Question:
Will this unit work with a NON- Turbocharged 3.5 L engine? Could not see exactly where you installed the heater, the driveshaft and exhaust pipe was in the way. Is there a pipe plug that has to be removed? Coolant drained? Appreciate any detailed info. prior to ordering. Thank you!

Hello Thomas,
Thanks for your question and for giving us the opportunity to help!
The Kat's Heaters Custom Fit Engine Block Heater - Cartridge Style - 120V - 400 Watts # KH11815 is designed specifically for the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. Since your truck has the 3.5L V6 non-EcoBoost engine, that heater will not fit your application. Your 2015 Ford F150's engine does not have the specific machined cartridge bore in the engine block to accept the cartridge style heater.
The correct option for your engine is the Kat's Heaters Custom Engine Block Heater - Frost Plug Style - 120V - 400 Watts - 3/4" NPT # KH11409. This is a frost plug-style heater rather than a cartridge-style heater like you were originally looking at.
On your 2015 Ford F-150, this heater installs by replacing a frost plug located on the lower front passenger side of the engine block.
For the installation, you'll need to drain the engine coolant before removing the existing frost plug and then refill the cooling system before plugging in the heater. It's important that the heating element is fully submerged in coolant before it's energized, as operating it dry can quickly damage the heater.
I've attached a copy of the installation instructions for reference.
