Features to know about

Built for Serious Loads: 21,000 lbs Gross Trailer Weight

When you’re hauling heavy equipment or large trailers, you need gear that won’t flinch under pressure. This Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount is rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 21,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 2,800 lbs. The solid, 1-piece forged steel construction gives it the muscle to handle tough jobs without bending or flexing.

Keeps Your Trailer Level: 4" Rise or 6" Drop

Level towing makes all the difference in control and stability. With a 4" rise and a 6" drop, this mount lets you line up your trailer perfectly with your hitch height. Whether your trailer sits high or low, the setup helps everything track straight and steady mile after mile.

Simple and Dependable: Fixed Ball Mount That Stays Put

Sometimes simple is best. This fixed ball mount has no moving parts to rattle loose, so once it’s pinned in, it stays tight and quiet. The solid shank slides cleanly into a 3" x 3" trailer hitch receiver for a secure fit you can trust every time you hook up.

Fights Rust and Road Grime: Carbide Black Powder Coat Finish

Towing gear takes a beating from weather, salt, and road grime, but this mount is built to resist it all. The corrosion-resistant, carbide black powder coat finish protects the forged steel underneath, keeping it looking sharp and performing strong trip after trip.

Ready for the Right Hitch Ball Setup

This mount accepts a hitch ball with a 1-1/4" diameter shank (sold separately). Pair it with a Curt 2" Hitch Ball part # C69FR or Curt 2-5/16" Hitch Ball part # C49FR to complete your setup. With both options fitting the required shank size and length, you can match the connection that fits your trailer best.

Video Transcript for Feature Review Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount for 3" Hitches

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount for 3" Hitches. This ball mount slides into your 3" by 3" hitch opening, and it provides the mounting platform for a hitch ball. That way, you can easily hook up to your trailer, and tow it behind your vehicle. This unit is a solid, one-piece forged steel construction, so it's very strong, very durable. It features a really nice corrosion-resistant carbide black powder-coated finish, so you don't have to worry about rust or corrosion. You can use this in the drop position. You could also flip it over, and use it in the rise position as well, so both the drop and rise positions are available to help ensure level towing. To get it installed and secured in your hitch, it does require the hitch pin and clip, or a hitch lock. Those times are sold separately, and available at etrailer.com.

Again, this is designed to slide into a 3" by 3" trailer hitch receiver. It offers a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 21,000 pounds, and a maximum tongue weight capacity of 2800 pounds.I did take a few measurements that I want to mention for you real quick. The measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole, going in a straight line to the center of the hitch ball hole, is around 10". When used in the drop position, it's going to provide you with a 6" drop. That's from the inside top edge of the receiver tube of your hitch down to the ball platform.

When used in the rise position, it'll give you a 4" rise from the inside top edge of the hitch to the top of the ball platform. I'll take a measurement of the ball hole diameter real quick. That way, you can choose a hitch ball that'll work with this. That has a diameter measurement of 1-1/4".The product's also covered with a limited lifetime warranty. That's going to do it for today's look at the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount for 3" Hitches.

Arrived sooner than expected. A very sturdy hitch with pin. I especially appreciate having the rounded edges where we frequently walk at the back of the SUV. 4" drop is correct to match my truck and trailer hitch height on my Subaru Ascent.

by:

As with all Curt products I’ve used, top notch!

by:

Love this Curt ball mount. Heavy duty, rugged. One piece with no welding.
There is no chance of a breakage at weld since there is no welding on this piece. Well above my load weight. Never haul a heavier load than the limit shown on the ball mount sticker.

by:

Exactly as advertised! After I ordered the wrong one, my bad, Will at etrailer made the return process simple and had the correct one shipped same day. We always use etrailer, fantastic customer service.

by:

The hitch showed up on time and is heavy duty as expected.

by:

Hitch ball mount looks good and fits in the tube. There is a little wiggle in the tube but doesn’t seem to be enough to cause trouble. I need to invert the mount to get a 1/2” rise but the nut is 7/8” flat to flat. I don’t have a socket big enough to fit that. So I’m either going to have to buy or borrow one.

Outstanding chunk of forged steel. I like this because I just have trust issues with a welded hitchbar towing a 12k trailer and putting 50k+ miles/year on it. LOVE the fact that it comes with the ball already installed and torqued to spec. Take it out of the box, lock it onto the truck, and hit the road!

by:

1st: package was in great shape
2nd:
idems were delivered quickly
3rd: hitch and lock pin are well made heavy duty, sold.
5th :fits the truck and trailer perfectly and looks great!

by:

Curt products are great. Built like a brick s*** house. I won’t even consider any other brand. I’ve used them for decades and have zero issues with them. Got a new truck that has a 2 1/2 hitch so I had to get a bigger set.

by:

The ball mount is great. Aligns the truck and trailer just right so I can avoid using my clunky and heavy adjustable ball mount.
The pin is ok. Seems a little thin but I reckon it’s solid. The clip though is problematic. Real hard to press in. Scraped my knuckles a couple of times. It’s the angle and or the length of the wire where it begins to assemble. Too short or maybe wrong angle. Hope you understand what im saying.
Thanks

There's a lot of fancy ball mounts out there. I like the tried and true "huge chunk of steel" option. Those fancy ball mounts come with a lot of failure points as well. This is a massive piece of metal, with a ball and a pin. That's it. People have been towing this way forever. Why risk being fancy and watching your trailer pass you on the freeway? Find the drop you need, get a big hitch like this and call it a day. These hitches are cheaper and stronger than nearly anything out there.

by:

Heavy duty (very heavy)seems to be a better stable towing hitch compared to the adjustable hitches .Great quality ,etrailer had fast gree shipping

GREAT SERVICE

very good service

by:

Everything was shipped just like they said and couldn't expect anymore.

by:

Exactly what you would expect. A massive chuck of metal for use in a 3 inch receiver without hte need for reducers and the issue and rattling they can cause. Sure, and adjustable may be more versatile if you have multiple trailers of different heights, but they are 3 times the cost, or more.

by:

Has 1/8 inch of play side to side and up and down

I have a solution for you to help minimize movement in the receiver. I would recommend part number # BLU85QR. It will help to eliminate the rattle and sway within your receiver.

by:

Very stout hitch!! Nice fit and looks badass on my dually. This hitch is heavy and heavy duty. Would buy again but won’t need to…….it will last forever. You won’t be disappointed.

by:

Product was exactly as pictured and described. Having just purchased a 2019 F-350 dually that did not have the 3” hitch. I’ll be using this hitch to pull a utility trailer from Utah to New Mexico to retrieve some personal items.

by:

Awesome heavy duty ball mount. Used it about 15 times before it was stolen off the back of my truck. Indestructible and great value for the $$.

Replaced the stolen one with the same hitch. It’s built like a tank, tows like a champ, and keeps people off your bumper.
