Features to know about

Get More from Every Drive: Class II Strength with 3,500 lbs GTW and 350 lbs TW

This Curt trailer hitch receiver gives you reliable towing strength for small trailers, boats, or campers. Rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs and a tongue weight of 350 lbs, it’s built for light-duty hauling without compromising safety. The sturdy, square-tube design keeps your load stable while you’re on the road, whether you’re pulling a trailer or carrying a bike rack or cargo carrier.

Simplify Your Weekend Projects: Bolt-On Installation with No Welding Required

Installing this hitch doesn’t require any welding—just bolt it in place using the included hardware kit. The custom-fit design lines up precisely with the factory mounting points for a secure fit. It’s ideal for DIYers who want to get the job done in the driveway with standard tools instead of paying for shop labor or fabricating anything custom.

Keep It Looking Sharp: Gloss Black Powder Coat Over Protective Base

Built to handle years of use, the fully welded steel hitch is finished with a gloss black powder coat over a protective base layer. That double coating helps keep rust at bay and maintains a clean look even after exposure to road grime and weather. The concealed cross tube keeps the receiver opening neat and low-profile, so it blends in under the bumper instead of sticking out like an afterthought.

Ready When You Are: Works with Drawbars, Bike Racks, and Cargo Carriers

With its 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver opening, this hitch is ready for all kinds of gear—bike racks, small trailers, and cargo platforms designed for Class II setups. The drawbar, pin, and clip are sold separately so you can choose what fits your setup best. It’s a dependable way to expand what your vehicle can do without adding bulk or complexity.

I have not put a load on it yet, but it installed nicely and easily. The video says it is best to have 2 people, but I did it solo without much issue at all. The nice part about the 2017 Volvo V60 I have is that it is actually easier to install with the car on the ground than having a lift. Videos were not exactly my car, but were very helpful.

by:

One year review. Easy to install. Works perfectly for my bike rack.

by:

So far so good. 1 year in and still working perfectly. Bit of a tight squeeze fitting it under the bumped but the install was just fine.

by:

Could not ask for better. I purchased 3 receivers Everything fit perfect.

by:

Great hitch and wiring, would recommend to all

by:

Trailer hitch was delivered quickly to garage requested, with good follow-up and documentation. eTrailer consultant Caleb was thorough and responsive.

by:

I had a auto repair shop install and they said it went well, no issues with fit. I was skeptical as the exact car model (2017 Volvo V60 Cross Country) wasn't listed on Curt website. etrailer said it would fit and it did. Thanks

by:

Solid, works well. Using it to hold Thule bike rack.

by:

The hitch was packaged really well with all the necessary parts and arrived a day early! But it was the installation video that sealed the deal for me; I knew exactly what I was getting myself into. My friend and I referred to it multiple times and it came out great. Plus, I saved a lot of money by doing it myself. Great product!

by:

Sturdy hitch with a solid connection to the car frame. As advertised the installation is difficult as the bumper covering has to be removed.

by:

Once again etrailer is all over it. Lori B (sales rep) was awesome. Quick purchase answered all the questions and shipped out immediately. Ordered and shipped on a Saturday. Arrived on the date promised using normal delivery option that was free. Lori also followed up the with a couple emails.
Install was straight forward. On the v60 wagon you will need the spacers provided. It’s a tight fit getting the bumper cover back on. It will go, you just have to (gently) pull the corners out and fit them back in under the fender liners.

by:

This is my second time purchasing and installing an etrailer hitch and it was just as easy as the first. My Volvo dealer told me that I shouldn't do it myself, since they've seen many DIYers coming to them to replace their installation. I had no problems and it still works great a year later! Plus it was much cheaper doing it myself!

by:

Purchased a receiver hitch for my 2016 Volvo V60. Why etrailer.com? Because I've purchased several other receiver hitches from them before for other vehicles. Like the rest, this one went on without a hitch. So to speak. Don't know why anyone, with minimal mechanical skills, and some basic hand tools, would pay top dollar to have someone else install a hitch.

by:

I purchased this kit for my '12 Volvo,. I installed this hitch myself using the included instructions. This was one of the easiest ones to do that I've done. It's worked flawlessly ever since (30,000+ miles)!! eTrailer has been a really good supplier. I have purchased 4 hitches/kits over the past 10 years from them and been happy every time.

by:

etrailer.com is a very professionally run company. They provide feedback on the status of your purchases and their shipping estimate was spot-on. A great company to buy from.

Hitch has worked out well and the installation instructions and video I found on your web site were great when I installed the hitch. Everything went very well.

The trailer hitch I purchased is working fine and have had no issues.

Everything fit great and installed easy

by:

I had this hitch installed on my 2017 Volvo V60 T5 Premier by the Volvo dealer. They had no problems. If you go to the Curt website, or talk to Curt's customer service reps, they'll tell you this hitch "doesn't fit" this car. Nonsense - it does. I suspect what they really mean is "We haven't qualified this hitch on this model/year car". Fair enough, but I testify that it DOES fit, with no "yeah buts...". I will use this hitch for my Saros 2 bike carrier - no towing.

The ordering process was easy, and delivery was very quick. I am a pleased customer.

