Would the rear diffuser on this car need to be altered to mount this receiver? If so, what is the extent of the alteration?

Curt trailer hitch # C12066 is listed as a fit for all models of the 2015 Volvo V60 including the R Design models. There is some trimming required on that center fascia section. I have included a picture that shows where the trimming needs to be.

If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class II trailer hitch. Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or car go carrier) per their warranty requirements.

If you plan on doing some towing the correct ball mount to use is # C45521. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. For trailer wiring use # C56287 (mid-year models and newer).
