Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Hopkins Plugin Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with four pole flat trailer connector. Now this wiring harness has been designed to fit your 2002 to 2006 Toyota Camry and on custom fit parts such as this harness, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. Simply input the year, make and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now this harness is going to give you this four pole flat trailer connector at the back of your Camry to power your vehicle, your trailer signal lights rather from your vehicle.

This is gonna be compatible with five, six, and seven pole adapters. Those adapters are sold separately. We do have a dust cap here for the four pole flat connector that's gonna cover up those connection points when this plug is not in use. Now you see this black box here, this is the taillight converter and this is built into this T-connector wiring harness. Now because most trailers run on a two wire system where the brake and the turn signals are carried on one wire, the separate break and turn signals from your vehicle's three wire system need to be combined so that they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer.

This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your vehicle so they can run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's taillights. Now this will not affect how your taillights on your vehicle operate. Then we also have these custom fit T-connectors that are going to plug into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is gonna be located behind the driver's side and passenger side taillights. You will have to remove the rear threshold plate and some interior paneling to access that harness. But once you find the harness, you'll just carefully unplug the harness from the taillights and then you'll plug these connectors in between on each of those ends there.

And you wanna be careful so you don't break any tabs off. But these are custom fitted for your vehicle, so they're gonna match your Camry perfectly. Now once you have these plugged in, you do need to make a good ground connection and the ground wire is this white wire. If you notice, it does have a ring terminal attached to it and it does come with a self-tapping screw that you see there on my table. So you're gonna be able to get this grounded to a suitable location such as your Camry's frame or cross member.

You just wanna make sure that that surface is clean and rust free. Next, you will need to run this hot lead to your vehicle's battery. That's this short red wire that's coming out of the box here, the taillight converter box. This short red wire is going to get connected to one end of this included bundle of red wire. And you're going to use this already attached butt connector here to attach one end of this router, one end of this bundle of red wire, and then the other end, you're gonna route to your Camry's battery. And once you have the other end routed to your battery, you're going to take this fuse holder and you're going to connect this wire to the routed end of this bundle. And then this wire will get secured to the positive post of your Camry's battery. In here, we do have a 20 amp fuse, it looks like in that fuse holder. So this fuse holder's gonna keep that fuse safe and protected. Now once installation is complete, the four way connector will be stowed in your trunk and it is recommended that you use a small amount of terminal grease on all of your connections. So this does include terminal grease. So you can put this on your four pole flat connector and on the plugs that go in your car to prevent any corrosion. You will get a really good selection quantity if you will, of cable ties to secure any slack in your wiring.