GREAT! Ive used my Saros 2 bike rack on this Curt trailer hitch on several occasions, including a long distance trip to Alma, Quebec from Portland, Maine. The hitch was installed by the Volvo dealer with no issues, and it has performed as advertised. Call me a happy camper. -

I purchased a Volvo Wagon recently knowing that Volvo does not offer trailer hitches as an accessory. Etrailer.com provided a user-friendly way to find out which manufacturers offer hitches that are compatible with the automobile, and Ashley E. provided very helpful advice about the most suitable choice, in this case a Curt 1/4 inch. She was a pleasure to deal with over three separate calls, and always got back to me promptly. When the product arrived, I had it installed by a local body shop, and they commented that the hitch, although not simple to install, fit perfectly with the vehicle. Unfortunately, the industry standard bolt holes on the Curt hitch did not match up with an old Allen bike rack I owned (etrailer made no promises about this, as they did not have information about the Allen rack), and it looked as though I was going to have to purchase a new bike rack. It was a weekend, when Ashley was not available, but a different representative at etrailer, Carrieann, was extremely helpful in making personal recommendations about suitable and reasonably priced bike racks to match my needs. Fortunately, a local hitch specialist was able to devise a work-around to make the old Allen rack work with the new hitch, but my experience with etrailer was excellent.

by:

The install was very easy and straight forward. All the hardware is included

by:

Installed this on my 2017 Volvo S60 for use with a 1UP bicycle carrier. Followed video instructions. Although the task was difficult, it was not complicated. The only tool I bought was the torque wrench. Works perfectly.

by:

This is a great hitch...I've used it with a bike rack for three years on a Volvo V60. I just upgraded the Volvo, so I ordered another hitch of the same model. Easy installation - took about an hour including getting tools out and putting them away. It's my third Curt install and second on the same model of Volvo, so I'm getting pretty good at it. The install video on the website was more helpful than the instructions and diagrams.

by:

2017 Volvo V60 T5 AWD
The hitch I ordered
from etrailer shipped in a few days, arrived on schedule and was well packaged with no damage. It appears to be well made, all the parts needed were included and the instructions were clear. Watching the installation video was very helpful. Installation was straightforward and took about an hour as advertised. It is necessary to have a second person helping. The only thing that was a little fussy was getting the rear bumper cover snapped back into place. This is the fourth hitch I have purchased from etrailer and I have been well satisfied with them.

by:

After one year my receiver hitch is still doing the job just as well as it did the day that I installed it. This is the second hitch that I purchased from etrailer.com and if I need another in the future I know who to get it from. They have held up their end of the bargain each time that I have purchased a hitch from them.

Its working perfectly. Just as it did the day it was installed.

Installation was a breeze thanks to excellent instructions. We have only used this hitch for attaching a bike rack, for which it has been perfect.

See what our Experts say about this CURT Trailer Hitch

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2013 Volvo S60
For your 2013 Volvo S60 I actually recommend just going with the Draw-Tite Class III 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75916. This 2 inch hitch essentially has an identical mounting bracket design to the Curt 1-1/4" Hitch # C12066 you referenced, so it's not going to stick out any further. In fact based on installations we have performed with both hitches the Draw-Tite will likely be a bit more recessed behind the bumper than the smaller Curt model. A 2" receiver is going to open up the door...

  • Is There A Hitch Available For A 2012 Volvo S80?
Hi Kyle, With the Volvo S80 being discontinued in 2016, finding a custom fit hitch is proving to be difficult. I saw that you ordered the Draw-Tite # 75916 and I am pretty sure it isn't going to work due to the different sizes of the vehicles it is designed to fit. There is a possibility it will work though, and if it does, please let me know. If it doesn't end up working, you would need something like the Buyers Weld On Receiver # 337RT25806B. This would then need to be taken to a local...

  • Is There a Trailer Hitch Receiver Available For a 2022 Volvo S60?
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12066 was only a fit for the 2nd generation of the Volvo S60 which ended in 2018. Your 2022 does have the same SPA chassis as the 2019 but the previous generation the receiver fit on is on a P3 chassis. As no one makes a custom fit receiver for your Volvo you can contact a local fabrication shop to see if they are able to create a receiver for you. We do have the 2" Receiver # E17 which can act as a base for having a custom fabricated receiver made.

  • Comparing Class II and Class III Curt Hitch for 2018 Volvo V60
Curt offers a Class II hitch part # C12066 and a Class III # 13266 for your 2018 Volvo V60. The big advantage the Class III (2 inch opening) has over the Class II is that more accessories are made for 2 inch hitches so you'll have an easier time fitting racks to the hitch. The advantage a Class II would have is really that the due to the smaller size it might be less visible. The brown Volvo I attached a picture of has the 2 inch hitch and the white has the 1-1/4 inch size mentioned.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch For 2013 Volvo XC70 Wagon
To be honest I recommend installing a Class lll trailer hitch on your XC70 like the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch, part # 75916. This hitch has a 2-inch receiver opening which gives you many more options for accessories than a Class ll hitch like part # C12066. If you are going to install the # C12066, per Curt you are required to use a stabilizing strap like part # 18050 for any non-trailer items. Since you mentioned a ball mount I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900....

  • Differences Between Curt Class II # C12066 and Class III # 13266 for 2015 Volvo V60
The two hitches you mentioned are very similar. The only difference is that the # 13266 is a Class III which uses the 2 inch square receiver opening and the # C12600 is a Class II which uses the 1-1/4 inch square receiver opening. Both hitches have a 3500 lb towing capacity, but the Class III has a tongue weight capacity (maximum weight that can be suspended from hitch without damaging anything) of 350 lbs, versus 300 lbs for the Class II. The Class II hitch will have a ground clearance...

  • 2015 XC70 Volvo Trailer Hitch Recommendation
For your 2015 Volvo XC70 the correct hitch would be the part # 13266. This is a 2 inch hitch confirmed to fit your vehicle that would work well. There is a 1-1/4 inch hitch available for your vehicle but I wouldn't recommend it since you plan to do some towing and the 2 inch hitches have more capacity. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch...
