If you prefer a clean, factory look when you’re not towing, this design does exactly that. The hidden base plate keeps brackets tucked out of sight and the removable arms twist off in seconds, leaving nothing protruding past the front of your vehicle. The included receiver covers plug into the openings to keep dirt and debris out, so everything stays protected and ready for the next trip.
Connecting is simple with the twist-lock system. Each arm slides into its receiver, rotates until it locks in place, and secures with a pull pin—no tools or fuss. When you’re done towing, just pull the pin, rotate the arms, and remove them. It’s quick to do solo and makes setup straightforward whether you’re in your driveway or on the road.
This base plate bolts directly to the chassis using the included mounting hardware—no welding required. The sturdy steel build spreads towing forces evenly across the frame to help reduce stress on your suspension over long hauls. The powder-coated finish resists rust and corrosion for lasting durability through years of travel.
Already have a tow bar setup you like? This base plate is designed to pair with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure connection. It’s also adaptable for use with Roadmaster tow bars when you add adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 (sold separately), or with Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug bracket (sold separately) so your wiring stays neat and accessible up front.
You can tackle this install with standard tools and patience since it’s a bolt-on job—no special fabrication needed. The brackets mount securely to your chassis, aligning for reliable performance once installed. With a distance between brackets of 17-1/2" and a bracket height of 14-1/2", it’s easy to plan the rest of your towing setup around these measurements.

Excellent product. A year later looks and works like new. Perfect fit for my 2012 Ford Focus TOWD. Installation instructions clear. Self installed in an afternoon.
This is a well made product. It is not a simple install and not a quick one. The etrailer video is very helpful and easy to follow. The frame rails are very tough and drilling through them took some time and effort. Getting the handle nuts on the bolts inside the frame rail is also challenging. It took me some bending and re-bending of the handles to make it work. Start in the back work towards the front.
Ordered very specialized items to flat tow an older car behind my motorhome. Unsurprisingly one item had to be special ordered. Notwithstanding, delivery was timely and I was called regularly with updates on expected shipping. The base plate is a large and heavy item with many edges and corners that would leave it vulnerable to shipping damage yet it arrived in pristine condition. Very pleased with etrailer. As always.
I can't speak to the installation because I had it professionally done, and as for "performance" it easy to use and does its job fine. I have coupled with a Blue Ox tow bar and Blue Ox seems to be a quality product. I've purchased a couple of items from eTrailer and have to say they have a great customer service crew.
I installed the base plate myself which saved me a lot of money. The best part about etrailer is that for most items there is a detailed installation video which makes it a lot easier for DIY.

Since installing the Blue Ox base plate I have towed my Ford Focus over 2000 miles and everything works great. The car tracks great I observe it with my rear camera and is not affected by wind gusts or big trucks passing.
Extremely easy to install and great instructions. Hands down Naomi is the go to person at E Trailer, very professional and knowledgeable.
Received today. Have to have it installed. Will post review when finished. Product looks well built.
Excellent service. I was able to install the tow bracket and light kit myself and use it daily, because we now live full time in our RV.
Blue Ox base plates, towbars and all accessories are excellent and high-quality items.
The base plate kit installed just as advertised and over the last year I have towed the vehicle approximately 10,000 miles with no issues whatsoever. I would definitely recommend this base plate.
