Video Transcript for Firestone Air Suspension Compressor Kit - Wired Control - F2158 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Firestone Air Command 1 Analog Gauge with Standard Duty Compressor. Now the air spring pressure control kit with electric, single-gauge control allows you to control the air pressure levels from inside the cab of your vehicle. This operates air bags with a single switch. So located right here, this is the portion that would be mounted in the cab of your vehicle. You have a single switch design so you push up to inflate the air springs and push down to deflate the air springs. And then you can easily see the psi rating right here on the gauge. Now this gauge is back lit so it does have a light located right here.

Little light bulb. So that way even in low light conditions you'll always be able to see the gauge very clearly and easily. The unit features the electric single gauge control panel with a white face. Again, very easy to read. It is back lit.

Mounts under the dashboard in the vehicle cab. The electric system levels one pair of air springs equally. This works great for light towing applications. Accommodates varying load capacities, and road and parking conditions. The kit comes with everything needed to install the unit and control your air springs. This is a standard duty air compressor with 130 max psi.

So again, it comes with the gauge, it comes with your wiring harness. It comes with a compressor, air line tubing, air filter, and then all the necessary fittings, tees, zip ties, hardware. Everything you need is included. Now the compressor amperage is 20 amps. It's a nice compact design.

Fits perfectly on a frame rail of the vehicle. Duty cycle is 15%. Flow rate based on a half gallon tank, zero to 30 psi was 13 seconds. Zero to 60 psi was 30 seconds. And the cubic feet per minute at 100 psi is 0.57.That's gonna do it for today's look at the Firestone Air Command 1 Analog Gauge with the Standard Duty Compressor.

The compressor kit was fairly easy to install. Finding locations for the compressor and filter was the biggest challenge. I own a 14 Ram 3500. I had Schrader valves in the back bumper initially. It is so much more convenient being able to hit the toggle switch in the cab. Thanks e-trailer. 607609

where is the best place ton install 2158 firestone compressor on 2010 f-150. can it be installed in the cab or should it be mounted outside

It can be installed in the cab, but it can get rather noisy when operating if in the cab. Mounting options are pretty endless, you do want to make sure its not in direct line to have road debris or water thrown on it. I have added a link to an install with a 2011 Sierra to give you some ideas.

I actually installed the compressor inside my console. I also installed the control panel where the factory brake controller would normally go. It is a little noisy but not running it long enough to be worried with that. I also used the factory fuse panel to as the point of power. I would not mind sharing pictures if some one could tell me how.

I have nothing but great things to say about Etrailer.com! I ordered the Firestone rear helper bags along with the Level Command II for my 2012 Silverado 1500, selected ground shipping and the next day, I was notified that my shipping was upgraded at no charge! I installed it all in my garage in about 3 hours. The only hangup I had was the fuse tap but I got one from my local auto parts store for 6 bucks. I also installed a tee fitting off of the main airline to the bags and installed a manual fill valve inside my rear fender well for back up. I also did not have a tubing cutter but a sharp razor blade does just as well as long as you get your cuts square. I ordered this kit for towing my 29 foot travel trailer. My truck has the stock suspension other than a 2 inch drop shackle in the rear to level the truck out. I am running the minimum amount of pressure, which is 10psi, and the back end is a little stiff but not uncomfortable. 102541

Installed this kit on a 2015 Nissan Frontier. Biggest issue was finding a space for the compressor. Ended up mounting it behind the left headlight, on an aluminum plate that I mounted above the fender sheet metal. The kit itself is very complete and includes everything required for a clean installation. I did 15 loads of firewood with that truck last year, and it was great to be able to inflate the airbags when loaded, and then reduce the pressure once the truck was unloaded. 364805

The unit I purchased works awesome, makes adjustments very easy and very quick. Easy install, the thing I didn't like is because of the air lines coming into the cab of the truck to the controller it is very noisy, but other than that all is good! 694752

I have a 2015 F150 eco boost 3.5l engine and pull a 28' travel trailer with a weight distribution hitch. Without the air suspension, the trailer is at the upper end of what the truck can handle in wind. The engine is fine, but the truck is light for a big trailer like that. The air suspension stabilizes the truck making for a nice stable pull. I recommend these for anyone pulling a trailer with a light truck. 503426

  • Recommended Firestone Air Compressor Kit to Inflate Air Bags and Tires, Etc.
The Firestone Air Command I - Analog Gauge w/ Standard-Duty Compressor # F2158 can be used to inflate your tires. Normally if you want that function because it requires another connection, I recommend the Air Command I Xtreme Duty Compressor with Analog Gauge, Air Tank, and 25' Hose # F2543. This not only gives you the stronger compressor, but the 2-gallon reservoir tank, hose with gauge and storage bag to keep all the extra equipment in. This will ensure you don't overwork your compressor...

  • Is Drilling Required When Installing Firestone Air Command I Compressor # F2158
The only holes you should need to drill when installing the Firestone Air Command I Compressor # F2158 are the mounting holes when attaching the control panel (in the cab) and the air compressor itself (somewhere along the frame rails) to the desired locations. I have attached the full installation manual below that you can check out. The two sections related to these mounting procedures start on page 5. If you'd rather not drill into the frame rails for the compressor mounting you...

  • How To Replace the Air Filter On a Firestone Compressor System
In order to replace the air filter on the Firestone Air Command I Compressor System part # F2158 you will first want to un-thread the filter housing from the compressor. Once the filter housing is removed you can then pry the two sides open with a flat-head screwdriver or pick tool. Once the two sides of the filter housing are separated you can simply remove the old and then replace it with a new filter. The filter housing will snap back together and you can thread it back on the compressor.

  • Air Compressor Kit for Firestone Air Bags on a 2005 Ford F-350 Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer
The Firestone compressor system you choose is going to depend on your needs. If you want a model that fills both air bags at the same time (single path) then I recommend # F2097. This type of system is great if you carry the same load frequently, like towing a trailer, and don't really need to level the truck bed side to side. A model that comes with an air tank, such as # F2543, would be able to add air to the bags faster. If you do need to level the bed side to side as well then I...

  • Is a Water Trap Needed for Air Bag System
Usually a water trap is not needed for an air bag system. In fact, my Firestone contact told me they never recommend them! One exception might be heavy continuous use in a humid climate, such as a work truck used daily in Florida or Louisiana with pressure changes being made all day long every day. In that case a water trap might be a good idea. But for a vehicle occasionally towing the same RV on a recreational basis the air bags will not be likely to accumulate enough water to worry...

  • Which Better a Wireless Compressor System or Analog Gauge System for Firestone Air Bags
Personally, I am old school and like analog gauges. But ultimately it depends on what your needs are. If you need to be able to monitor the vehicle while leveling it then a wireless system such as # F2581 is ideal because you don't have to be in the vehicle. If all you are looking for is basic load leveling and don't have to watch the vehicle while adjusting the air pressure than the analog system # F2158 will work great for you.

Yes the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2299 is going to work with the Firestone Air Command I - Analog Gauge w/ Standard-Duty Compressor # F2158. The Air Command can work with your tires but I do recommend going with the Firestone Air Tank, 1 Gallon # F9244 to allow for much faster inflation of both the springs and tires.

The Level Command II kit, # F2219, comes with a heavy-duty compressor that is rated for 145 max psi.
