Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Hitch Adapter 1-5/8" to 2"

Today well be reviewing part number HT58. This is the Brophy hitch adapter, thats going to convert your inch and five-eighths hitch to a two-inch hitch. It has a really nice black powder coated finish thats going to help stand up against rust and corrosion.Keep in mind that this extender or this adapter is for use with bike carriers and cargo carriers. Probably need to stay away from some larger, heavier items, so its not to be used for your regular towing or with snowplows. When using this adapter, your weight capacity of the hitch will be reduced by fifty percent. You also need to use a hitch pin and clip, that is sold separately.

This is available as part number PC3. This part right here is the part thats going to slide into the receiver tube of your hitch, and heres your two-inch conversion, so youll be able to slide in your accessory. Youll secure your accessory by using the pin and clip, and you can also secure this to your hitch by using the pin and clip. Now Id like to go over some basic measurements. The overall length of our adapter is right around eleven inches. From the center of one hole to the center of the other, we have about seven and a quarter inches.

The receiver sleeve measures at six and a half inches, and the part that slides into the hitch on our vehicle is right around four inches. Thats going to complete todays review of part number HT58, the Brophy hitch adapter, thats going to convert your inch and five eighths hitch to a two-inch hitch. .

  • Is There A 1.5" Hitch To 2" Hitch Adapter?
Hi Dan! I have a couple potentially dumb questions. Are you sure you have a 1.5" hitch receiver? Was that measured at the inside or outside of the hitch opening? And if it is truly 1.5" for the inside of the receiver, what is this hitch on? The standard hitch sizes are 1-1/4", 2", 2-1/2", and in some cases 3", so I am definitely curious. Now to answer your question, you could use something like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch - 6-1/2" Long # e43YR reducer,...

  • Can I Carry My Reese Cargo Carrier And A Bike Rack At The Same Time?
Hello Allison. The 1.5" square opening on the end of your Reese cargo basket is not meant to be used for this purpose. This tube is simply an extension of the 2" receiver tube and is basically the "backbone" of the carrier. This tube is not meant to have a bike rack attached to it, so there is no adapter I can offer you as this would be highly unsafe. You will need to remove the cargo basket in order to carry a bike rack.

  • Hitch Adapter Recommendation for a 1-5/8 inch Hitch
The only thing we offer for a 1-5/8 inch hitch is an adapter like part # HT58 that will convert it to a 2 inch hitch. Adapters like this do cut the capacity of the hitch in half. I also attached a link to a page that has all of the 2 inch hitch ball mounts we carry.

  • Hitch Adapter with Size Close to 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch
Since 1-3/4 inch isn't a standard hitch size we don't have an adapter for what you described. Most likely you'd need a 1-5/8 inch adapter like the # HT58 that you referenced or 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch like the # HTAD since these are current trailer sizes.

  • Will the Brophy Hitch Adapter # HT58 Convert a 1-5/8 Inch Hitch to a 2 Inch Opening
The Hitch Adapter # HT58 that you referenced is designed to be inserted into hitches with a 1-5/8 inch opening to convert them to a hitch with a 2 inch opening. So yes, the small end of the adapter is 1-5/8 inches and should work well for you.

  • Is Locking Hitch Pin Included With Brophy Hitch Adapter
The Brophy Hitch Adapter, part # HT58 does not come with a hitch pin or lock included. This adapter is not intended to be used for towing or for snow plows, but can work with hitch mounted bike racks and cargo carriers. When using this adapter, you will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. For a locking hitch pin I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, part # e98882. If you are looking for a non-locking hitch pin I recommend part # PC3. This includes...

  • Availability of Hitch Adapter to Go From 1-5/8 inch to 2 inch Hitch
The only size available for a hitch extender to go from 1-5/8 inch hitch to 2 inch hitch size is the part # HT58 which is 7-1/4 inches long. This 1-5/8 inch size is not very common at all which is why the options are limited.

  • Distance from Pin Hole to Back of Hitch Tube HT58
From the center of the hitch pin of the hitch extender part # HT58 to the back of the hitch opening measures 2-3/4 inches. I added the dimension to the picture you submitted.

  • How Long is the 1-5/8 Inch Portion of Brophy Trailer Hitch Adapter # HT58
I went out to the warehouse and pulled Brophy hitch adapter # HT58 to take some measurements. The overall length of the 1-5/8 inch part is 4-3/8 from the end to the larger part but 4-1/8 inches when measuring to the weld bead. The overall length is approximately 10-3/4 to 10-7/8 inches. From the center of one hitch pin hole to the center of the other it is 7-1/4 inches.

  • Hitch Receiver and Towing Set Up for a 2021 Kia Soul
I can recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C67FR. This class I hitch receiver is custom fit and bolts directly to your Kia's frame with included hardware. It has a maximum gross trailer weight of 2,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 300 lbs. It has a 1-1/4" receiver opening which allows you to use a wider range of accessories than you could with a 1-1/4" opening. It also has a wide range of accessory options like the Swagman Chinook Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches...

  • Is Hitch Adapter Available To Reduce 2 Inch Receiver To 1-5/8 Inch For Bike Carrier
We do not offer a hitch adapter that will reduce the 2 inch hitch on your new vehicle to accommodate the 1-5/8 inch shank on your bike rack. Anytime you use an adapter on your hitch it will reduce the load carrying capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. My recommendation is to find a bike carrier that will mount to your new 2 inch receiver. If you want to send me information about your vehicle and how many bikes you wish to carry I can make some recommendations for you. I have attached...

The distance from the pin hole of the Hitch Adapter 1-5/8" to 2" # HT58 on the smaller end back to the end of the shank is 1-5/8 inches. I attached a picture that shows this dimension as well as a review video as well.

  • Trailer Hitch Adapter to Go to a 2 Inch Receiver on a 1972 Chevy Monte Carlo
Trailer hitch receivers on passenger vehicles come in 1-1/4 inch, 2 inch, and 2-1/2 inch. Make sure you are measuring the width of the receiver opening, not the outside width. If it turns out you have a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening then you would need adapter # HTAD. Please note that the use of an adapter will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent.

  • Is There a Cargo Carrier that Can Fit Hitch Opening at Rear of Bike Rack
What you listed having is not a standard hitch size so we don't have a hitch adapter for it. While I don't know what bike rack you have most likely it is not made for a cargo carrier to be added. If you would like to hold 2 bikes and carry cargo, I recommend the Yakima EXO Swing Away 2 Bike Rack w/ Cargo Carrier - 2" Hitches # Y54ZR.
