PRODUCT FIT AND INSTALL WENT WELL AND LOOKS GOOD

Towed 1200lbs. for 1000+ miles in 15 hours without an issue! Highly recommended!

by:

It's a pleasure to deal with a company with such great customer service.

Jeep Wrangler

Arrived well packed. Nice paint job.! Hitch fits perfectly with no drilling (2000 Wrangler). All bolts included. I did have to use Goo Gone to clean off an inventory sticker.

by:
2004 Jeep Rubicon

Cons: Handle nuts broke off before I could torque it. Had to drill a hole into the frame as I could not align it, it was literally 1 mm off.

Pros: Great customer service from Curt, they definitely stand behind their product. This hitch sticks out little more compared to other hitches. Combined with Yakima DoubleDown Ace rack it cleared the stock spare tire on my 2004 Rubicon.

Installed this on a 2002 Jeep Wrangler - fit well. Reused the weld bolts on the bottom and used the middle size bolts and lock washers that came with the hitch on the sides. Took me about an hour and a half, but at least a half hour of that was getting the tow hook and weld bolts out - they had some rust. Used a hydraulic jack to hoist it into place and then bolted it on. The passenger side weld bolt was difficult to tighten because the exhaust pipe is directly beneath it, but thank goodness for an impact driver. Looks nice with a low profile. Going to use it along with a hitch rack to have extra storage when traveling or tailgating. Go Browns!

by:

Easy install and rock solid with a perfect alignment to existing holes.

by:
2006 Jeep TJ

Hitch will not fit my 2006 TJ unlimited as instructed it would. The hitch sides are not wide enough to fit around the frame. Hitch was a total waste of time and money.

by:
2000 Jeep TJ

Great hitch. Easy installation.

by:
2001 Jeep Wrangler

Nice little hitch. The welds and powder coating look good, holes lined up, and American made. This hitch also leaves access room for the gas tank mounting bolts.

by:
2006 Jeep Wrangler

Great looking hitch, but not compatible with the Aries TrailCrusher AA2157001. If you intend to use both, get Curt Hitch 13408.

by:

Good product and instructions were easy to read.

by:
Jeep

Installation was fast and easy. I used a car jack to keep it in place and installed it by myself. The toughest part was removing the existing bolts in the frame. The angle of the bolts on the passenger side are hard to work with if you want to use power tools, so get a ratchet-wrench if you don’t have one. It looks great on my Jeep, can’t wait to use it!

by:
2002 Jeep TJ

Product arrived promptly in great condition. Installation time was 15 minutes but I viewed the install video before I ordered the product. Hitch looks very nice, installs a snap, and I recommend it and etrailer.com highly.

by:
Jeep

Good product at a good price. Removing the 9 year old bolts from the Jeep was by far the hardest part. Curt gives you two sets of bolts to use and you pck the right one depending on the application. But, the two are only very slightly different. They have the same thread/inch and are only very slightly different diameter. Pick the wrong one (I did initially) and you are in for frustrating time. Otherwise, it will work perfectly for me.

2005 Jeep Wrangler

I ordered this hitch on a Sunday morning and it was at my door by Tuesday afternoon. Couldn't be happier with it. Installing was a breeze. Good job etrailer! I would definitely recommend to a friend.

by:
2006 Jeep Wrangler

The provided bolts where to small or two big for the existing nuts mounted in the frame had to use original bolts other than that small issue it fit perfectly and looks great

by:
2003 Jeep TJ

It took about 20 mins to install alone and fits perfect

by:
2004 Jeep Wrangler

Hitch receiver installed

by:

Great fit, easy install. Made a shade-tree mechanic feel like he knew exactly what he was doing.

by:

The trailer hitch works fine. Now. Bottom line the hitch didn't fit. Only two bolt holes would align with the Jeep frame. Front or back, your choice but only two. I attached the front holes, then uninstalled it and drilled the rear holes of the hitch to enlarge them to allow the bolts to align. First and last time I will buy a Curt. I have never had an issue with Draw tite.

by:

I’m very pleased with this purchase. Easy to install and the wiring was spot on. Great service.

by:
2006 Jeep Wrangler

I bought the hitch for my 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
It all works great. The Curt website with video installation instructions is really helpful. Now I can do more with my Jeep! I bought a platform for the hitch so that I now can carry my Kawasaki 250 down for repairs or have fun taking it camping.

by:
Jeep

This is my third purchase from e trailer. The products have always arrived quickly and for my model of Jeep. The parts fit well and the installation times and descriptions are usually pretty accurate. The hitch fit well with no drilling and took about 30 minutes.

by:

Great hitch - thank you etrailer - very good service, great product and easy quick installation - the wire harness is a perfect fit. This is my second order and again I was not disappointed

  • What is the Difference Between the Curt Hitches # 13430 and # 13408 for a 2006 Jeep TJ Wrangler
The biggest difference between Curt Hitch # 13430 and # 13408 is that the # 13430 has a round cross tube whereas the # 13408 has a square cross tube. This difference is primarily an aesthetic difference since both of these hitches have the same towing capacities. Another difference between the two hitches is how it attaches to the frame of your 2006 Jeep TJ. I attached a picture that shows the different mounting methods each hitch has. I also attached a picture of both of these hitches...

