This base plate keeps your vehicle looking factory-clean when you’re not towing. The completely hidden design means no bulky brackets or bars sticking out past the front end. The removable arms twist out easily, and the included receiver covers plug into the openings to keep dirt and debris out while giving the front end a finished look.
Connecting your tow bar is quick and simple. Each arm inserts into the receiver, twists to lock, and secures with a pull pin—no tools or guesswork needed. When you’re done towing, just pull the pin, twist again, and remove the arm. The setup feels solid every time you connect. With a bracket distance of 32-1/2" and bracket height of 18-1/2", you can line up your tow gear with confidence.
The sturdy steel construction is built to handle serious towing mileage. It bolts directly to the chassis—no welding required—and spreads towing forces evenly across the frame to help prevent stress on suspension components. The powder-coated finish resists rust and corrosion, so it stays strong and good-looking through years of use.
If you’ve already got a tow bar you like, this base plate plays well with it. The lugs pair directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure connection. It’s also adaptable for Roadmaster tow bars using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5, and for Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (all sold separately). Integrated mounting points let you add an electrical connector bracket up front so your wiring stays organized and ready to plug in.
This kit’s bolt-on design makes setup simple for anyone comfortable turning wrenches. It mounts directly to your vehicle’s chassis using the included hardware—no welding or special tools required. Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.
