Video Transcript for Stromberg Carlson Leveling Scissor Jack Review

Speaker 1: Today you'll be getting a look at and seeing how to install the Stromberg Carlson Leveling Scissor Jack Set, with a quantity of two, part number JSC-24. They're also available in a quantity of one, with part number JSC-24-IND.You can bet on this pair of jacks. These scissor jacks from Stromberg Carlson are great for stabilizing and leveling your camper. As you can see, if your trailer is out of level, you can use your scissor jacks to level it. Check it out. Much better.

As you can see, without your scissor jacks engaged, there's a lot of movement in your trailer. With your scissor jacks engaged, all that extra movement is gone. They're adjustable between four and 24 inches and they have a 5000 pound weight capacity per jack. You can easily raise and lower them with the included crank handle. It's going to work out great on most surfaces.

As you can see, we're on concrete here. The bow-tie base is going to keep it steady even on soft surfaces. They're a bolt-on or weld-on installation. We'll go ahead and show you how to bolt them on now. Here you can see our old rusted out stabilizer jack. It's bent.

We're going to be replacing it. I've gone ahead and removed the old stabilizer. Let's bring in our new one. With our new one, you can see it's got multiple mounting locations. It's completely universal.

Now, you may or not be able to use your same mounting holes and locations. What you need to do is hold it up and figure out where it's going to work best. Now, once you've found a good location to install your stabilizer jack, you want to be sure that you can still easily access your drive nut, which is going to raise and lower your stabilizer jack. You'll want to raise your jack up to where it's making contact with your frame where you want to install it. Then you can mark your holes. Now, there are six holes on each side. I'm only going to be using four total, two on each side. You can use whichever holes work out best for you. Once you've got your holes marked, go ahead and move the jack out of the way, and then you can begin drilling out your holes. I'm going to be drilling out quarter-inch holes. If you'd like to, you can use a pilot bit and then drill out your final size. All right. With all those drilled out, you can go ahead and install your stabilizer jack. You will have to provide your own hardware.I'm just using some quarter-inch bolts with some flat washers and lock nuts. Now you can bring your jack back in and align your holes. Now you'll just loosely install all your hardware. Now we can tighten up our hardware. Now you can raise up your jack and it's ready for when you need it. That's going to complete your look at the Stromberg Carlson Leveling Scissor Jack set.

Very happy with the quality and craftsmanship of this jack. I was confident in its durability and ability to do the job from the moment I opened the box. Installation was a snap, using self-tapping #14 bolts (not supplied), and my leveling blocks made it easy for one person to install. Once installed, the combination of the four jacks, the double axle, and the tongue jack all gave my 25' 4500 lb trailer a very stable feel. I would highly recommend this jack to anyone looking to replace the cheaper stabilizers that usually come with new travel trailers. 228190

Great product for the price. Arrived with no issues. However both sides of the mounting bracket weren't level/flat. I had to put it in my vise to straighten it out to be able to weld them both. No biggie for my speed shop but for someone who might not have the means or capability, it might be an issue. 494130

The backing washer weld broke and I could not lift the jack back up. I am having a friend tack weld it back instead of replacing it because it is such a hassle to return it and remount it. Looking at the other one I purchased I will be tack welding that one as well. The Company needs to spend just another second to do it right! 453373

The stabilizer jack was a perfect fit for replacing the original that I broke on my travel trailer. 4 self tap metal screws from the original installation was all that was required to install. 107643

Better than the stock one it replaced. Smooth lifting action with only a little bit of corrosion on the drive nut after a year but I live on the coast and everything ends up rusting out here eventually. I would suggest a light spray of dry-lube every few months on the hinges to keep things moving nicely. All in all a very good product that took less than 10 minutes to install. 728527

This jack is exactly what I needed to replace a broken jack on my travel trailer. I installed the jack using existing holes in the frame of the trailer. The jack is sturdy and well designed; it is easy to lower and raise using a crank. 657402

One of the jacks on my Sunline camper (trailer) was bent while moving the trailer across uneven ground. I bought the scissor jack to replace it about a year ago. It is constructed with heavy enough materials to do the job of keeping the camper firm. I don’t like it when the camper rocks and rolls when you step into it! It was fairly simple to install. Of course, because it is new it cranks up and down smoothly. Hopefully I won’t need to buy another but I’ll buy one like it if I ever bend another one. 564049

I went to our warehouse and measured the Leveling Scissor Jack # JSC-24-IND. The bolts on the # JSC-24-IND are 2 inches apart center to center, just like they are in your photo. When closed, the stand measures 4 inches from the base to the top of the mounting bracket. It's very possible that yours, as an older jack, is simply looser when closed than the new jack, and that this is the cause of the additional 1/2 inch length on your current jack. If anything, a new jack should provide...

This socket will be used with your power drill to extend or retract the scissor jack up to 10 times faster than with the standard manual crank. • Can Scissor Jacks be Bolted or Welded On and Do They have to Face a Certain Way
Scissor jacks such as # JSC-24-IND used for stabilization of a trailer/RV can be welded or bolted on. However, if you choose to weld them on using a professional welder is recommended. There is no specific way they have to be placed. I have seen them with the scissor arms perpendicular to the frame and parallel with the frame. It all depends on the area they are being mounted and the available space. You will want as much contact with the mounting flanges on the jacks as you can get.

  • Need Scissor Jack with Mounting Holes on Top and Bottom to Raise and Lower a Frame
I recommend going with the Leveling Scissor Jack, # JSC-24-IND. This leveling scissor jack has a 5,000 pound capacity, adjusts from 4" to 24" inches, and has mounting holes on the top and bottom plates. Since this jack adjusts from 4 inches and you mentioned that you need a jack that retracts to less than 4 inches, I recommend that you take a quick measurement to make sure that you won't have any clearance issues. The Crank Handle for Scissor Jacks, # JCH-1, is sold separately.
