If you own a boat and where you store it is a tight place this fromt hitch is a godsend it makes it much easier to control when putting away your boat 278968

We have floating boat docks made from old pontoon boats. The front mount hitch with the 12 volt wench will make it much easier to get them out of the river. 265473

Great hitch! The only problem I had with installation was that the rear right side plate that attaches to the frame was 1/4-inch too tight to fit and I had to widen it a bit on the ground using a sledge hammer. Otherwise, it fits and looks nice. Having a good view of the trailer does make putting trailers into tight parking spaces and down boat launch ramps a lot easier. Also, a carrier can be put on the front hitch to carry extra equipment when the truck bed is full. 220940

Theres nothing to wear out on this hitch and after a year it still works as it should. I have used it to hook a chain from it to some small tree stumps and roots to rip them out and I can keep an eye on whats happening during the process.

After trial fitting to locate correct frame holes with the use of my motorcycle jack, which was invaluable. The fishing of the bolt wire was the most trying. All in all it took me a couple hours to install. The jack was the key to the install. Happy with the result. 409608

This hitch fit my truck perfectly. The installation was straight forward. I was able to install the hitch by myself using a floor jack to stabilize it. It went quicker than the directions and other had stated. 249088

It's been a year. I confess, I had it professionally installed. ($150.00) but I have used that sucker every time I need to "back" into a tough spot. I simply detach, turn around and the travel trailer goes in smoothly. Equally important, when I need to carry the generator, I NEVER carry it on the rack on the back of the trailer. The bounce would ruin it. Instead a separate rack I purchased eleswhere sits up front and ride smoothly. A great addition. Every guy who sees me push rather than back in says "dude, what a great idea" I wish it was mine... 512585

etrailer is a good company to deal with - Prices are fair and the shipping is prompt. The Curt front hitch receiver C81083 had issues - and was a lot of extra work to install! The instructions were not year or model specific and the hitch arrived with one of the attachment arms over 11/4" out of position. I had to use my highlift jack to spread the arms so they would fit the chassis. I also had to remove a bracket to access the hole in the truck frame to pass the bolt and plate thru, and had to grind the edges of the plate to get it to fit thru the access hole. The receiver is lower than I expected and a year specific design would have allowed it to be approx. 1 1/2" higher. 670282

My 2015 F-150 will need a lift kit now that the front hitch is on. Very little clearance. Otherwise good construction. 604491

The installation of this hitch was easier than I anticipated. I was able to do the installation by myself with the aid of two floor jacks, and it was done without removing the front wheels. I purchased the Curt C31083 because it had a little more ground clearance the others that I looked at. This hitch seems to be a well made quality product. 575347

Hitch install was quick once I figured out which frame holes to feed the fish wire and bolts through. You really could use two people to make the install easier. 279929

I installed the curt front hitch on a 2018 f150 king ranch with 3.5L ecoboot. This sits much lower than the examples posted/pictured. This is taking away over 1" from ground clearance. the bottom of the receiver tube is about even with the bottom of the air dam. or about 3/4" lower than I expected from the pictures on this sight. The rear bolts are snugged down, but I cant get them to tighten, the inner bracket/plates are just rotating with the bolt as I turn. I have not found any ideas for getting the rear bolts tight. 679062

Comments
I spoke with my contact at Curt regarding the issue you are having getting the rear carriage bolts to tighten down fully. He advised to make sure that the spacers are not switched around on your rear carriage bolts. The rectangular spacer with the square hole needs to be against the head of the carriage bolt in order to hold the bolt in place while you are working to tighten the nut. The square hole sits around the nut on the inside of the bolt head and as the bolt spins, the spacer makes contact with the frame - acting as a wrench to hold the bolt in place so it can be securely tightened.

