If you like a clean look when you’re not towing, this base plate keeps things tidy. The hidden design means the brackets don’t stick out past the front, and the removable arms twist off easily once you’re unhooked. Snap in the receiver covers to keep dirt and debris out so everything stays smooth and ready for the next trip.

Each arm slides into the receiver and locks in place with a simple twist, then releases just as easily when you pull the pin. It’s quick enough for one person to handle without wrestling with stubborn parts. This design makes connecting and disconnecting your tow bar straightforward whether you’re at home or at a campsite.

This setup bolts directly to the chassis using the included hardware—no welding required. The sturdy steel frame spreads towing forces evenly across the front end to reduce suspension stress. The powder-coated finish helps resist rust and corrosion so it holds up through years of road use.
The lugs pair securely with Blue Ox tow bars for a solid link between your rig and towed vehicle. If you’re running Roadmaster or Demco gear, it’s adaptable using the correct adapter—RM-031, RM-031-5, or DM9523041 (sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to add an electrical connector bracket right where you need it.
Once everything’s installed, this base plate stays put and performs mile after mile without shifting or flexing. The 20" distance between brackets and 15" bracket height give predictable geometry for consistent alignment every time you hook up. It’s a dependable foundation for long-haul towing that keeps your setup smooth and secure on the open road.

I am glad you were able to get it installed with no issues and a little help from our video! What kind of coach are you pulling the Kia Soul with?

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.
