Features to know about

Seamless Connection Solutions: Multi-Function Adapter Versatility

For those who frequently switch between different trailers, the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Adapter is a game changer. Whether you're pulling a camper or a utility trailer, this adapter lets you smoothly transition between a 4-way flat to a 7-way RV-style connector. It’s perfect for retaining 4-way functionality while tapping into the robust features available with a 7-way connector — think extra lighting or trailer brake functions. Plus, it allows straightforward adaptation in cases where a replacement for a damaged 7-way is necessary.

Effortless Installation: Plug-and-Play Simplicity

Forget complicated setups. This adapter is designed for easy installation with its plug-and-lead design. The wiring harness seamlessly integrates with your vehicle’s existing 4-way flat connector, requiring minimal hardwiring. This user-friendly feature is invaluable for both weekend warriors who embark on spontaneous road trips and seasoned trailer haulers who value efficiency.

Weather the Elements: Enhanced Weatherproof Construction

No one likes dealing with the stress of rusty or damaged trailer connections due to adverse weather. Hopkins has thought ahead with weatherproofing measures such as internal seals and corrosion-resistant terminals. Dirt and moisture won't stand a chance, thanks to the durable ABS plastic lids that open widely, making connections a cinch while keeping the components protected.

Compact and Durable Design: Space-Saving Reliability

With a thoughtful design measuring just 2.9 x 3.9 x 6.9 inches, this compact unit fits right onto your vehicle without extra bulk. The oversized hinges and durable build ensure that even repeated use won't compromise its integrity, making it a reliable companion for any towing job. It’s designed with practicality in mind, aiming to merge convenience with longevity.

Adaptable to Multiple Needs: Built-In 4-Way Socket Convenience

If your trailer comes with basic lighting needs while still having a 7-way plug, you’ll appreciate the built-in 4-way flat socket directly below the 7-way. This dual functionality is ideal for users who may not need every feature of a 7-way all the time but still want the versatility to switch with ease.

Precision Fitment: Perfect for Factory Mounts

Worried about fitment on your vehicle? The precise hole spacing of the adapter's mounting brackets ensures compatibility with factory screw holes on many popular vehicle models. In the rare case where it’s not a direct fit, included mounting hardware allows for alternate installation, so you're always covered.

Packed full of practical functionality and thoughtful engineering, the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Adapter makes trailer towing a breeze while ensuring reliable connections across various scenarios. Say goodbye to trailer connectivity headaches and welcome hassle-free towing adventures!

Worked out pretty good. Had a hard time figuring out just how to attach it. I ended up just zip tieing it. It was a life saver that I could pull the rear plug apart. Made it possible to slide part of the harness thought a tight hole.

by:

Really easy to install. Plugs right in to the flat four wiring. I found a decent spot to mount the bracket and finished the installation. 5 minutes max. At this time I didn’t have to wire up a brake controller. That’s going to be a project for a different time. I would definitely recommend this product.

by:

Easy to install.

This plug is really made well and works with ease.

Hopkins makes a pretty nice trailer wiring kit. Coming also with a four pole outlet makes for a really nice unit. The housing also seems to be make fo decent material and does hold up well in wet climates where I live. Cant go wrong using this connector kit.

by:

This was exactly what I needed to convert the factory 4 pin to a combination 4 pin and 7 blade connector. It's been working great with both my trailers.

by:

Got this to replace the poorly constructed plug that came with the 7pin wiring kit. That plug broke at the spring hinge the second time I used it.
Surprised that Hopkins didn’t include “Butt Connectors” though. Seems a little nickel dimeish.
Had a good experience with Paul who refunded their price for the defective Kit plug as well as refunding the price difference for the wiring kit which had gone from $110 to $48. Overpriced to begin with but convenient.
Paul did real good dealing with a pissed off Old Guy

Plug continues to perform satisfactorily. Happy with Etrailer service.

by:

I just got it a few days ago and it is not installed. But, it came with mounting hardware and bracket, so that is nice. The wire harness also plugs into the main body which is also a nice feature. I also like that it has a secondary 4 pole socket directly below the 7 pole in case you are pulling a utility trailer without brakes. Build quality seems good. It is all plastic, but doesn't seem flimsy at all. I would recommend this product.

Note that a 7 pole has extra circuits for:
1. charging rv or trailer brake battery
2. rv or trailer brakes
3. backup lights (center pole and purple wire)

This receptacle was easy to install and has worked great. No problems at all.

by:

Living in NY, the winter salt killed my previous 7 way within two years. Purchased this item in hopes that it will hold up better. Time will tell.
Ordering, receiving and install went smooth. Seems a little better than my old one.

by:

One year later still works good

by:

This product was installed on my Lexus RX350. I had the dealer perform the installation.

