Hello Doug,

Thanks for writing in.

Yes, you can tow a 7,000 lb horse trailer using the Roadmaster Dual Receiver Hitch Adapter # RM48BQ, as long as your vehicle's hitch and towing capacities are rated to handle that weight.

For towing, you'll want to use the lower receiver opening with your ball mount. The upper receiver is designed for carrying an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier while you're towing. The # RM48BQ is rated for up to 10,000 lbs of trailer weight, so a 7,000 lb horse trailer falls well within its capacity.

One of the nice things about the # RM48BQ is that, unlike many hitch adapters on the market, it does not automatically cut your hitch's capacity in half. Many dual-receiver adapters require a significant reduction in towing capacity, but this Roadmaster adapter is designed to maintain its full 10,000 lb trailer weight rating when used as intended.

What kind of horses are towing around in that trailer, and what kind of shows or races are you off to?
