2000 Ford Van - Roadmaster Reflex RV Steering Stabilizer with Mtg Brackets

  • Steering Stabilizer
  • Roadmaster
  • Includes Mounting Hardware

The sturdy steel spring on this stabilizer keeps your Ford Van in line by constantly working to maintain its position. Mount it between the steering mechanism and the chassis for a tight connection that will minimize wander and correct oversteering.

Features:

  • Compensates for oversteering and returns your vehicle to center
    • Tempered steel spring works to return to its normal state - when compressed, spring pushes back into neutral position; when extended, it pulls back
  • Attaches to the steering mechanism on one end and to the chassis undercarriage on the other
    • Tight connection between these components keeps steering firm and controlled
  • Helps you to maintain control of your vehicle in the event of crosswinds, rut tracking, road edging or a tire blowout
  • Reduces road fatigue - stabilizer keeps you centered so that you don't have to work as hard to steer
  • Installs in approximately 1 hour with no drilling or welding
  • Includes stabilizer, custom mounting brackets, hardware and installation instructions
  • Made in USA
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

A variety of things can make your vehicle veer - crosswinds, uneven pavement, tire blowout. The key to a pleasant, and safe, driving experience is learning how to deal with these situations. Roadmaster's Reflex Steering Stabilizer works to return your vehicle to center when something happens that causes it to swerve or jolt. As a result, you won't have to oversteer in an attempt to stay in line, thus minimizing road fatigue.

The stabilizer attaches to your vehicle's tie rod on one end and to the frame on the other. A heavy-duty steel spring runs the length of the rod, constantly working to keep steering controlled. If you steer your vehicle one way and it gets pulled the opposite way, the spring will stretch momentarily and then quickly pull back to its normal state. If you oversteer your vehicle in the same direction it is already moving, the spring will compress for a moment but then push back out to its prior state. No matter how you steer or how the frame is pushed or pulled, your vehicle will always return to center.

2023 Thor Quantum Motorhome

Installing the steering stabilizer really made a difference. You have to be careful to have your front wheels as straight as possible. I had to make an adjustment after install as it made my motorhome pull to the right. The Ford dealer quickly made the adjustment and it really tracks straight down the highway now. It tightened up my steering as well - I'm very pleased with this product.

2018 Coachmen Freelander Motorhome

What a difference this made. I was on the fence about this for quite a while because of the investment needed. Now that’s it’s on my 2018 Coachman Freelander 28QB sitting on a Ford E450 my only advice is don’t wait any longer, put this on as soon as possible! It took all of that steering wheel shake out. No need to hang on with a death grip anymore. The stabilizer is very easy to put on, it took me about 1 ½ hours to complete including taking the old one off. Just follow the great video and printed instructions from etrailer and you will have no problems at all.

Its been a year and many miles since I placed this upgrade on our motorhome. Im so happy that I did! If your thinking about this, based on my experience I say do it and dont look back. I believe you will love the difference in steering.

Okay, sometimes packages are delivered to your neighbors' addresses. Have you been able to ask your neighbors if they have received the package in your place? I have sent your information over to customer service for them to look into this more in depth for you.

Order was delivered on time. Parts were as described. Installation was easy if you follow the instructions that came with it. Product works great for steering stability

Again the videos you have are great. The video even told me the wrench sizes to use which really helps with getting ready to get started. It was an easy install after watching the video. I referred to my phone as I installed it and now I'm ready for a test drive now to make sure it drives straight.

2017 Ford F-450 Super Duty

Installed the roadmaster stabilizer on my 2017 F450 Fleetwood Jamboree and just got back from the test drive. Got the positioning just right on the first try. This with my sumo springs have completely transformed my ride.
Excellent.

Excellent product. Driving has been greatly improved!

We had this installed by Camping World on our 2019 Thor 26HE. It was a handful on the interstate when a semi passed.

Now there is just a small push-pull when they pass with the steering stabilizer.

I recommend this to everyone who buys a C Class RV.

Fantastic our Thor 26HE still handles like a dream on the interstates.

tremendous upgrade from factory steering dampener, highly recommend ed for class c rv. no more white knuckle driving. Thanks for the great products from etrailer!

Buy this Steering Stabilizer! What a huge difference in the handling of my 2006 Ford E450 26.5 Lazy Daze Class C motorhome. Approximate miles driven, 5,000 with it installed this past year. No more white knuckles with driving. The improvement is so great I have put off upgrading the stock Sway-bars. You get what you pay for when it comes to the Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer. Without a doubt well worth the money!