This product is well made. Made in the USA. I thought instructions and diagrams could have been clearer though. Time estimates for installation were off. Took me 2 hours to install. I did it without help and a extra set of hands would have made it much faster. Pump jack a must. Love the product and if instructions and diagrams were a little clearer I would give 5 stars 692411

A year later, I am still loving this hitch. It comes in handy for holding the fishing rod rack and the occasional trailer backing task. The hitch is all but hidden behind the air valance. The kit was easy to install and it looks Great! 242264

Installed on a 2018 F150 xlt 2.7 eco. The hitch sits about a inch lower than advertised. I just installed it today and will need to got to the lake to see if I can use it as it. Significantly reduces ground clearance on the front and it may be a problem for going up the driveway. The instructions need a lot of work and while they help a little the valance cutout measurements they give were wrong for my truck. My instructions said cut 3 x 2 5/8 inches and I had to cut 3 x 3 3/4 inch only left and inch of material on the front valance. I am not sure why the hitch needs to sit so low as there seems to be plenty of room to have it move up if it was redesigned. I paid the extra money for the CURT due to the ground clearance comments but it is hard to believe that anyone would design a hitch that sits any lower. 698868

I don't like giving poor reviews, but in this case I must. I bought "made in the USA" because i want to support our labor force. This front mount hitch in no way will fit without utilizing a lift, two or three (at least) jacks to support it in place, two (minimum) people, and a porta-power to spread the mounts to sandwich the frame. I have more tools than most diy'rs, but there is simply no safe way for one person to install this hitch. It does not fit the frame and will have to be spread hydraulically to install. If the USA mfg'r built a jig to weld this thing, they need to have it re calibrated. I would have preferred it fit loosely and have to insert shims instead of it being at least 1/4" too narrow to fit. 850344

Product received very quickly. Thank you. The box looks like it was in a war, but based on looking at the internals, they are all in apparent great shape. Will be mounting this over the weekend. I’ll update my review after the install fun! 849025

I ordered this hitch from etrailer and it's great. I screwed up the directions and did absolutely everything in reverse order. I made it a lot harder. Pull the air dam off your truck first (absolutely a must). Then put the hitch into place for the screws. Everything else will make sense then. Took me about 3-4 hours to install but I'm not mechanically inclined. It would take me about 30 minutes now minus the jacking process. 828583

Pros: Extremely stout Great to mount the bike rack up front when pulling the trailer Great customer service from eTrailer Cons: Installation instructions could be improved Rear of the hitch was about 3/16" inch narrower than the front (read on) First off, if I was to install this again, I would take a few minutes to block the truck and remove the front tires for easier access. Secondly, Curt has a video: Although it's similar, it is not the video for this part number. I don't know if the hitch got bent during shipping, but the 3/16" difference in the width caused a significant amount of grief. After fishing the carriage bolts through the frame, the front holes mounted up fairly easily. When trying to line up the rear holes, I had use a mallet to line up the hole on the driver's side because the hitch frame was so tight: When doing that, the fish wire snapped and the carriage bolt and washer fell into the frame. I tried a magnet to get them but couldn't locate them. Fortunately, a buddy had a spare bolt and washer, and with a little work and "encouragement" we were able to thread it through and bolt everything together. I want to emphasize that in the video, the plastic air dam appears to be trimmed from the top of the dam and the technician trimmed some tabs off of the dam. I didn't trim the tabs and after I did a preliminary line-up of the dam, I realized that I had to trim the bottom of the dam, not the top. Like I said, the receiver is really stout, it's USA made, and great customer service. It will solve our dilemma about being able to take the bikes when we take the trailer. If I didn't have such a hassle with losing that bolt, I would have given 5 stars. One last thing, I have 2018 F150 4x4 and with the hitch installed I have about 8 inches of clearance. 825374

About 1 hour total install time, read instruction , tool round up, Truck on ramps, i used a floor jack and a block of wood and a rubber mallet to position & hold it in place, fishing the wires thru takes a little creativity " slight bending on end " but very doable, then feeding the small plates and bolts into the frame and pulling the hardware thru the holes is easier than the initial wire fishing thru, Before you remove the wire fish from the threads of the bolt, i used my floor jack up a little to gently pinch the bolt so it would not fall inside the frame , then remove the fish wire from the bolt, start the nut and then move to the next hole / hardware fish thru, always pinching the bolt by lifting the floor jack just a little so your bolts don't fall inside the frame, leave the nuts loose until all are fished thru , Then position the angle you want the hitch " the holes allow a little elongation for wiggle room", and tighten , then torque per spec on your instructions, Really was pretty straight forward and just a little patients with the creativity of the curvature of the fish wires helps you to catch the end with a pair of needle nose pliers thru the hole. I tried to get all 4 bolts with one fish tape , " hint you can fish them thru in reverse with something else you may have like safety wire , then make 2 small hooks on the ends and pull the fish tape thru in the correct direction for the hardware to go into the frame's preexisting larger hole up higher , Difficulty level very easy. 824324

