Features to know about

Tows Different Trailers with One Mount: 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16" Balls

If you run more than one trailer, swapping mounts gets old fast. This tri-ball setup makes it easy—just rotate the shank to the size you need and slide it back into the receiver. You get a 1-7/8" ball rated for 2,000 lbs gross towing weight, a 2" ball for 6,000 lbs, and a 2-5/16" ball for 10,000 lbs. It’s a single piece of gear that covers your small utility trailer all the way up to heavy camper or boat duty.

Built to Last: Hollow Steel Shank with Black Powder Coat Finish

Towing gear takes abuse from road grime, weather, and heavy loads. This mount’s hollow steel shank handles it all while keeping weight down. The black powder coat finish fights corrosion and keeps the mount looking clean after long trips or salty roads. It’s built to stay solid season after season without needing extra care.

Keeps the Setup Simple: Fixed Design That Stays Steady

Sometimes simple really is better. With no moving parts or adjustment pins to worry about, this fixed ball mount stays tight and quiet in the receiver. Fewer parts mean fewer chances for rattle or wear, so your hitch setup feels stable every time you tow.

Fits Standard 2" Receivers: Ready for Everyday Hauling

This mount works with any 2" x 2" trailer hitch receiver and has an overall length of 12". The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball is 7-1/4" for the 2-5/16" ball and 8-1/4" for the 2" and 1-7/8" balls. It’s a straightforward fit that gets you hooked up quickly and towing confidently on your next haul.

Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the TowSmart Multi-Ball Mount for 2" Hitches

Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the tow smart multi ball mount for 2-inch hitches, and that's going to have a ball that is 1 and 7/8, 2-inch and also 2 and 5/16. So, we're going to have the vehicle that can tow, whether it be a van or a small SUV, being able to have a host of different things to tow can, sometimes gets tricky when you only have one ball. Well, this eliminates the problem by having three different options. So, if you're pulling a boat trailer, you can use your 2-inch ball. And if you have a small utility trailer, you can swap that over to 1 and 7/8.

Or, if you have something even larger, like a camper, that's 2 and 5/16, and a truck that can pull it, you can also use the ball mount for that. Now keep in mind, you're going to want to make sure that your vehicle can handle the weight towed. So, what can this actually handle You can see here, our 2-inch ball is attached and that's going to be able to hold 6,000 pounds and have a tongue weight of 600 pounds. Now on the bottom side here, we have an inch and 7/8, and that's going to get us 2000 pounds, with a tongue weight of 200. And finally, the larger one, 2 and 5/16 is going to get us 10,000 gross trailer weight, with 8,000 pound tongue weight.

One of the great features of this is, the ability to swap out instantly without having to worry about making sure that the new ball is torqued down properly, or carrying all that loose hardware. This is an all in one. And if I want to swap over from my boat trailer to utility trailer, it's very simple. Simply pull the clip and pin. We're just going to swap this over, put it back in place.

Now we're ready to drop on our new trailer, just like that. So, now that we have our trailer off, let's take a closer look at the ball mount itself. We're going to start by removing the hitch pin. Now this is not included with the ball mount itself, so, if you need one of those, which you will if you're putting this in place and don't have one, we have them here at etrailer. And also if you want to be able to lock this in place, so, someone doesn't just take the pin out and take it with them.

We also have locking ones available. Now it's going to be important that you measure your hitch pin hole, the middle of it, to the ball, to determine how much space you're going to have on your vehicle, and that way it doesn't make contact with the rear fascia or caus any damage. So, we'll measure from the center of the hitch pin hole, to the front of the ball and both the 2-inch and the inch and 7/8 is going to be about 7 inches. Now the larger 2 and 5/16 is going to be 5 and 3/4. So, that measurement is going to show you how far you are away from the ball and your trailer going over to your rear fascia. The ball Mount is steel construction. So, it's going to be very solid. These balls are also welded on, which is great because other times you have to torque that nut on the backside, down to a spec. You don't have to do that here, it's ready to go right out of the box. And it's got a nice black powder coat finish to give it a good look and resist corrosion and rust. And that's going to do it for a look at the tow smart multi ball mount for 2-inch hitches. Thanks for watching..

by:

knowledgeable, courteous , fast, personal service
they help you get the right product and personally follow through even provide their call back number so you can reach the same person again
that is hard to find these days

by:

Works good. The fit is slightly loose in my hitch but I use a "stabilizing" clamp (U-Bolt with a plate) to tighten everything up. The paint on the ball made it a bit difficult to connect/disconnect the trailer the first time using it but since then it is has gotten easier now that much of the paint on the ball is gone.

by:

When using the none 2-5/16th ball it kind of hangs to low for my 2020 Rav4 with Curt hitch. OEM Toyota hitch sits higher and would be fine for that. So if you have a low hitch mount may want to get a different hitch.

by:

Well built 3 way towing ball.

by:

Perfect! Exactly what I needed and it arrived promptly.

by:

Fit perfectly and was quickly installed by my mechanic.
My only complaint is that neither the hitch nor receiver came with the pin and the purchase of the pin was not suggested at time of sale. No big deal

See what our Experts say about this TowSmart Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie
Kenneth from what I researched yes that trailer is going to be too heavy for your 1500. It looks like your Dodge has a 3,500 to 5,200 lb towing capacity so with that trailer being already at the end empty means you're going to be over the limit. My suggestion is to look at smaller trailers so you don't run the risk of overloading your truck. But with that being said, you're still going to need a hitch no matter what you choose to do, so I'd recommend going with the Curt Trailer Hitch...

  • Can I Add 1-7/8" Hitch Ball To Curt Adjustable Channel Mount Hitch # C45926?
Hey Ray, unfortunately the Curt Adjustable 2-Ball Channel Mount - 2" Hitch # C45926 doesn't have the option to add another mount with a 1-7/8" ball like you're wanting to do. I'd look at something like Flint Hill Goods Adj Tri-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 5.75" Drop/Rise # FHG92VR, or for a more budget friendly option, the fixed TowSmart Multi-Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16" Trailer Balls # TS74FR. Sorry I didn't have better news. Sometimes these adjustable hitches have...

Hey Tom, we have just what you are looking for with the Curt ball mount part # C45002 which is a dual ball setup like you mentioned that has a 2 inch ball on one side and a 2-5/16 inch ball on the other side.

  • How to Stabilize and Secure TowSmart Multi-Ball Mount to Trailer Hitch Receiver
To add a lock and anti-rattle to your TowSmart Multi-Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # TS74FR I recommend the following parts: - etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880 - etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Stabilizer # e99007 These are pretty simple to use but they are very effective in stabilizing and securing accessories like your ball mount!
