Getting your trailer level is key to a smooth tow, especially when switching between haulers of different heights. This adjustable ball mount gives you up to a 7" drop or 7" rise with 1" incremental adjustments, so you can dial in the perfect height every time. The platform slides easily along the shank and locks in place with dual pins, keeping your setup stable on the road.
If you pull different trailers, you’ll like how quick this setup switches sizes. It comes with a 2" stainless steel hitch ball rated for 10,000 lbs and includes a clamshell adapter that clamps right over it to give you a 2-5/16" option—no tools or extra mounts needed. That means one hitch handles most standard trailer couplers without extra gear rolling around in the truck bed.
When you’re towing serious weight—boats, campers, or equipment—you want gear that holds up. The powder coated steel shank on this Blue Ox mount is made for 2" x 2" hitch receivers and rated at 10,000 lbs gross towing weight whether you’re using the 2" ball or the 2-5/16" clamshell. It’s a reliable setup built to handle heavy-duty pulls without flex or wobble.
Towing means exposure to everything from rain to road salt, but this mount is ready for it. The black powder coat finish protects the steel shank from corrosion, while the stainless steel hitch ball and clamshell resist rust and pitting over time. It stays looking good and working smooth through years of use.
No extra shopping list here—the mount includes a preinstalled stainless steel ball, a clamshell adapter for the second size, and a 5/8" pin and clip to secure it in your receiver. Once it’s pinned in place, you’re ready to tow without any extra steps or frustration.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Blue Ox adjustable ball mount with clamshell for your two inch hitch receiver. Now, this adjustable ball mount with the pre-installed two inch hitch ball is going to slide into your two inch hitch receiver and give you a maximum drop or a maximum rise when you flip this over of seven inches. And it's going to give you an incremental height adjustment of one inch. And this is going to give you that height adjustability that you are looking for so you can tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle.
And this does include this clamshell adapter, so you can have a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball option. So that's a really nice feature when you need to go to a larger ball. You don't have to undo this or flip it over or put a whole nother ball in there. All you gotta do is put that clamshell over the two inch ball and now you are able to tow a 2-5/16 inch trailer using a 2-5/16 inch coupler. So very easy to swap out those ball sizes.
Now, this does have a gross towing capacity of 10,000 pounds. And again, I've got the drop/rise listed there for you on the bottom of that graphic. This hitch is heavy duty. It's constructed of powder coated steel. It's gonna hold up really well for you.
And our hitch ball and the clamshell are constructed stainless steel, so they're gonna hold up against corrosion. And this is gonna be very easy to adjust. You're just going to remove the pins and clips here and slide that ball platform up or down the shank. So let me go ahead and remove the clips here. Then I'm gonna remove the pins.
Put them on the table here. So then coming around here so you can just have a better view, this is going to be able to slide up and down without any problem whatsoever. Just gonna find that height adjustment that you need and then reinsert the pins and the clips and you'll be good to go. So you're really not going to be at the back of your truck struggling to find just that perfect height that you're looking for. This is gonna be pretty easy to adjust. So I went ahead and removed my pins. I'm gonna replace the clips, replace the pins rather. Now I'm replacing the clips. By the way, you probably know this, but with these particular clips, you wanna make sure your finger is not here when you close that. I have bruised my fingernail a few times doing that, so it's got a pretty good recoil, but that's good because you know it'll hold in place. Now as you notice, this does include a 5/8 inch pin and clip so you can secure this ball mount your hitch receiver. You do not have a hitch lock option. I would definitely recommend taking a look at those options here at etrailer.com just so you can be confident that your investment is secured to the back of your truck and you're not gonna have to worry about someone coming by and yanking it off your trailer hitch receiver when it's unattended. I went ahead and took some measurements that might prove helpful for you before our time together. So the first measurement I took is from the center of what I'm calling the first hitch pin hole to the center of the ball. It's gonna be about 8-1/4 inches. And then we move to the center of the second hitch pin hole, it's gonna be about 9-5/8 inches. And then the measurement from the center of the second hitch pin hole to the end of the shank about two inches is what I came up with. So easy to adjust and really the star of the show is just the ability to switch to your 2-5/16 inch hitch ball with that clam shell adapter. It's gonna be very easy to switch back and forth between the 2-5/16 inch. Well, that's gonna wrap up our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

Item arrived in a timely manner and looks great. I haven’t hooked up a trailer but the adjustability and the clamshell adapter look very promising.
It's a very well made hitch. Highly recommend this hitch
My kid has used it an works as should.
Great ball mount that is fully adjustable in 1" increments.
Absolutely. One our best investments for camping
Great hitch. Super heavy duty and quickly adaptable from 2" to 2-5/16" with the clamshell.
I love the product. Love Etrailer. Unfortunately, the product came with damage. There was not enough damage for me to return it, but it was dropped. The paint was chipped, and the drop pins didn't seem to operate correctly.
Great product, used with varying trailers with different hitch heights. The square tubing that slips into the receiver could be a couple of inches longer to better position a mud flap holder, especialy for stock Duramax exhaust. It does work OK.
Quality materials and simple design.
Needed an adjustable heavy duty hitch for several different trailers I use, this one was worth the extra money, easy to adjust. Had bent cheaper hitches in the past. And would replace with the 2” version if I ever go back to a half ton truck
Nicely built and sharp looking. Haven’t used yet sure it tows just fine. 3 stars as Blue Ox for this price should have used locking pins both on receiver portion and adjustable ball mount. Now I have to buy the locking pins as extras and I’ve been seeing competitors that do provide the appropriate pins at comparable prices.
Great drop hitch. Clamshell is a great idea for quick interchangeability. Cotter pins to adjust the ball up and down that come with hitch are not so great. The cotter pin fell out and the whole second pin was missing before I noticed. Easily replaced with better, and no issues since.
