Carry a Surfski or Ocean Kayak

Series-X Universal Watersport Carrier
LockRack's Series-X surfski carrier has an expandable base that works with ratcheting arms, allowing you to carry 1 surfski or 1 narrow ocean kayak. You don't have to own several carriers, changing them out each time you want to take a different boat to the water.

Series-X Universal Watersport CarrierExpandable Base

The carrier can expand or contract depending on the size of your boat. There are 4 holes in the middle expansion piece for the t-bolts once you've adjusted the carrier to your desired width. If your boat is wider, you can expand the base, threading the t-bolts through the carrier's base, then through the 2 holes furthest from the center of the bar. If you have a slimmer boat, close the gap between the 2 base pieces of the carrier, then thread the t-bolts through the 2 holes closest to the center of the bar.

When your LockRack is not in use, you don't need to uninstall the carrier from your roof. Just remove the arms, rotate them 90-degrees, and then reinsert them so that they lay parallel with the roof of your vehicle. This will reduce wind noise and give you more clearance when parking in your garage.

No Load Straps Needed
Series-X Universal Watersport Carrier

This carrier's two sets of curved, ratcheting arms firmly hold your boat in place on your way to and from the water. Its design removes the need for load straps, however, bow/stern tie-downs are still recommended as they prevent your boat from shifting forward or backward during travel, especially during sudden starts or stops.

Ratchet ArmsAdditional Straps

To load your surfski or ocean kayak on to the Series-X you'll first need to remove the arms from one side of each carrier. To remove each arm, put the key in, rotate it, and pull the arm out, giving you access to the carrier's base. Once your boat is loaded, push the arms in until they click into place, securing it to your vehicle. To further secure your watercraft, you can attach bow and stern straps from your boat to the front and rear of your vehicle (sold separately).

><img class=

If your vehicle doesn't have any tie-down points, you can get an anchor kit (sold separately), which will let you create anchor points for bow and stern straps in the creases of your vehicle's hood and hatch.

Built-In Security
Ratchet Arms

LockRack carriers have security built-in with locks in the base of the carrier, securing the ratcheting arms. Once you've locked your boat in the carrier by pushing the arms tight against your watercraft, the arms will stay locked until you remove them with a key.

Replacement Key Number

This carrier comes with 4 identical keys. Once the arms are locked in place, insert a key into the locking mechanism in the carrier base. Rotate the key to unlock and release the ratcheting arms. If you ever need a replacement key (sold separately) you'll need to know your original key number. This number is not located anywhere on the carrier so be sure to make note of the numbers printed on the inside of the original set of keys.

  • Can I Load the Kayak From the Rear w/ the LockRack Series-X Universal Watersport Carrier LR88FR?
Hey Amie. You can indeed load a kayak from the rear on the LockRack Series-X Watersport Carrier item # LR88FR. There's nothing that will stop you from getting it over the rubber padded bars so long as you have the arms folded down and out of the way. The LockRack Series-X Watersport Carrier item # LR88FR works with kayaks measuring 22-1/2" - 42-1/4" wide. For a 21" wide kayak, you'll need the item # LR28FR. This one works with kayaks 18-3/4" - 33-1/2" wide. A 24" beam kayak loaded onto...

  • Could The LockRack Series-X Surfski Carrier LR28FR Hold Two Longboard Surfboards?
Hey Mark, thanks for reaching out. The LockRack Series-X Surfski Adjustable Watersport Carrier # LR28FR might work for carrying two surfboards but it really depends on the size of the boards. The # LR28FR carrier has maximum internal dimensions of 33-1/2" wide x 9-1/2" tall, so you'll want to check the size of both boards when stacked on top of each other. As long as both boards don't exceed those internal dimensions, you'll be good to go. If you find that doesn't give you enough room,...

  • Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier Recommendation for 2024 Subaru Forester with Raised Roof Rails
Hey Dimitri, so your best option would be a roof rack with longer crossbars like the Malone part # MAL84AR that fits the raised rails on the roof of your 2024 Subaru Forester. This will give you crossbars that are 58 inches long. Then to carry each of the kayaks you could use the LockRack Surf Ski Carrier part # LR28FR which can attach to the top channel of the Malone rack and you'd be set. You'd need two of these racks.

  • Recommended Roof Rack For a 2024 Toyota Camry For Carrying a Kayak
I recommend installing the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack on your 2024 Toyota Camry. I prefer this roof rack as the crossbars use a 2 piece channel seal which makes it easy to slide in a Kayak Carrier # LR28FR. You will need the Crossbars # TH711420, Feet # TH710501 and Fit Kit # TH145082 to attach to your roof.

  • Can a Second SUP Carrier Be Added to the Single SUP Carrier System?
Unfortunately there is no expansion kit for the Lockrack Adjustable Stand-Up Paddle Board Carrier # LR47FR and the arms are not available separately. To carry your two boards, you'd have to upgrade your entire setup with the Lockrack Adjustable Watersport Carrier - Kayak, Canoe, or 2 SUPs - Side Loading - Universal Mount # LR24VR.

  • Recommended Roof Rack Carrier for Surf Board & Canoe with Outriggers
Hey Stephen, I have a couple of options for you, but I found a range of different sizes online for OC1 outrigger canoes so I can't confirm which is best for you without measurements. The LockRack Series-X Surfski Adjustable Watersport Carrier - Side Loading - Channel Mount # LR28FR would be a great fit for your kayak and canoe if the dimensions fall between 18-3/4"x8-1/2" and 33-1/2"x9-1/2". If you need something a little larger, LockRack Series-X Universal Watersport Carrier - Saddle...
