Can Rooftop Tent Mount on Cargo Basket?

Question:

I just purchased the Rola basket EXT. I know it can hold up 180 pounds. My question is whether I can mount a rooftop tent on it. The tent is well below the baskets weight limit. I don’t want to have to keep removing the basket to put the tent on. Thanks.

It depends on the tent; most rooftop tents, such as the Yakima SkyRise HD # Y07436, mount to crossbars and not cargo baskets such as your Yakima OffGrid Roof Cargo Basket # Y07138-08. Additionally, your roof basket has the 180 lb cargo limit but you do need to go by whatever capacity is lower, your vehicle's roof or the basket, despite whatever capacity a roof tent may have.
