Can a Curt Echo Be Powered Off The Trailer Battery On a Travel Trailer?

Question:
Ive got a bit of an unusual question about this 4-way to 7-way adaptor. I currently have a 4-way harness on my 2018 Honda Odyssey. My travel trailer has a 7-way plug. I understand that this would run the basic light functions off of the 4-way. I would like to also have 12v coming through this so I can plug in the Curt Echo wireless brake controller and control my travel trailer brakes. I would like to avoid running wire all the way to my 12v on my van. Could I run the 12v on the 7-way adaptor to the battery on my travel trailer, instead? This would give 12v to the 7-way, which would then power the Curt Echo and allow the brakes to activate. Thoughts? Thanks!

The problem with running a power wire from your travel trailer battery is there is nothing maintaining the power supply to your trailer battery and when it dies or the power begins to drop your braking can stop working. You really need to have Wire # 10-1-1 with a Circuit Breaker # PK54230PL running to the battery on your 2018 Honda Odyssey. The you will be able to safely use the Curt Echo # C51180 with the 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter # HM47180 you found from Hopkins.

Thanks so much for your quick reply, Bud. If I have solar charging on my travel trailer, do you think that would solve it?