This was part 3 of the driving/ride improvements for our 2019 Coachmen Leprechaun 319MB. etrailer verified all parts prior to me purchasing to ensure I got the correct stuff. Shipping was quick and everyone was very helpful.

All parts were in both boxes. I watched several videos prior to actually doing the installation and re-read the included instructions twice before doing the work. Included directions need to be a little clearer but with a little looking, reading and thinking I got to the right answer.

Removal of the OEM steering damper was straight forward.

Beginning installation of the new equipment was fairly easy but things got complicated when it came time to torque the ubolts and then tighten the spring. Four hands may have made it easier but not by much. Overall, it took me 1.5 hours.

Documentation could be better in describing how to torque the u-bolts and a lot better on the spring tightening section when it described "don't let the shaft turn".

After a struggle and some tinkering, I figured out how to torque the u-bolts and get the springs tightened.

Test drive was right on, centered on the road. Make sure you do the steering wheel alignment marks before you start.

Driving down the road you can feel the spring resistance to turns and its desire to bring the steering wheel back to center. I had to run over several pot holes on the ride back from NC, even when the steering wheel jumped, the stabilizer brought it back to center. Two large semis passed me going opposite directions. You could feel the lateral push, but the stabilizer made it much easier to stay in the lane without a lot of steering wheel movement. one handed driving is a lot easier now.

Good product, installation is fairly easy, but better documentation will make it a lot easier.

I had to use deep well sockets, regular sockets and ratcheting closed end combination wrenches to get the work done.

I give it a 4 for documentation and a 5 for doing what I bought it for.

2018 Thor Freedom Elite Motorhome

If you are on the fence about installing a steering stabilizer just do it and be rid of the dangerously exhaustive driving and start enjoying your Motorhome.
I am, by nature, a very skeptical person. However, the 2018 Thor Freedom Elite 26HE I own was a dangerous thing to drive. I already installed Air bags and a heavy duty rear sway bar; the Motorhome was no longer dangerous to drive but will work you to exhaustion fighting the wind and passing trucks. I researched and inquired about how to fix this and was told to install a steering stabilizer. After installing the Roadmaster Reflex Stabilizer I took my Motorhome for a drive expecting to be disappointed and more financially broke for chasing ghost; WOW was I wrong! I didn’t just notice a minor improvement but an improvement so major that I had to share this information with everyone I know and anyone I come in contact with that has the same problem.

2005 FordVan

Just had the Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer installed on my 2007 Coachman Freelander Class C motorhome (28 feet) with Ford E-450 chassis. On my first test drive what an immediate and noticeable difference! Met several semis and the improvement was evident. The motorhome is much easier to handle. I look forward to upcoming road trips. Service from etrailer was EXCELLENT!

by:

I recently purchased a 2011 Itasca Cambria 28 with only 10,500 miles. Our first trip made it clear that I needed to stiffen the chassis. Unfortunately Roadmaster Anti-sway bars are backordered, and though you should put those on first, I just installed the Reflex Steering Stabilizer. Easy installation though you need to be careful about seating the bushings. The videos are much better than the printed instructions. Already see a big difference in how much tighter the steering is. Can't wait for the bars to arrive. Disappointed to have to wait 4 weeks.

Chevrolet SS

Fast Shipping, product as described!
The
only issue is that it's not exactly the part # that fits my vehicle. This one (RBK24) is for the models that already have a factory installed steering stabilizer. The model for models with no steering stabilizer is the (RBK2). The RBK24 technically fits my vehicle, but there is no nut welded inside the frame. There are holes, but not big enough for the bolts (and not threaded).
I will probably try to insert carriage bolt inside the frame to use this part. I much prefer this one, which is bolted to the frame, whereas the RBK2 is U-bolted to the i-beam axle... Not ideal in my opinion.
I would simply suggest that the description of this product and the RBK2 cleary say that one is for models with factory installed steering stabilizer and the other one is for models with no factory installed SS. The vehicle fit tool indicates that both parts fit my vehicle (2009 Ford Van). Mine is a E-350 SuperDuty Class C V8 with single rear wheel.

