Question:
The car I want to tow is a 2013 Ford Focus SE automatic. I already have a Roadmaster Blackhawk towbar rated to tow 8,000 lbs. Can I use the Blue Ox baseplate BX2633 with my towbar? Will I need to make any changes to either?

With the addition of the Roadmaster Tow Bar to Blue Ox Brackets Adapter, # RM-031, you can use the Blue Ox Base Plates, # BX2633, with your Roadmaster Blackhawk towbar. These base plates are specifically designed for use with your 2013 Ford Focus SE but are not compatible with the ST model or any vehicle equipped with the adaptive cruise control feature.
In addition to the base plates, you may also still need safety cables, a lighting solution and in most states, a supplemental braking system. I am including a few recommendations for you.
Roadmaster Coiled Safety Cables, # RM-643, to offer extra security for your tow system.
Optronics Magnetic Tow Lights, # TLL21RK, to provide the emergency flashers and signal lights required for towing without having to tap into existing wiring.
Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System, # RM-9400, with inertia-activated proportional braking for quicker, safer stops and less wear and tear on your vehicle and motor home, Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit, # RM-751454, and 12 Volt Outlet Kit, # RM-9332.
I always recommend consulting the owner's manual first to determine whether the manufacturer provides specific instructions for flat towing your 2013 Ford Focus SE. I have also included links to several of our articles about flat towing that you may want to check out.
