Looking For Stock Steel For Trailer Frame Rail

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/21/2024

Question:

I have a 23’6” trailer for my 19’ pontoon boat so it’s a big long for the boat that won’t fit in my garage. I’d like to remove 12” from the rear rails behind the axle so I don’t have to mess with the brake line going to the Demco brake actuator at the tongue end and to preserve the tongue length for maneuverability. Do you all stock pieces of tubing that will fit inside the 2” x 4” frame rails so I can make sure the area being re-welded has adequate support?

Hello Terry I do appreciate you reaching out but we do not carry any stock steel pieces that can be used for a frame rail. We do not build trailers here so we do not do parts like doors, windows, wall panels, stock steel ect... Your best bet for that will be to reach out to a trailer shop or fab shop that deals with stock steel parts.

Hey Terry, were you able to find a shop that could supply the tubing for your trailer frame? Knowing what worked could help others trying to shorten their trailers safely.