Once the hitch was on. It should work great. Directions were not so great. 2019 f 150 has 3 holes on each side you need to utilize. The bolt mounting hole for the front mounts. The round access hole that the bolt will fit through and the notch mounting hole for the rear that the rectangle washer fits through. Both the washer and the bolt to not pass through the same acces holes. So while trying to put the washer on the line and then fish the line back out the round acces hole to put the bolt on the line. I dropped 1 washer in the frame rail and 1 bolt in. Not easy to get out. Do not pull too hard on the fishing wire as the bolts will come out and fall into the frame rail. There are 2 front mounting holes on each side of the hitch. The pasanger side uses the back front mounting hole while the driver side uses the front hole. Using a floor jack i was able to get the front hole bolts pulled into place. PUT THE NUTS ON NOW SO THE WIRE DOES NOT BREAK OR COME OFF AND HAVE THE BOLT FALL BACK IN THE RAIL) raise the jack and use a pry bar to pry out the back of the hitch to slide it past the taped on waher. Pull bolt into place and put nut on. Repeat for other side. 818553

I am giving this 4 stars because it sits much lower than I was led to believe from reading these reviews. The hitch is really strong and well made though. I hope it’s not too low. I installed this on my 2018 F-150 3.5 eco boost yesterday. The install took an hour and a half. I elevated the front of the truck with ramps and supported the hitch with 2 jack stands. I also had my son helping me. I started on the front attachment point by lining up the hole. I made sure the holes in the frame and the hitch were lined up by testing with a bolt. I then fished the wire. I started by trying to feed the wire in through the access hole and pull it out through the bolt hole but quickly reversed that and it was much easier. Once I put the coiled end of the wire through the bolt hole, fishing out through the access hole took 30 seconds. Then I put the metal spacer with the square hole on the wire and threaded the bolt on. Every thing was fed through the access hole and it came out the bolt hole easily. The second hole further back on the hitch was easier because it’s only a couple of inches from the access hole. I messed up on the first side because I didn’t put the metal spacer with the round hole between the frame and the hitch. I was able to correct it though. I repeated this for all four bolts and tightened them down with hand tight. Before I tightened them down, I added some thread locker and used my hydraulic jack to push the hitch as high as I could to maximize ground clearance. Then I tightened them down with my impact wrench and the torque limiter to 110 lbs. The reason I’m only giving it four stars is because it is only 9” above the ground from the bottom of the hitch. I’m worried that is too low. Before I mounted it, I considered cutting 1”or 2” off the front tabs on the hitch and re-drilling the four holes. There is enough room between the hitch and the frame to raise it 2-3”. This would have given me another inch of clearance. But, I thought I’d just follow the instructions and see what happens. I figured if I don’t have enough clearance I can lift the front of the truck 2” to get rid of the factory front tilt. And I can take it off an modify it like I stated above. (I just am not sure how I will reverse fish the bolts and spacers out?) The pictures show: the clearance in inches, the tabs on the front that would need to be cut off (and maybe the back too if you want to get maximum clearance). And the amount of space between the horizontal tube and the frame. 794812

  • Which Front Hitch for 2016 Ford F-150 Sits Lower to Ground Curt or Draw Tite
The Draw Tite part # 65067 will sit lower to the ground than the Curt hitch part # C31083 which is also a fit for your 2016 Ford F-150. The Draw Tite requires you to notch a couple inches out of the bottom of the air dam up front, but the Curt requires you to cut a hole a bit higher for the hitch to fit through. In the picture I attached the Draw Tite is on the left and the Curt on the right.

  • Will Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver Reduce Ground Clearance on a 2018 Ford F-150
The good news is that neither the Curt # C31083 or the Draw-Tite # 65067 front mount trailer hitches will reduce the ground clearance on your 2018 Ford F-150. If you want a receiver that sits above the lowest piece of fascia then the Curt requires that a square hole be cut in the front fascia and it sticks straight through. The Draw-Tite sits a little lower and just requires that a notch be cut out at the bottom of the fascia, but the bottom of the receiver sits about level with the...