The Service department appreciated the direct connectivity to the existing trailer wire. We added a connection to a 12 volt source.

It was placed directly on the lower part of the bumper. Looks Great and works correctly.

by:

I had to do a little figuring of where I wanted to put it and how to install it on the car, but ultimately it is working fine. The bracket is a little flimsy but if you push it forward with your other hand when putting in the connector it works fine.

by:

The connector is made of high grade material and was engineered very nicely. This was an easy installation as well. The connector was found to be a reliable device and made us feel safe while pulling our equipment.

by:

This, and everything else I ordered from etrailer came without a hitch. They also provided great customer service, answering my question about another product in a timely and complete way.

by:

Everything I have ordered from etrailer has been quality products. I especially like the installation videos which are a great help. It's great they give you frequent updates by e-mail about the status of your order and shipping has been really fast.

by:

Easy to install, this kit was a breeze. I do wish that the install instructions were more informative but that's no biggie if you know your way around a vehicle.

by:

Easy to install and adds 7 pin connecti on.

by:

Great product for hooking up my camper and or trailer with no problems to my 2007 jeep liberty. Recommend this product for people who want do the same.

by:

Better product than expected. Just what the Trailer Doctor Ordered. Thanks.

by:

Great product and great price

I originally felt that this adapter was overpriced but after realizing how simple this made the install it was money well spent

by:

Great customer service

by:

Perfect for connecting the tail lights from my RV to my car on the car dolly.

by:

Product arrived in a timely fashion with no surprises! Seems like a quality product but unhappy that I can't buy an American made product even at a
Premium price! Only time will tell how durable the product will be

by:

Perfect fit with factory wiring harness connector.

by:

Produce is good. I have to redo my connection to match plug.

This made fast work for pulling my camp er.

  • Difference Between 4-Pole to 7-way Wiring Adapters 47180 and 37185
Hopkins part # HM47180 is a 4-pole-to-7-way wiring adapter that is equivalent to the similar # 37185. The only real functional difference between them is that on part # 37185 the 4-pole trailer connector is located to the side of the 7-way, rather than under it as with # HM47180. Both adapters plug in at an existing 4-pole vehicle connector and re-format those lighting signals to the 7-way configuration. The 7-way can be wired, if desired, to add new functions by using the included pigtail...

  • Brake Controller and Install Wiring Needed for 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Since you have a 7-Way you will only need a few more components to complete a brake controller install on your vehicle. First let's start with a brake controller. I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to set up. Next, for a wiring kit to install the brake controller to the 7-way you would want the Wiring Kit for 2 and 4 Brake Electric Brake Controllers # 5506. This will...

The problem with running a power wire from your travel trailer battery is there is nothing maintaining the power supply to your trailer battery and when it dies or the power begins to drop your braking can stop working. You really need to have Wire # 10-1-1 with a Circuit Breaker # PK54230PL running to the battery on your 2018 Honda Odyssey. Thanks for all the info. That makes giving you specifics a lot easier. Because you are looking at the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional # TK94FR and you already have a 4-way trailer connection, this will be easy. You will just need a 7-way adapter, a circuit breaker, and some wire. • 7-Way Adapter Recommendation for 2016 Honda Odyssey EXL with Aftermarket 4-Way
For your 2016 Honda Odyssey that has an aftermarket 4-way you'll need to use a 7-way adapter like the # 37185 to convert to a 7-way since your vehicle does not have 7-way or brake controller factory wiring. That said, I would recommend the part # ETBC7L for the 7-way adapter and then for a brake controller the Curt Echo Mobile # C51180 as this is the easiest to install and best option. Once you plug it into your 7-way and it's synced to your smart phone it's totally ready to tow without...

You would plug your Honda's 4-way into the adaptor's 4-way and then plug it into the 7-way of your trailer. The lights will function but nothing else will. You will want to tape up the extra wires or cut them off if you have no intention of ever using them. This is the simplest and least expensive way to do what you are wanting.

  • Is Hopkins or Pollak Better for Trailer Connectors?
Personally, I'm a much bigger fan of Pollak than I am of Hopkins. In my experience, I've had fewer issues with 7-way plug fitting loosely with Pollak brand 7-ways and Pollak is generally the "go-to" brand for most OEM truck setups.  The snag is there isn't a 4-way and 7-way Pollak branded trailer connector currently, but I have some good news.
