BOLT (Breakthrough One-key Lock Technology) has solved that problem by designing a line of locks that can operate with a key you already have handy - your vehicle ignition key.
When you insert your own key into the cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key. The first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key. When the key is removed, the cylinder moves into the locked position. When the key is turned again, it will rotate to the unlocked position.
BOLT is particularly useful in commercial applications. Imagine being able to send a crew without having to sign out multiple keys for a work truck, trailer, hitch pins, and equipment locks. With BOLT, the vehicle key becomes a master key. It opens all those locks and you no longer have the hassle of getting to a work site only to find that you've brought the wrong keys.

I already owned one of these for my boat now I’m putting a second one on my utility trailer and I have one for my trailer hitch on my truck firm believer always nice to have only one key for all my toys
We've tried a TON of different coupler locks for our 2019 Jayco RV with an underslung coupler, and we ended up having to send them all back because they're too narrow. A year or two ago, after giving up on all the other brands from all the other sellers, I got on the phone with an e-trailer rep, and he dug through the available options to find one wide enough, and this one works!
Since it's keyed to the tow vehicle key, and since we sold our previous tow vehicle, I just bought another one because I KNEW it would fit, and it does. So thankful for this lock and for etrailer's help.
Good news is that it works like all B.O.L.T. locks I have with one key. Bad news is that there is no way to seat the cylinder COMPLETELY against the hitch, which leaves a small gap that a thief could get a hacksaw into. Still, the pros outweigh the cons.
Easy to use, works perfectly gets rid of unnecessary keys on ur key ring.

Just what I was looking for. The ability to key the lock to your vehicle's key is simply awesome! I no longer have to have a separate key for all the locks for my trailer. Couldn't be happier.
Looked like a great idea and it worked for a couple weeks but then the tumblers seized up on me and I had to cut it off. I might have just bought lemon. Like I said , I like the idea so I might try it again. I use the bigger one to lock my hitch on my truck and that seems to work well.
The lock has a sturdy feel to it, nice and solid, the pin is a bit long for my liking but not a deal braker. Setting the lock to the truck key worked pefectly, everything was as advertised
The BOLT trailer coupler lock for my Toyota key is my favorite lock available. Great quality and I don't have to keep up with another key!
This is the 2nd of these I have purchased. The first I have been using for over 6yrs without issues, fading, etc. Product has been solid and been on my boat trailer. Since I purchased a car hauler, I needed something to keep the hitch ball locked and since the first one was a great success, I ordered a 2nd. I expect this one to last as long and perform as well as the first.
etrailer is simply the best, especially prices and customer service, and note how incredibly useful all their DIY info and videos are!
Works well but thought pin a bit long but maybe ok when combined with this complete tongue lock when parked. Again nice that it works with my Toyota tailgate key.

I still like all of the Bolt products and am still using them. I would say that I do not recommend the Bolt padlocks as while they have the same great key setup I think the shackle is too long, too thin, and too exposed for easy removal by a small grinder or bolt cutter. Otherwise great stuff. I do wish they actually made a hockey puck style padlock instead
