Really nice roof basket fits nicely on my 22 Outback wilderness, I think it will be perfect with the 18” extension.

Very solid Cargo Basket; expensive, like all Yakima products, but should last forever. Took 30 minutes to put together; will probably take another 30 minutes to put on top of our 2021 Subaru Forester (Waiting until tomorrow for cross bars to arrive). When it was delivered I was concerned because the box had two corners completely torn out from shipping, but the pieces inside were in perfect condition, so no harm done.
I think regarding functionality; this is a great cargo basket but one of the buffers that connects to the basket to the car roof rack snapped off on its first use. I can still use it but it is now a separate piece from the unit. I bought the locking set with it; no problems thus far. Would still continue to use despite that one flaw. It appears to slightly flimsy but the rack is still great to use.
Love the look of this basket. Installed onto 2018 Subaru Outback. Added the extension, looks nice with the long roof of the Outback! Easy install, and I marked the spots on the rails on basket w/ a sharpee to make re-installs easy for when I remove the basket during car washes. Easier to put on with someone helping, but not impossible to install on the car yourself. No regrets with this thing, love the look!

Really fast fulfillment and delivery! The medium-sized Yakima OffGrid basket looks great on my car and assembled in about 10 minutes, with installation taking about 15 after doing all the measuring and adjustments to the clamps. Great looking and sturdy product. I used leftover vinyl wrap from my trim work on the red connectors to match everything up. Really happy with the final product!
The Yakima OffGrid medium rack arrived yesterday at about 10:30 a.m. It was fully unpacked/assembled/installed by about 11:45. etrailer did a fine job of communicating/pricing/delivering and supporting this good product. I've been using Yakima products (and others) for biking, paddling, fishing etc. for about 45 years. This rack is a serious solution to a variety of uses of a roof rack. I will be able to use it on various vehicles and for a number of applications (sports, chores,travel etc.) It has more flexibility than most racks and I can't imagine a more durable, quality design. My particular needs, being in my "Dotage", are met by the ability to remove the cross bars and fairing for an open platform, or keep them on and custom fit to a spare tire, or bike rack, kayak rack etc. The attaching mechanisms drew my attention. I put this on the car with solo and with caution using a protective mat. It is very manageable and easy to fit. These mechanisms for tightening down on the crossbars bring the added value (and cost) to folks like me that don't want to spend a lot of time and effort installing a rooftop rack. I wanted secure, solid attachment with simplicity. The OffGrid delivers! No pain killers needed after the install! This "Medium" OffGrid is more than adequate for my initial uses. The internal and external dimensions are pretty much ideal for this 2017 Sienna. A full size spare tire will fit just right. A nice fit for a canoe as well. I admit to scouring the internet and considering dozens of products from baskets to platforms and this OffGrid showed a lot of promise. Its versatility and ruggedness competes with the best designs at about half the price of many. My thoughts included the extension bracket, but the medium OffGrid really does meet most of my expectations and needs for various applications. Now, to the matter of noise. There is wind noise. However, for me, it simply blends into the symphony of white noise that comes with highway travel (and the ringing in my ears) :)......Of all the racks, bikes, canoes,kayaks ladders, lumber, etc., etc. that I have carried on car tops, the wind sounds of this carrier are negligible. The fairing is a nice, well thought out feature that works well. So, my five star rating is for both the product and the vendor. Once again "eTrailer" has proven themselves to be one of the best sources of such products nationwide. Their product information efforts are an industry leader and they deserve credit for providing extremely helpful product reviews and explanations. That's what got me to choose them on this purchase. Those of us well into our "Dotage" appreciate learning all we can!
This Yakima Offgrid (large) fits great on my 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness. It took me a couple of hours to assemble and install by myself.
This is where I give the folks at etrailer a big shout out on making this happen. My original order was trashed by the shipping company and everyone at etrailer jumped in, to get a replacement shipped out to replace it. Just another reason why etrailer is my go to for my stuff. Thanks again.
As always, etrailer did a great job getting the large Yakima OffGrid rack to us quickly and at a good price. The rack went together fairly easily, but one side was very difficult to get the screw-holes to line up correctly. This took almost an hour of “persuading” and the occasional expletive. If it weren’t for that, it would have taken around 30 minutes to assemble. It took two of us about 15 minutes to install it the first time, but this is mostly due to the height of the truck and needing to go back and forth to get everything aligned just how we wanted it. Could likely cut that down to about 5 minutes in the future. It’s nice to know we can easily remove and install it to reconfigure our truck, as needed. I love the size, look, strength, and low wind noise of the rack, just wish they had use aluminum to keep the weight down. It uses up a good amount of the crossbar capacity. Just a trade off to keep in mind when going with this rack for overlanding. We just keep lighter weight camping gear and such on it, so willing to trade the weight for the robust build and versatility.
I recieved my order in just a couple of days. It was easy to assemble and fits as advertised.

Nice tubing and welding.
Screws aren’t So big, but it seems like there’s enough to keep everything stif. The powder coat scratched very easily as someone else mentioned while assembling on concrete. I built it on the plastic bags the parts come wrapped in But the actual cardboard boxes would have been better. Looks great with the 18” extension on 2019 Explorer.

I am extremely satisfied with my Yakima roof rack and how easy it was to install. It looks really nice on my Tiguan and for safety reasons I recommend if your not comfortable with lifting heavy objects 2 have someone else help you.
Reason why I bought it? Road trips,camping and using my vehicle as my mobile home.
No reason to not give etrailer 5 stars. Strongly recommended.
