Can Thule Epos Bike Rack TH99XE Be Used On A Travel Trailer?

Updated 08/12/2025 | Published 06/30/2025

Question:

I was sold a EPOS 2-BIKE rack for carring my two e-bikes one 40 pounds and one 60 pounds. I was told it will work on my 23ft camper factory hitch!

Hello Tim, thanks for reaching out. The Thule Epos Bike Rack # TH99XE does have a capacity of 75 lbs per bike, BUT it is not rated for use on a camper or travel trailer, so it would not be safe to use for that application. You will need a bike rack that is specifically rated for a travel trailer, Swagman Escapee # S39SR. This is rated for RVs and travel trailers and has a capacity of 60 lbs per bike.

If you want to return that Thule rack just shoot me your order number and I can get the ball rolling on that.

Hey Tim, did you end up getting the Swagman Escapee bike rack for your camper? I'm curious to know if it worked out for you, as it might help others in a similar situation!

No I did not. I instead ending up getting the Yakima on ramp lx-e bike ramp made for e-bikes on the back of a camping trailer. It works great everything stayed where it was suppose to be on the trip of 1700mi to the black hills and back. It hold two e-bikes, which is what we had on it!

@TimH Oh ok cool! I actually used to have a Yakima rack and I was very happy with it. The only reason I got rid of it was because someone rear ended me and the rack took the worst of it. Anyway, sounds like you made a good choice for your bike rack. I am sure the ramp will come in handy too. What kind of E-Bikes do you have? Just curious.