Received the package VIA UPS in 2 days. Checked contents and all parts were included. Installation took me about 1:20 min, I'm a senior, and it was only 35 Degrees out. Had to take a few warm up breaks. The new bolts for the frame bracket were the same thread size as original ones , but the heads were 17mm, the originals were 10mm , but no trouble installing them. You have to position the u-bolt bracket carefully to avoid the stabilizer from rubbing the radiator hose. I had about 1/4 space from the hose after I was finished. Took RV on a 25 mile road test, wind was blowing about 15mph. Steering was much improved. Noticed after turning a corner that the wheel did not take near as much driver input to return to center as it used to. Overall it seems to work pretty good.

by:

Well, i received my roadmaster reflex steering stabilizer last evening, installed it this morning and took no more than an hour and test drive went perfect. Will be giving a good long drive in a month with trailer in tow also so the true test will be down the freeway, big rigs passing and winds pushing.

Thanks Lisa for your help in checking with Ford to be sure the Reflix Steering Stabilizer was the right fit for my motor home. I just received it and it was as easy to install as promised. Delivery was prompt and to my front door. I can't wait to try it out but it was obvious while installing it that it was just what I needed. Thanks again Lisa for your help.

Still have not received it. Factory said that the manufacturer/source of the spring and damper component had changed and that there were supply chain issues. I have received the brackets but not the Spring/damper assembly. I'm frustrated that this has dragged on for so long. If there is anything that etrailer could do to expedite and resolve this issue, I would be supremely grateful. Bad rating is based soley upon inordinate amount of delay in fulfilling the order.

Very well-made, worth every penny, and a much less stressful drive not chasing the steering wheel.

by:

Very easy to install. Did noticed the change in handling. I will also work on upgrading the sway bar.

2017 Forest River Sunseeker Motorhome

Installed on my 2017 Forest River Sunseeker yesterday. Took about an hour and it was a one person job, not that difficult. I did some measurements to determine my front wheels were centered straight on. Everything fit perfectly and all parts were included. I watched several of the installation videos on etrailer's web site and was a little disappointed that some videos showed what I feel was inaccurate and conflicting procedure. I used the best of the best information and all is well. I would hope etrailer would review and consider corrections. Anyway went for a test drive today and drove on some new flat pavement then on some rather old choppy roads as well. On the new pavement it drives great and holds center very well. Don't think I could adjust any better than it is now which is great. On the old choppy pavement I can still feel the steering pull, trying to follow the pavement imperfections but the stabilizer does help to self correct so I do not have to constantly fight the steering wheel to make all the correction. When making a turn the stabilizer definitely does return the steering wheel back to center must easier. I did meet some big rigs and they did not push me around any noticeable amount. Have not experienced being passed by a big rig at this point. Installing the stabilizer along with pressuring up my rear air bags to around 50 PSI will definitely make my RV much more driver friendly. It's not a cure all but is an obvious improvement.

I have driven approximately 500 miles with the stabilizer installed. The stabilize has been an improvement to the handling in general of my RV. I feel the product is a worthwhile investment. It does not resolve all the issues with a Ford F450 chassis but does make some improvement. I would buy again if necessary.

2015 Roadmaster Chateau Motorhome

Just installed unit yesterday. In leading up to my purchase, the customer service people for your company have been great, answering all my questions or concerns. Although the unit was backordered, customer service kept in touch with me on expected arrival time of unit. The RV now wants to stay in the lane of the road and there is a big difference in correcting oversteer. Driving on a road with sweeping curves, the unit makes the RV handle so much better, almost like a car. The installation video was great to go along with the paper instructions supplied with unit. Would highly recommend etrailer and the Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer.

It was well worth purchasing this product. Correcting the oversteer and it really helps maintaining staying in your lane even in cross winds. This product has been a great asset.

Good addition for my 2005 E-450,V10 Box Van. Good fit. Does not rub on radiator hose. Makes steering more comfortable. Just works. This was the third step after rear then front anti-sway bars.

Good investment. After a year of use, the steering, handling feel good, like Im driving a smaller vehicle. This was the third step after the rear then front anti-sway bars.

Etrailer assisted me in selecting and purchasing the correct anti sway bars and steering stabilizer for my 2017 FORD E450 RV. this corrected the poor road handling I was experiencing. the money was well spent and I am very pleased with the results.

I couldnt have been happier with the end result. I just recently sold that MH and purchase a Class A. I purchase another set of anti sway bars and steering stabilizer and installed them. That is how much I support the products
