrailer videos. A friend and I installed this on a 2021 Kia Niro Touring Hybrid in about 45 minutes, and the "pro" guideline was 40 minutes. I had to call etrailer before ordering to confirm fit, as the local hitch shop had told me it would not fit while etrailer's catalog said it would. Customer service on the question was excellent and they assured me it would fit. The proof is in the photos accompanying this review. I couldn't be happier with the outcome.
I purchased this hitch for the primary use of attaching a bicycle rack. I am completely satisfied with this purchase. The construction of the hitch is very high quality and it came with all the necessary hardware, even included is the fishwire for the large bolts. The instructions were very clear and the fit was perfect. I installed the hitch in less than hour by myself. The only thing I did different was to cut a 5 inch notch out of the factory metal exhaust guard so I could reinstall it. After doing this the exhaust guard does not contact the hitch and there is no interference. You can not reinstall the exhaust guard without doing this. The instructions say to leave it off but I figure there is a purpose to the exhaust guard so I chose to reinstall. Fast shipping from etrailer was great too! Highly recommended!
WARNING - for some reason this does not fit the 2020 Kia Niro EV - I had to drill holes in the hitch to match the frame, but once it's on it's fine

Hey Paul. I looked into this and this hitch would not be a fit for the EV model. This hitch is only confirmed to fit a Kira Niro for the 2020 year. Currently I do not see that there is an option for a custom hitch for the EV model for the 2020 year.