  • Curt or Draw-Tite Front Mount Hitch for 2018 Ford F-150
The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch # C31083 and the Draw-Tite # 65067 are extremely similar hitches that are both confirmed to fit your 2018 Ford F-150. Both hitches will mount to the same locations on the truck's frame and feature identical 500 pound vertical load and 900 pound line pull ratings. Between these two options I recommend going with the Curt simply because it will offer a slightly better ground clearance dimension. The hitch receiver on this model will protrude a bit further...

It will provide you with a 2" receiver and features a 9,000 pound line pull rating and a 500 pound vertical load limit. The receiver itself protrudes through the lower air dam so it won't affect your ground clearance, either (see attached image)....

The EcoHitch Hidden Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receivers like part # 306-X7904 are not available for the F-150, partly due to the large intercooler on the EcoBoost models. The Curt Front Hitch # C31083 for your 2020 Ford F-150 actually won't affect the truck's ground clearance at all. Both of the front hitches you referenced will fit your 2016 Ford F-150 SuperCrew 4WD as they are confirmed to fit all models of your truck. They are both priced about the same but since the Draw Tite part # 65067 has a bit more capacity it would be the hitch I would go with if it was my truck.

  • Front Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Ford F-150 Platinum
The only front hitches we offer for your 2015 Ford F-150 are the ones like the Curt Hitch part # C31083 that you referenced that come out below the bumper. This hitch would work well for you though.

  • How to Determine Installed Hitch Height for the Curt Front Hitch part # C31083 on 2015 Ford F-150
I don't have an exact figure I can give you, but what you can do is check out the picture I attached that shows where this hitch will locate relative to the front end of your truck. You will need to find that same area on your truck and then measure down to the ground. Since different trucks have different heights based on suspension and wheel size even if I could give you a number it may not be exact for your vehicle.

  • Will a Front Mounted Hitch Work with My 2016 Ford F-150 With a Lift Kit?
A lift kit should not affect the installation of the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch # C31083 on your 2016 Ford F-150 as long as the lift kit components do not cover the hitch attachment points. I've included the instructions for this hitch so that you can verify that the attachment points are not covered prior to ordering. What may be affected by your lift kit is the accessories you mount on your front hitch. A winch like # SW1595200 should not be an affected, but some other front-mounted...

  • Which Front Hitch for 2016 Ford F-150 Sits Higher the Curt or the Draw Tite
The Curt front hitch for your 2016 Ford F-150 # C31083 does sit higher than the Draw Tite that also fits your truck # 65067 still. The Draw Tite comes up below the rear air damn whereas the Curt installs through the air dam.

  • Will Installing Front Hitch on 2020 Ford F150 Compromise Ground Clearance
I don't have an exact measurement for ground clearance on the Curt # C31083 front mounted recevier to provide you with, but as shown in these photos, the underside of the bumper fascia sits lower than the receiver, so the receiver won't compromise your ground clearance in the front any more than the bumper fascia already has.

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for Front Hitch on a 2019 Ford F-150
Since you're wanting to use a bike rack at the front of your 2019 Ford F-150 with the Curt # C31083 I recommend going with the Kuat Sherpa. It comes in Gray # SH22G, Black # SH22B, and Pearl # SH22P, can hold up to two 40 lb bikes, and has an aluminum construction. Since this is a wheel mount rack it can work with a wide variety of bikes out there that don't have a front fender. The part I want to really focus on is the aluminum construction. Anything at the front of a vehicle is going...

  • Which Front Mount Hitch for 2020 Ford F-150 Has Better Ground Clearance
On your 2020 Ford F-150 the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch # C31083 will sit further up than the Draw-Tite alternative and actually won't affect the truck's ground clearance at all. The 2" receiver on the hitch will protrude right through the middle of the air dam so the air dam itself remains the lowest point on the F-150. I have attached a couple customer-submitted images of the Curt hitch installed so you can see exactly how it looks. I have also included the written installation...