  • Can the Fuel Tank Be Removed from 2001 Jeep TJ With Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver 13408 Installed
From what I have found, there are four bolts holding the fuel tank in place at the back of your 2001 Jeep TJ. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13408 covers these bolts once it is installed, so it would have to be uninstalled in order to access them and remove your fuel tank. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13430 instead. This hitch sits slightly further back, leaving those bolts accessible. There should be plenty of clearance to remove the fuel tank, although it may make...

  • Curt Hitch Recommendation for the 2002 Jeep Wrangler
Both the Curt hitch part # 13408 and the part # 13430 would work well on your 2002 Jeep Wrangler. Both have the same capacities and have 2 inch openings. The differences are that the # 13408 uses a different attachment method like you noticed and has a square cross tube whereas the # 13430 uses a round tube. Both are equally strong, some just prefer the look of one over the other. I attached pics of both of these hitches installed to let you decide which you like better. I attached install...

  • Towing a Boat with 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ
After doing a little bit of research I was able to determine the maximum tongue weight of your 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ is 300lbs and your maximum towing capacity is 2000lbs. So given the parameters that you're describing, you should be able to tow a small boat in your TJ. In case you don't already have a hitch you may want to look at the Curt Class III Receiver # 13430 , which is sized to fit your Jeep. To go along with the hitch you need the trailer wiring # 118356 and a ball mount. The...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 1998 Jeep Wrangler with Round Tube Rear Bumper
The correct Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 1998 Jeep Wrangler with round tube rear bumper is part # 13430. I confirmed this with Curt for you. This trailer hitch is a direct bolt-on fit and is has a round tube design which will match perfectly with the round tube rear bumper. I have attached an install video on a model with the round tube rear bumper as well.

  • What is the Width of the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13430 is There a Universal Available?
I went out to the warehouse and got the measurements for you on the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" part # 13430 which has been made for the 1997-2006 Wranglers. To the inside of the upright brackets it measures 42 3/4" To the outside if them it measures 43 3/8". If that hitch doesn't have the measurements you're looking for on your 1951 Chevrolet Advanced Design I recommend using the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 66" Wide part...

  • Class III Hitch Options and Wiring For 2005 Jeep TJ Unlimited
There are 2 Class III hitch options that are a fit for the 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ Unlimited, Curt round tube Class III hitch part # 13430 or the Draw-Tite Round Tube Class III hitch part # 75193. They both fit exactly the same and have the same capacities. I recommend Curt Class III Round Tube Receiver Hitch part # 13430 which is one of the options with the high weight capacity and is assembled in the USA. I have attached a video for your reference. • Can Hopkins Tow Bar Wiring and Curt Trailer Wiring Install at Same Time on 2006 Jeep Wrangler
You can have both the Hopkins tow bar lighting kit part # HM56202 and the Curt kit part # C55363 at the same time on your 2006 Jeep Wrangler. The two kits would basically just plug into each other and as long as everything is seated properly it will work great. You'll also need a trailer hitch with # 13430 and for flat towing a base plate kit part # RM-521424-5 with a tow bar like part # RM-520.

Yes, the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13430 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2006 Jeep TJ Rubicon. • Do you Have An Electric Bike Rack That Can Hold Bikes with Fenders?
Sometimes, the wheel attachment ratcheting straps can damage bikes that have front and/or rear fenders. For this reason, I recommend getting a bike rack that attaches to the bike's frame instead. The Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # TH903202 is great because it will attach at the frame while giving you a 65 pound per bike carrying capacity for electric bikes. It is important to note that if there is any spare tire on your wrangler, the measurement from the center of hitch...

I do have an option for you but the heaviest bike you can use on a spare tire bike rack like the Hollywood Racks SR2 2-Bike Carrier part # HRSR2 is 35 lbs. The reason for this has to do with both the strength of the connection point itself as well as the strength of the arms on a hanging style bike rack. Therefore, in order to carry an electric bike on your 1999 Jeep TJ you will need to use a platform style hitch mounted bike rack as well as a trailer hitch if you do not already have...
